Happy New Year, everyone. If you've got a New Year resolution to do more exercise and think crazy Jillian may be the answer, come and sign in here for moral support, chat and a chance to moan.

Ripped in 30 L1 D2 done. Still hate cardio, but it felt like a good start to the year.

Ill take that close enough Wink We only did it aged 11/12 for some reason. I love Buffy Spike

wibblyjelly · 25/01/2015 18:10

L2D3 and I really struggled today. Think 3 days of planking, and having no upper body strength caught up with me!

On a brighter note, someone told me I looked like I have lost some weight, which made me Grin

InkyPinkyPonkyPoo · 25/01/2015 20:36

Just checking in to say L1D2 done, I think my legs might hurt in the morning Confused

Bimblepops · 25/01/2015 20:42

A seriously poor week from me...

Mon - RI30, W2, D6
Tues/Weds/Thurs/Fri/Sat - bugger all, just sulked and felt bad about myself
Sun - RI30, W3, D1 done

Very poor show. Must get back into the habit next week...

jemma2609 · 25/01/2015 20:51

Have done 30 DS and Ripped in 30. Yoga meltdown L2D2 for me. Required nurofen this afternoon as legs agony!

ImogenQuy · 26/01/2015 07:08

Yoga Inferno L1 D1 done. This is a lot harder than Yoga Meltdown and has even less to do with actual yoga. It moves faster, you need better co-ordination and flexibility and it has cardio intervals too - squat jacks, plank jacks, one-legged mountain climbers and other non-yoga horrors. I'll persist with it for a little while and see how I get on, but it may be that my co-ordination isn't up to it.

Sarahlouboo, thanks for reporting back on JM live. She weighs about the same as I do, and I think she's about my height (there are no other points of resemblance). I always find it very cheering that she's short and not a conventional model type.

Welcome Amethystus! It gets easier, promise. I have no upper body strength either, but JM has improved it - I started with tins of beans and I'm now up to 2kg weights after about 8 months.

Nope. Can't do it today. I've got L3 all queued up but the sleep deprivation is seriously flattening me today. I had a really big walk with DS2 in the sling yesterday which has probably contributed to the exhaustion today, in addition to his 8+ wake-ups in the night every fucking night

I shall use his nap to have a nice shower today and hope I can get back on the horse tomorrow.

ethelb · 26/01/2015 09:53

30DS L2D2 done.

tabulahrasa · 26/01/2015 10:36

30DSL1D6 done...though I suppose it should really be day 1 after a week and a bit off, but I'm not starting again, lol

ErrolTheDragon · 26/01/2015 13:00

I decide on Ri30 ... so, Ri30L1D1. Enjoyed (most) of that! Smile Which I wouldn't have necessarily said last year.

Amethystus - put up with the ache for 3-4 days and honestly, it will get better and it should definitely help build upper body strength. That was one of the reasons I started doing JM. My DD developed a passion for windsurfing, and I wanted to do it too but was just too feeble to lift the rig. I got sick of standing on the shore hearing myself whine about having no upper body strength; the lovely instructors let me start off with the little kiddy rigs and now I can use (small) adult ones - still can barely lift and certainly not use the ones DD likes, but I can do enough to have fun. And can sail better too. Smile

It really is worth the time, IMO - it makes the rest of life more enjoyable!

InkyPinkyPonkyPoo · 26/01/2015 18:14

30DS L1D3 done!

BalloonSlayer · 26/01/2015 18:27

R130 L2D1 done!

Still really struggle to keep going. Sad

At least I am trying...

Sarahlouboo · 26/01/2015 18:52

Balloonslayer - RI30 L2 is really difficult, keep going, it will get easier honest Smile, I think the mental battle of getting changed and putting on the DVD is an achievement in itself some days!

I know this is not a Shaun T thread but I ended up doing T25 with my DH today. If you have tried insanity and found it too hard core, I can highly recommend T25 (but not if you don't like cardio!). I really enjoyed it and I am glad I did it because I am in a bit of a flunk with myself at the moment and was very tempted to sit and eat biscuits instead!

wibblyjelly · 26/01/2015 20:56

L2D4 very proud I did a few sections without stopping tonight. I really thought I'd done myself some damage this morning, as I couldn't put weight on my foot first thing. 2 year old ds was holding my hand, asking if I was ok Grin Luckily it eased off

I am celebrating getting to 2 weeks by having a sneaky glass of wine....

CheshirePanda · 26/01/2015 21:05

Hello all

Just checking in....On Sat I went mountain biking, so no Jillian, but I don't feel bad about that. It was 2 hrs of cardio, legs and arms, and lovely in the (partial) sunshine. Sunday I wasn't feeling psyched, so no Jillilan. But today got L2 D6 (30DS) done. It was fine, I substituted a few lower impact cardio moves in to replace the jacks etc and I followed Anita. my knees and ankles said thank you.

big Flowers to Elphaba for 8 wake ups last night! It's amazing you are doing so much activity and kindly helping us with technique etc with that to deal with too.

I am 16 days in, so more than half way! I didn't think I would get this far, and I am sure it's is thread that has made the difference. Yay! Thanks all, Cake all round

JustOneMoreGin · 26/01/2015 21:33

L2 D3 done and day 7 of the 30 day squat challenge. Cannot for the life of me coordinate my limbs to do the leg/arm twisty things Hmm

Bimblepops · 26/01/2015 21:40

RI30, W3, D2 done. Quicker than yesterday and I think much better technique this time.

My shoulders, quads and triceps are going to be killing me tomorrow...

Well done to everyone for persevering!

ErrolTheDragon · 26/01/2015 22:25

Grin 'leg/arm twisty things' - good description! I didn't used to be able to do those either, but I can now. Similarly with the 'running man' (I call it Spotty Dog walk, though maybe you have to be as old as me to understand the reference) in Ri30. I don't suppose it matters too much anyway though, just have a good flail around!

ImogenQuy · 27/01/2015 07:04

RI30 L3 D1 done. Such a relief to be off L2 (Balloonslayer, don't be discouraged - I think L2 is the worst of the lot). But I'm a bit miffed that both this workout and Yoga Inferno L1 have jumping lunges in them - I'm going to be doing jumping lunges every day for 2 weeks, which is not what I would have chosen!

Also biked to work yesterday, so I'm not doing too badly on the cardio front.

Thanks, Elphaba. Hang in there - I hope it gets better soon.

CheshirePanda, glad the thread's helpful. I find it really motivates me posting on here - I'm worrying slightly what I'm going to do if I give up MN for Lent again this year.

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 27/01/2015 09:18

Urgh, I need to get moving. I don't like starting before it's properly daylight, but if I sit down and start working/MN-ing it's hard to overcome inertia.

ElphabaTheGreen · 27/01/2015 09:30

Mojo sufficiently recovered to get 30DS L3D6 half-arsedly done.

Not expecting anything to get better of its own accord, sadly, but thanks Imogen and CheshirePanda. DS1 and DS2 are/were equally awful, awful sleepers despite having done everything 'right' since birth to engender good sleep habits. For reasons known only to themselves they need/ed to wake every one to two hours, or more, all night, every night from birth. DS1 finally got 'sorted' at 21 months old by an amazing sleep consultant, after all conventional sleep training methods had been exhausted, so I'm actually talking with her today about DS2. I'm back to work full time in April and I do not want to do it considering a 'good' night to be six wake-ups like I did with DS1! I survived, but gods it was hard!

On the flip side, I would never have found Mumsnet if I'd had good sleepers, so every cloud, eh? Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 27/01/2015 10:56

Elpheba - this too shall pass, though it does seem interminable at the time (my DD was a very poor sleeper, but at least just the one not a tag team!).

tabulahrasa · 27/01/2015 14:36

30DSL1D7... It was hard today, why are some days just harder than others?

DeliciousIrony · 27/01/2015 15:22

Have done no exercise, with Jillian or otherwise, since Saturday...due to hangover on Sunday and a rotten cold yesterday and today. Must try and do something tomorrow.

I did try NMTZ on Saturday, found it really difficult but will try and make sure I do it at least once per week, on rotation with the others, as I could really do with more uper body strength. I was a bit cocky at the start and got the 3kg weights out, only to drop down to the 2kgs pretty sharpish...

Some days are definitely harder than others tabulah, especially if you're not used to doing something like that everyday. Stuff like the time of day, what you've eaten/drunk, generally feeling distracted and not motivated...by day 7 of the any level of the shred I was starting to get a bit bored of it and anticipating the next level anyway, which can make it feel like harder work.

tabulahrasa · 27/01/2015 15:31

I've been doing it on and off for ages, I've completed it once, nearly completed it a couple more...it just always surprises me when suddenly one day is harder for no reason I can think of, lol.

It could be boredom, I did consider skipping to level 2...then I remembered I hate level 2.
