Happy New Year, everyone. If you've got a New Year resolution to do more exercise and think crazy Jillian may be the answer, come and sign in here for moral support, chat and a chance to moan.

Ripped in 30 L1 D2 done. Still hate cardio, but it felt like a good start to the year.

Well done, Imogen - doing it when you really don't feel like it exercises your character as well as your body Smile

Not done mine yet - but I have unblocked the dishwasher pump which I'm more proud of than I probably should be. Grin

Jacksterbear · 29/01/2015 09:36

doing it when you really don't feel like it exercises your character as well as your body - I love that, Errol! Smile

DeliciousIrony · 29/01/2015 12:06

Does anyone know where I could find Ripped Week 3 online? My original Ripped DVD suddenly failed after a few successful plays, and now I have bought 2 subsequent DVDs which refuse to play as well. It's bizarre. And my laptop disc drive doesn't work very well...I know that week 1, 2, and 4 are on youtube but the only upload of 3 I can find "is not available in my country".

ethelb · 29/01/2015 13:14

Did 30ds l2d4 yesterday lunchtime. Then went to zumba and my knee started hurting Hmm
Still sore today though it is getting better. Any ideas what I should do. I was going to lay off 30ds today and do a long yoga session later. Any ideas how to make my knee feel better?

ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2015 13:20

Ri30L1D4 done. Anyone who moves onto ripped after shred - if you feel as though some of the cardio intervals are taking a long time then look at a clock - some of them she goes way over 30 secs!

Irony - sorry, I've got the dvd and mine works fine.

ethel - good idea to do something else till the knee is better. I don't know if there's anything other than rest which really helps joints, but codliver oil might and is quite good for you anyway.

ScienceRocks · 29/01/2015 16:18

Irony, I had the same problem with ripped. It played once, then refused to play again. Turned out that it wasn't PAL so would play on a DVD player but not through my PS3 (which I use as a DVD player). Well, that's what Amazon told me when I queried it, though it doesn't explain why it played at all! I bought a second one from play.com but that wouldn't play at all, and I haven't tried again. So check for whether the disc has PAL written on it - the rest of my jillian dvds do, but that one didn't. Odd.

I did level 1 of the body revolution today. I enjoyed it but I think that's probably because it was too easy.

My knees are still sore from trying to do camel on yoga meltdown the other day Sad

Sarahlouboo · 29/01/2015 19:22

I am another one who had trouble with rippedin30 dvd. DH has got it on the computer for me now.

Since there has been lots of chat about RI30L2 I gave it a go tonight for old times sake and blimey that cardio plank section is hardcore! If I can ever get through that without stopping (or wanting to throw up) then I will know I have cracked it! On the plus side I can actually get my arse off the floor on those bum raise/crab type moves Smile!

DeliciousIrony · 29/01/2015 19:26

Oh that's interesting, we always use the ps3 as a DVD player, but it plays all of her other DVDs (including ones that came in a set with Ripped) fine. How disappointing.

Jacksterbear · 29/01/2015 19:27

Science, afaik most UK DVD players are automatically multi-region, but PS and laptop playback software are not. Interestingly just checked my JM dvds and my Ri30 is not labelled PAL either, but the others all are. Weird.

ES&S L1 done today.

CheshirePanda · 29/01/2015 20:54

Hi all
30DS l2 D9 done. Just eaten Apple and pear crumble however (no cream though)!

ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2015 22:45

I always use the normal DVD player with the TV, maybe that's why I've had no problems with my Ri30 disc (though come to think it sometimes misbehaves a bit if I try to FF through the crap at the start). It was in a 3 pack with KB&T (which is good) and Extreme Shred&Shed(which I didn't like).

There's a thought... I also didn't like 6w6p, can't imagine getting it out again. If anyone would like that and/or ES&S, pm me and I'll pop it in the post.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2015 22:47

Apple and pear crumble? Two of your 5 a day, surely? Wink
I've got some rhubarb in the fridge waiting to be turned into crumble. I'm on a 2 day of 5:2 today, but I can have that tomorrow! Smile

ImogenQuy · 30/01/2015 07:01

Yoga Inferno L1 D3 done. I'm not getting any better at this, and one-legged mountain climbers are the pits. On the plus side my balance seems to be much better today than it was yesterday. The weekend is nigh - if DH takes DS to see his aunt overnight tonight I might do a JM when I get up tomorrow with the house to myself, but if he decides the weather's too bad I won't do any more till Monday.

Thanks for the encouragement, Errol. I know I have to get out of bed and do it, however little I feel like it, because I mustn't get out of the habit. This morning was easier, fortunately.

Odd about Ripped. Like Errol I've only ever played it through the ordinary DVD player. It won't let me FF through the crap at the start, but if I press Disc Menu on the remote it lets me jump straight to the workouts.

Sorry about your knees, Science. I found I had to be very careful with the camel pose - if my knees so much as twinged I didn't do the bit with both arms at once, and there were days when I had to give up and skip it altogether. Weirdly L2 of Yoga Meltdown is significantly easier than L1, I think, apart from a couple of "bonus moves" that are just plain impossible. I have Body Revolution and am planning to move onto it in March!

30ds l1d3 yesterday. My muscles hardly hurt at all today, even my arms which is a huuugge difference from the first two days. I did take it easier on the cardio bits as my shins are hurting a bit from running, really is time for new trainers. Are all JM videos 'bouncy' for want of a better word, involving the legs? Worried in case this is the start of shin splints and don't want to make it worse, on the other hand I don't want to do nothing. The yoga one I've seen mentioned?

Sarahlouboo · 30/01/2015 09:52

Amerhystus - I would say most of the cardio sections are pretty bouncy! The yoga isn't so might be better for your shins? Or you could do the low impact version of the cardio exercises but keep hold of some weights? My knees really suffer when doing high knees so I have all but given up on doing them and just do the low impact version.

Sarahlouboo · 30/01/2015 09:53

Sorry - spelt your name incorrectly!

Jacksterbear · 30/01/2015 13:00

Amethystus you could try "No more trouble zones" for a non-bouncy JM workout. It's all strength stuff with no plyo.

blodynmawr · 30/01/2015 14:24

30DS L2 D10.
Still wimping out of L3... but in mitigation feeling sniffly and sore throaty so may need to take a few days off...
But I will try not to though - completely agree with Imogen about religiously getting up and doing it first thing to keep the habit up!
I have a work black tie do mid Feb as an added incentive to keep exercising regularly!

ErrolTheDragon · 30/01/2015 18:34

Much better do the low-impact versions (or substitutions) than hurt knees or shins.

Touch wood I've been OK so far - I always wear trainers and have an offcut of carpet on top of the proper one which I do the 'bouncy' stuff on. The extra layer was introduced to stop me scuffing up the living room, but it probably doesn't do me any harm either. I've got a mat too for the abs and for anything where I need to have my hands down, I hate the feel of carpet.

InkyPinkyPonkyPoo · 31/01/2015 06:04

Hi all, so illness has meant that 30DS had to be abandoned this week. Odly I feel more tired for not doing it than when I was! I don't think I'll be able to get started again today but we will see. Glad to see you're all getting on well Smile

ScienceRocks · 31/01/2015 09:46

Amethystus, I got shin splints the first time I did the shred! I think it was the jump rope that killed me (but stupidly, I was doing it in bare feet). I rested them completely for a few weeks then wore proper trainers once they had healed and haven't had them since.

In the meantime, if you want to carry on jillianing, you could try body revolution as the cardio and resistance workouts are split by disc, so you could just do the resistance workouts and maybe just substitute punches for the little cardio there is.

ImogenQuy · 31/01/2015 10:39

Did No More Trouble Zones this morning - bonus workout not in the plan, as DH and DS are away. Amethystus, that would be a good low-impact one if you're worried about shin splints: apart from the warm-up there's no cardio at all. Yoga Meltdown is also very low impact, but Yoga Inferno is not - she makes you do sodding jumping lunges, which I wasn't expecting in a yoga DVD.

I think good trainers are key: I got sore knees and ankles when I first started doing JM, because I was doing the Shred in a crummy pair of trainers that I bought for £10 on Amazon. I got some proper ones a few weeks in (and keep them just for my workouts), and I've had no problems since.

Night at friends, did shred level 2 this morning, tired now, glad I got it out of the way before I completely sobered up!

wibblyjelly · 31/01/2015 20:40

Have been out all day, so was very close to not shredding. Did it though! One more day at level 2Smile

ImogenQuy · 31/01/2015 20:54

I've created a February thread here to encourage everyone, especially the tidy-minded.
