Just putting a marker down for a new thread for the Shreddees! All welcome, and it's not limited to the Shred - all those working through any of JM's various forms of torture are very welcome.

30DS L3 D2.

Well done everyone who's completed the 30 days!

Slightly aching glute's and arms from stepping up a level, but in a good way that makes we want to keep going!

I don't do weighing or diets, other than cutting out alcohol, and just notice toning/how many sizes I drop when Shredding.

VitoCorleonePart2 · 12/02/2015 21:01

Yes you're supposed to eat your exercise calories back on MFP, i think its because you have a certain calorie allowence, but if you burn some of those calories off it will put you under your allowence and into "starvation mode" (depending on what your calorie limit is, mine was always 1200)

CheshirePanda · 12/02/2015 22:06

Well done to all those loosing weight, and competing their programmes. It's good to hear positive news. I've got to L3 D5 of 30DS and I am improving. I did the Natalie version of the mountain climbers today. A small victory

ErrolTheDragon · 12/02/2015 22:19

'starvation mode' doesn't really apply to overweight westerners! But if you're doing calorie restriction every day for protracted period then taking exercise into account may make it sustainable.

fukkigucci · 12/02/2015 23:18

Thanks for all the advice.
I'm being sensible with the calorie counting. It's more about being aware of what I eat, not snacking all the time, not eating the kids leftovers etc.

DeliciousIrony · 12/02/2015 23:23

fukki Alas the videos I desire aren't on youtube, I will just stick to the oens I have for now.

The eating back exercise calories is really up to you. When I joined MFP about 6 years ago, everyone on the forums were very adamant that you definitely had to eat all of your exercise calories or you Would Not Lose Weight. I tended to just eat as many of them as I felt like that day, and lost weight pretty well.

Now there seems to be more difference of opinion on MFP, some eat them, some don't. As you're pregnant then it's probably best to eat them.
I think I would find it harder to motivate myself into exercising if I didn't log the exercise and be able to reward myself with some more calories accordingly.

Yoga Inferno L1 D8 done. Week off for me now - whoop, whoop. I'm not taking JM on my holiday! I'm also falling off the thread for a while as I'm going to give up MN-ing for Lent. I'll rejoin the April thread if there is one.

Congratulations, Elphaba! Good luck with Ripped.

PS I meant to wish everyone luck with the various exercise programmes and weight loss goals. Hope you're all still at it when I come back!

Have a good hol, imogen and see you in April - there always does seem to be a new thread each month.

DDs inset day, I had a lie in and decided not to exercise. I'm meant to be working but it's a tedious stage of things... I need to shut my laptop and get back to my work machines!

Enjoy your holiday Imogen, and good luck with your lent MN break!

30DS L1 D8 complete!

Jacksterbear · 13/02/2015 18:00

Happy holiday Imogen.

Have achieved my exercise goal for this week and done all 4 levels of Ripped - plus 2x PiYo workouts, so feeling pretty pleased with myself!

CheshirePanda · 13/02/2015 18:12

Evening all
Happy Lent to Imogen. It's nice to think in 40 days or so we will be in proper springtime (in the UK anyway). 30DS l3 D5 done today and it felt good actually. Feeling chipper. Happy weekend.

drspouse · 13/02/2015 21:14

Hello
I decided to start 30DS as something I can potentially do during naptime, I've done L1 twice now but I can't rely on doing it every day. I'm assuming I should just therefore do L1 10 times, then L2 etc?

I can't see this working very well for me after I go back to work but then I have some hope of going to the swimming pool during a working day etc.

ElphabaTheGreen · 13/02/2015 21:25

I'm in the same boat drspouse - I fit in Shredding when I can (I think I did the '30 days' wherever I feasibly could over about three months around dodgy naps, ill DCs, days when I was just too fecking tired etc etc) and I really don't know if I'll get anything in when I'm back at work FT in April.

Nevertheless, I shall cram it in where I can and, Scarlett O'Hara stylie, I'll worry about everything else tomorrow Grin

MagpieCursedTea · 14/02/2015 13:01

30DS L1 D9 complete!
Checking in here is giving me great accountability as well as being able to speak to people who've done it. Thanks everyone!
I'm very excited to have almost finished L1 Smile

AtAt · 14/02/2015 13:41

Well done Magpie!

blodynmawr · 14/02/2015 16:22

30DS L3 D4.
Still slightly aching but motivated!
Agree Magpie about checking in here to help with motivation! Smile

AtAt · 15/02/2015 11:34

Just found a great way of doing some of the Natalie style exercises from Level 3-do them in the swimming pool! Just managed to do the jumping lunges and rock star jumps Grin

VitoCorleonePart2 · 15/02/2015 13:22

Had 2 rest days, only intended to have one (Friday) but had so much to do yesterday then had to go and do a backshift so nothing got done.

On backshifts now until Friday so squeezing it in is going to be tough with the kids off school, wish i could get up before them and do it but i don't get home til 11:30pm so being up at 6 is a struggle.

Chased them out to play in the garden this morning and done cardio kickbox. Hopefully will do the same tomorrow.

drspouse · 15/02/2015 14:47

30DS L1 D3 completed. I hate jumping jacks. Please don't tell me if there are still jumping jacks at the higher levels.

I have an old shoulder injury (actually two, one each side, one much older) and I don't have any weights so I've been doing it without. If I get some, what weight should I get? I don't want to get a set having done that in the past and the whole set gathering dust before being taken (with great effort) to the charity shop.
Or is there a home-grown alternative?

MagpieCursedTea · 15/02/2015 15:02

30DS L1 D10 complete! I've finished level 1, woo! Looking forward to level 2 but a bit nervous as well.
I also have an intense dislike of jumping jacks drspouse, hoping they're over with now. I just use little 1.1kg weights but I've heard of people using 500ml water bottles.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/02/2015 15:51

Well done magpie!
drspouse - yes, there are jjs in the other levels but if you really hate them just substitute with something of similar intensity which you prefer. As to weights - well, quite a few people start with bean cans or 500ml water bottles, so do that in the first instance. I'm not sure that you can really improvise much beyond that. TBH I find that I really like having different weights for different exercises - if I was starting again from scratch I'd probably get a set of 3 sizes.

AtAt · 15/02/2015 18:35

Well that was a bit disappointing. Went for a run for the first time since finishing The Shred, and found it really hard. Sad. I did it to try and improve my running, but didn't run whilst doing the shred, so hoping I'm just a bit out of practice. I'm going to do level 1 again tonight, just to make myself not feel quite so pathetic

drspouse · 15/02/2015 19:26

Water bottles, brilliant idea, especially if they are not ultra fat Evian ones so I can grip them properly.

NOooooo I don't want to hear about the jumping jacks la la la.
