3.5 from me for parkrun and a warm up 2401.7

5madthings · 31/01/2015 12:28

6.5 from me in an hour and 6 mins, not too fast but my longest distance since the London bupa 10km I did. First 3km were horrible but once I got going it was fine. My pace varied from a km in 6:10 to a know in 6:45 so pretty consistent and it was s comfortable pace that I can keep up iykwim?

2408.2

Apophenia · 31/01/2015 12:42

3.1 treadmill miles from me. Smile

2411.3

Sirzy · 31/01/2015 12:53

2.7 miles from me cut short by rain. 2415

HesterShaw · 31/01/2015 13:39

2.1 miles from me, though the wind cut it short as well as a dodgy tummy. It's SO windy :(

Part of my run inolves the coast path. "Cutting it short" meant I had to leap from rock to rock across a stream (well it's a river at the moment) and crawl through the tunnel which takes the stream under the road. Such fun Hmm

HesterShaw · 31/01/2015 13:39

2417.1

Neeko · 31/01/2015 14:07

2417.1 +3.55= 2420.65

That was tough for me today. I just wasn't feeling it.

Anyone got another 80 miles up their sleeve?

Sirzy · 31/01/2015 14:22

I normally road/path run but quite fancy trying some trail runs. Anyone want to reccomend some good (not too expensive) trail shoes?

Suzannewithaplan · 31/01/2015 15:32

12.03 from me=
2432.68

ThursdayLast · 31/01/2015 15:42

Thanks OhOne it wasn't a bad roll, but I did have to stop and walk a bit - I git the 'but-ive-got-a-race-tomorrow' fear!

Sirzy I got some fairly cheap and cheerful adidas Kanadias from sports direct. I got ugly ones which made them a bit cheaper Smile. They gave stood me in good stead grip wise, but I would recommend sizing up a size or a half. My big toes are not their biggest fans!

actiongirl1978 · 31/01/2015 17:27

Hi everyone.

I am adding 10.63 of the most painful, cold, miserable, windswept, GI distressed miles I have ever run.

It was the kind of run where you make yourself go out the door with the promise that you will feel better after a couple of miles and after 5 miles you will be having fun. Well. No. It was awful from start to finish.

But I did it and we are going out for Chinese this evening so I intend to eat every damned calorie I earnt today.

Can you tell I am cross? Angry

And to top it all off, I thought it was at least 11 miles and it was only 10.63.

Hester I like the sound of where you live... can you give a rough location, sounds lovely (well maybe in the summer!)

Thursday I hope you feel better

Neeko you and me both. I blame the weather, I NEED THE SPRING NOW!

Suzannewithaplan · 31/01/2015 17:48

sorry to hear that Actiongirl:(
are you making no progress on the GI distress front?

Re the cold, I am quite scared of being too cold so I always start out with a jacket and then take it off when I get warmed up.

If there's any threat of rain I take a waterproof jacket.
There have been a few runs where it rained heavily but because I had a good jacket with a hood that you can tighten up around your face I was comfortable and able to carry on and enjoy the run
Without the jacket I'd have been convinced that death from exposure was imminent.

Also no longer take a hat but take a fleece headband to put over the hood if need be

HesterShaw · 31/01/2015 17:54

actiongirl that sounds shit :(

I live in the far south west. Very far south west!

I'm finding the hood thing much better than a hat. In a hat I just overheat, but in my running/cycling cagoule as soon as I start getting earache the hood comes up and the earache goes. But then I don't have as cold weather as a lot of you.

ThursdayLast · 31/01/2015 17:56

Ah thank you action I'm sorry you've not had much fun today either. It rally wasn't a day for running today was it? And yet we all did it anyway...

Neeko · 31/01/2015 18:03

It won't be long til spring and better weather hopefully Actiongirl. Enjoy eating those calories. You stuck it out nearly 3x as far as I did. Smile

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/01/2015 18:19

action that sounds horrible BUT YOU DID IT!!!! Well done for even setting foot out of the door and going so far.

Enjoy your Chinese meal.

Your next run will be better, I promise Smile

Sazorchard31 · 31/01/2015 18:27

Ladies I feel so lazy as I've done no running all week, apart from 0.5miles on the treadmill before an abs class.
Dh been away all week but that's no excuse as I could have gone to the gym at lunch, though I did do two abs classes.

Need motivation! And no wind, can't even consider it today as can't even breathe getting out the house as it's so windy!

Sazorchard31 · 31/01/2015 18:28

Action I am super impressed at you getting out and continuing, id have given up!

HesterShaw · 31/01/2015 18:50

The wind is supposed to start dying down by the end of tomorrow. I fully expect to be Jo Pavey when it does.

ThursdayLast · 31/01/2015 18:59

Hester I'm down your way tomorrow for my 10k - please can you make the weather nice please please thank you

HesterShaw · 31/01/2015 19:04

It does look lovely - dry and sunny though freezing and windy. Good luck!

If you see a woman with a bobble hat on and a furry hood maybe it'll be me :)

cinnamongreyhound · 31/01/2015 19:21

sorry you had a rubbish run Actiongirl1978 :( enjoy your Chinese!!!!

We had a covering of snow on the ground for parkrun which melted quickly but then it has chucked it down with snow and rain constantly since 2pm. The forest is very wet today and I'm running with my canicross club tomorrow, hope we don't drown and freeze!

karatekimmi · 31/01/2015 19:30

just two parkruns to add from me, plus the awesome actions 10.63 which makes 2449.51

I did my 50th parkrun today, and next week, I need to stop wimping out of runs!! Harcore next week!!

cinnamongreyhound · 31/01/2015 19:45

How you feeling karatekimmi?

Apophenia · 31/01/2015 20:51

I'm so impressed with the numbers we have pulled this month, genuinely chuffed to be part of it.

Some of you may remember that I started the month by blowing the motor on my treadmill, meaning I've been stuck with running when it wasn't snowy or icy (live in the back of beyond, up in the hills) or when I can get to the nearest gym. So not very much at all.
Today I ordered my new treadmill. Arrives this week. Oh yes. Bring it on. Grin
