Just putting a marker down for a new thread for the Shreddees! All welcome, and it's not limited to the Shred - all those working through any of JM's various forms of torture are very welcome.

Thanks for the support everyone! I feel loads better for getting some energy and strength back.

I did level two day five just now. I am sweating like a pig at the market now!

I'm going to do Ripped in 30 once I've finished. I'm remembering it with trepidation from all your descriptions!

AtAt · 11/02/2015 20:27

Day 30 of The Shred complete!! I'm fairly certain my start weight was around 15.90. Just weighed myself, and am now 15.11 (not sure I entirely trust my scales though!)
It's going to be really strange not doing the shred tomorrow, but I am definitely having a great day. At the start I was getting quite bad moody if I couldn't just come home and do it, as I wanted to get it done and dusted with. I did enjoy it though, and pleased I saw it through, helped in part by the support on here. I'll still be doing the workouts, just not everyday. Thanks allThanks

MagpieCursedTea · 11/02/2015 20:48

Well done AtAt!

ImogenQuy · 12/02/2015 06:44

RI30 L4 D2 done. One day more till my holiday... I ought to take a leaf out of Errol's book and use a range of weights instead of just my 2 kg ones- the trouble is that there isn't time to swap, and if I pause the DVD I'm in danger of losing the will to get on and get it over with. I suppose I just need to line them up somewhere really handy at the beginning of my workout. (I can't do the weighted supermans with proper weights either - I d had a complete and ignominious failure when I tried with 2 kg, and even with 1 kg it's a struggle.)

Well done AtAt! And well done PorkyMinch for getting back to it - it's always hard after a break.

Porky, DS is 4 - old enough to have it explained to him that I won't be home, but not old enough to have even the haziest idea of what my job entails, so we can't explain why I won't be home. Anyway, the end is in sight - I have to leave early this morning but should be able to get home at a reasonable hour tonight.

Well, it was technically a cardio day for me today, but I didn't want to have to put off saying this until next week:

The Thirty Day Shred is DONE!

While it's kind of hard to appreciate the benefits through my fug of prolonged sleep-deprivation, I think I'm probably the fittest now that I've been since having the DCs.

Pre-DS1, I was so hard-core I actually carried on doing ballet, tap, circuit and weight-training up until 38 weeks pg. Then I had two Velcro-baby non-sleepers. Hmm

Much as I'd like to be as thin and toned as I was pre-DCs, I think I'm going to have to accept that, like me and full press-ups, that is never going to happen! Grin

Right, Ri30 starts next week. I only got as far as a few days of L1 with this one before the fatigue and nausea of DS2 in-utero flattened me. It's pretty easy, yes? Wink

ErrolTheDragon · 12/02/2015 09:45

Well done Elpheba and AtAt!

Elpheba, I'm sure you'll find Ripped fine - L1 anyway. L2 seems a bit marmite - I'm rather liking it this time. Can't remember the rest!

Imogen - I really wish she'd give long enough to swap weights. But as I'm in the habit of pausing during the cardio anyway I don't find it a big problem, preferable to either not being able to do the moves properly or else feeling like I'm just waving my arms around. I have the weights I need out on the arms or seat of the armchair - or sometimes if I know I'll just need them on the floor then down near the mat.

Enough talk, I should have done my session by now, having a slow start morning.

AtAt · 12/02/2015 12:31

Elphaba well done!

fukkigucci · 12/02/2015 15:13

Hi all,

Just cam across this thread.
I've been spreading for about 2 weeks now. I'm on day 15 - level 2 of 30ds. I'm really proud of myself that I'm still going. I had to take a couple of days after day of level 2 cos I pulled a muscle. But I got back in to it! I'm trying to do it 6 days a week.
Anyway, I'm seeing results in the mirror, my tummy has gone down a bit and so have my muffins. But I'm not seeing any movement on the scale which is quite disappointing.
I'm also calorie counting on MFP so I thought between the 2 of them I'd see some pounds fall off!!
Any thoughts about this? What are other people's experiences?

Also, anyone else doing MFP? How do you enter the workout?

Thanks!!!

fukkigucci · 12/02/2015 15:13

Excuse the typos! I have been shredding, not spreading!!

ErrolTheDragon · 12/02/2015 15:36

Welcome fukki. It's actually not that uncommon to see the results in the mirror (or with a tape measure) before the scales. Two reasons: one is that muscle is denser than fat, you've probably lost some fat but gained some muscle which is good! The other is that while muscles are repairing after exercising, they contain more water. Put these together and it explains the well-known phenomenon that quite often when people start serious exercise they actually gain a few pounds! (and also, experimental error on weighing a human body really isn't very accurate - can easily be a pound or so out either way due to water and variable gut contents).

I don't use MFP myself, but the advice I've heard from people who do is that if you want to lose weight it may be better to not log your exercise - it's so easy to overestimate.

MagpieCursedTea · 12/02/2015 17:49

Welcome fukki! And well done Elphaba!
I've just completed 30DS L1 D7. I feel so behind everyone else!

ErrolTheDragon · 12/02/2015 17:58

It's not a race, Magpie. Smile

fukkigucci · 12/02/2015 18:07

Thanks!
I've been logging it as moderate aerobics for 30 minutes. But I could stop logging if that's completely off. I find that logging it is part of my motivation. That, and emailing my husband at work after each workout. I feel like I'm accountable to him, and MFP!

So in yours, and other peoples, experience, when will it start showing on the scales? I know I shouldn't be so desperate to see the results there, but I really am!!

ElphabaTheGreen · 12/02/2015 18:10

I'd put it as 20 minutes of circuit training, fukki. It's slightly more than 20 minutes, so hopefully won't lead to overestimating, and it's definitely circuit training.

DeliciousIrony · 12/02/2015 18:23

fukki, I like to log it as 18 minutes circuit training (3 x 6 minute circuits), so not counting warm-up or cool down. I try and aim to eat back about half of my exercise calories, unless I really really want them (or am having a shitty day and ignoring calories altogether).

Did KBATL1 today, and then Shred Level 2. I really felt the shred in my arms from the weights, I think the other DVDs I have neglect the arms a bit. Must try NMTZ again.

I think I am a bit addicted, I am dying to buy the set that has Killer Abs, Hard Body, One Week Shred, Yoga Inferno and a kick-boxing one. But alas I have no money. Maybe I could get DP to get it for me for Valentine's day...

fukkigucci · 12/02/2015 18:29

Ok thanks.
So I'm not supposed to eat back the exercise calories that I gain?
Not sure I can do that! Lol

fukkigucci · 12/02/2015 18:29

Irony - I've been using the shred videos that are on YouTube. Are the ones you want on there perhaps?

Jacksterbear · 12/02/2015 18:49

fukki I always eat back my exercise calories on MFP, when I am using it (every few months to lose the few lbs that have crept on) and still lose weight. I log it as 20 mins circuit training. I would find it very hard to stick to the MFP calorie limit for any length of time, without added exercise calories!

However, I guess if you continue not to lose weight then it might be worth seeing what happens if you don't eat them back.

Also - are you sure you are logging food relatively accurately? It might be worth weighing stuff out for a while and/or getting a set of measuring cups, until you get used to judging portion sizes by eye. It is really easy to underestimate portion sizes, ime. I was really shocked when I realised I was having wayyyyy over the supposedly "standard" portion sizes of lots of foods.

fukkigucci · 12/02/2015 19:04

Thanks for your reply!
Yes, it could be possible that I'm not logging my food properly, I'll take your advice to measure portions etc.

Probably also worth noting that I'm pregnant. Only a few weeks in to the pregnancy. So maybe that's why I'm not losing. (My dr said I'm fine exercising, as I have been doing moderate exercise for a few months!)

PorkyMinch · 12/02/2015 19:05

In my experience, you don't lose much weight from exercising alone. But you do change dramatically in terms of overall tone.

fukkigucci · 12/02/2015 20:28

Tone is good! My tummy is just so blobby and wobbly, it grosses me out. And I'm already seeing some change there, and that's fantastic.

VitoCorleonePart2 · 12/02/2015 20:33

Well decided not to do cardio kickboxing tonight, done level 1 of the 30DS instead, and a 20 min power walk on the treadmill.

I don't weigh myself really, i have a fabric tape measure at take measurements instead, will only actually weigh myself every other month or so.

VitoCorleonePart2 · 12/02/2015 20:35

Forgot to add - well done on the weight loss guys!

ElphabaTheGreen · 12/02/2015 20:46

You are most definitely supposed to eat your exercise calories on MFP - I can't remember the ins and outs as to why, but you are supposed to lose more weight by eating them than not eating them. And yes, there's no point in using MFP unless you're strictlh portions. It's...eye-opening.

fukki Active weight loss now if you're pg is probably not the best idea. Exercise by all means (although not too vigorously as you shouldn't raise your core temperature too high in the first trimester) but don't head into calorie control too aggressively.

ElphabaTheGreen · 12/02/2015 20:46

strictly measuring* portions

Dunno what happened there...
