Wow well done all for getting out in some truly hideous weather. Sounds like some of you have been up against it! My week has been a mad rush of tax return and professional revalidation after work which has meant no running since last Sunday. Can't wait to get out tomorrow!

However I didn't add last weeks miles, which were 8, so 2457.51

BlueChampagne · 31/01/2015 22:30

Belated thanks Suzanne. First time I've done it running, and I didn't go down, so just being gentle as I've got nothing on. Had dodgy ankles forever - once sprained on walking hiking boots! Slightly swollen but not painful. I work i biotech so there are always ice packs i the freezer!

Suzannewithaplan · 31/01/2015 23:03

I last went over on my ankle about 6 months ago
(tripped over nothing whilst walking in a leisurely manner Blush)
It was swollen for months and (counter-intuitively) only went back to normal size when I started running a couple of months ago Confused

clary · 01/02/2015 00:54

Nice weather here today, snow just about gone, did a good 5.16 miles in the last of the daylight as it started to get cold 2462.67

Can I just say that although I don't reply/name people I do try to read at least some of the posts on this mega-thread an am finding what people are writing, as well as the mere fact of posting my miles here, really motivating Grin

karatekimmi · 01/02/2015 07:22

I'm still feeling rough - really tired by the end of the day and still getting morning sickness on occasions. I have my 12 week scan on Thursday and I'm hoping more than expecting that I'll start feeling better soon!!

Although the light evenings and mornings will help I'm sure with motivation to get out for a run.

CLary I'm the same, every time I check the thread there has been so much chat that I cant keep up and I have no I idea what muscle catabolism is!!

ThursdayLast · 01/02/2015 08:04

There's nothing quite like getting out of bed before the toddler on a Sunday morning to drive for hours to the arse end of the country in freezing temperatures to go for a race is there???

Running definitely impairs reasoning sometimes Grin

Tiredemma · 01/02/2015 08:27

This week has been really shit for running because of the snow and ice.

I plan to get out this pm and do at least 5 miles with the dog- signed up last night for the Great Midlands Fun Run (May 31st) and the Birmingham Half Marathon in Oct. So thats almost £60 that ive 'committed' so I need to make sure I get out there and on it!!

Dogs can participate in the May race so ive also signed my cocker spaniel up for it. Im sure she will be thrilled!!

Have you all seen this guest post? I recognise some names from this thread in the comments but wanted to draw it to everyone's attention (appeals if it has already been done - I do read every post, but sometimes its on my phone on my way home from work and I forget).

Very windy here, I've just had breakfast and will be going out a bit later - aiming for 8 miles.

Hope your race goes well Thursday

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/02/2015 09:44

appeals - apologies

Anglaise1 · 01/02/2015 10:36

A gentle 6.5 miles from me this morning from the club session. My knee still isn't right so didn't do the intervals I should have. Am really worried about my marathon as something bad has happened and it hurts. Probably meniscus/cartilage related.
I hope the weather gets better for all of you in the UK. We haven't had the snow here that you have, just plenty of sleet, rain and wind.
So 6.5 for the new month?

cinnamongreyhound · 01/02/2015 10:59

Good luck ThursdayLast, didn't travel far but felt pretty crazy this morning setting an alarm to wake I and run in the snow!

The first trimester is blood tough karatekimmi, I love how we manage to forget it though and think it can't be that bad when we want to have another baby! Enjoy your scan Smile

3.5 snowy, wet and cold miles from me and my doggies with the canicross club. Not sure little dog will forgive me though. She ran in and rubbed herself all over the carpet. Shorter than usual I think because of the weather, plus we had a new lady who was quite a bit slower so we atopped a few times to regroup in the hideousness!

Really enjoyed my slow run of 6.2 this morning. Started off beautiful, lovely sunrise, an inch of snow on the ground. Had fun spotting the icy patches, needed my skating skills! Then we had a wee blizzard, then back to lovely sunshine!
16.2
Anglaise1 I hope your knee injury turns out not to be too serious.

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 01/02/2015 12:03

Good morning runners! Welcome to February, can we get close to our January mileage, do we think?

I have 8.8 to add this morning from my second Sweatshop HM training run. I was a bit more sociable and chatty this time and met some lovely people as we went round.

New total is 25.

Watching Murray v Djokovich on the telly now. That's some level of fitness those guys have going on!!

standingonlego · 01/02/2015 12:49

An fun exploring mixed terrain 8.6 miles from me this morning takes us to 33.6

Watched tennis too - I have to ignore Andy from the neck up (sorry Mrs Murray) but otherwise lovely Blush

Sorelip · 01/02/2015 12:58

Ran the London Winter race this morning. The course was a bit longer than 10k according to my Garmin. I managed 10k in 1:01:05 and I'm so pleased! My left hip flexor started playing up at around 7k, poxy thing. Time for bacon rolls and a hot bath.

39.8

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/02/2015 13:07

Well done Sorelip I was wondering if any of us was doing that London run today - I toyed with the idea, but I work in Central London and run parts of the route most weeks so decided it was a bit expensive to do what I can do any day of the week Smile.

Anglaise watch that knee - DH had a meniscus repair, along with other horrible surgery a couple of years ago after running a marathon on a dodgy knee (well, he got to mile 18 before he had to stop). Turned out he had been running on a ruptured ACL for years Shock so his joint was completely out of alignment.

emummy your run sounds gorgeous.

Well done lego cinnamon and Cardiff for going out today Smile

8.5 here taking us to 48.3

originalpiratematerial · 01/02/2015 13:10

Happy February! 7.55 miles from me to get my month off to a good start. So that is 55.85.

feetheart · 01/02/2015 13:16

I can add a muddy 3.1 inaugural parkrun to the January total so 2465.77

feetheart · 01/02/2015 13:18

Were there snow and polar bears as promised Sorelip? I did think about doing it but didn't get further than that :)

orangeflutie · 01/02/2015 13:23

Hi just dropping in to add 9.5 miles. It was a real effort today. For the first 2 to 3 miles I kept coughing and legs felt heavy. It was also cold and I was starting to think if my run didn't improve I was going home! Well things did improve a bit in the end but not one of my best runs...

Need to do 11 miles next weekend so will keep pushing on through.

Happy February everyoneSmile so glad to be out of January.

5madthings · 01/02/2015 13:38

Good on anyone getting out to run today, so glad I ran yesterday as it's horrid here today!

Can.I ask about stretching, I have some stretching and toning exercises I do after a run, but am feeling g like o should stretch my thighs more, what thigh stretches do people do?

Sorelip · 01/02/2015 14:09

OhOne I live quite close to the route but haven't run it before. Now I have, I can use it more often.

Feetheart there were indeed polar bears and snow. The snow got on my nerves to be honest - it coated my glasses.

I want to do a half marathon next. anyone else entered the ballot for the Royal Parks HM?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/02/2015 14:14

Me! (Royal Parks HM ballot)

5mad I do , thanks to Blathers who linked to it ages ago.

5madthings · 01/02/2015 14:43

Ooh thanks for that ohone shall give it a go :) I have been so lucky with my running, other than the odd bit of achiness I have felt fine but want to make.sure I stretch properly so don't get injured!

postmanpatscat · 01/02/2015 14:51

5 toasty treadmill miles to add makes 70.35 miles so far in February.

Kimmi I've clearly missed something very important - congratulations!!

sorelip there's just me and ohone in the ballot from this thread, as far as I know. Annoyingly there's no way of linking applications, so although I have entered with DP only one of us might get in. If that happens, the other will take a charity place instead, probably Breakthrough Breast Cancer because of my DSis, and we'll both raise money towards the minimum expected.
