Happy New Year, everyone. If you've got a New Year resolution to do more exercise and think crazy Jillian may be the answer, come and sign in here for moral support, chat and a chance to moan.

Ripped in 30 L1 D2 done. Still hate cardio, but it felt like a good start to the year.

Imogen, thank you for highlighting Yoga Meltdown. It looks fab.

Mooogles · 02/01/2015 09:23

Ditto re yoga meltdown.. Will hVe to give that a go.

Is the general consensus that ripped is harder than the shred? If so, I need to stick with the shred for now.... I can't manage everything, need to do press ups on my knees...

jemma2609 · 02/01/2015 11:30

I am definitely finding ripped more difficult. Am doing lots of the beginner moves as find it tough on my knees. Confused Going to attempt week 4 tomorrow but the yoga one sounds good too-might see if I can find that.

Hello can I join? Just done Shred L1 D1 and hope to finish on the last day of Jan. I'm usually quite fit, run a lot, do Insanity etc but had a long lay off. Found it tough but doable. Followed it with a 30 min Fitness Blender workout.
I hasten to add I won't usually be doing loads each day, but I felt like doing a bit more today!

SallyFinkelstein · 02/01/2015 14:01

I started the shred again today as well with the aim to finish on the 31st. Have attempted many times before, even been on previous threads, but never made it past 11/12 days. Let's see if I can at least make it halfway this time!

Jacksterbear · 02/01/2015 16:20

Mooogles yes generally people find Ripped L2-4 harder than Shred (although L1 Ripped is probably easier). One thing that I find easier about Ripped is that the strength circuits are 3 moves for 30 seconds each then repeat, rather than 2 moves - one for 30 secs then one for 1 min - then repeat. The 1 min in shred seems v long!

Stepped on the scale today, urghhh. 4.5lbs put on over Xmas. Have re-started logging on MFP and have done L2 Ripped (my favourite, good all round workout, with the best motivational line: "you're not going to die from getting uncomfortable" Grin).

Mooogles · 02/01/2015 18:36

Jacksterbear, 4.5 lbs isn't too bad... I am still too scared to weigh myself...

I am doing shredded... And hopefully I will alternate with Yoga Meltdown. Day 1 done and, as stated on another thread, thoroughly devastated; I knew I had gained weight but I didn't actually realise how unhealthy I am. Time for healthy change! Smile

RI30 L1D1 complete - OMG Shock the planks are hard, I can't even manage the beginner version Blush and I'm only on day 1, level 1 Blush Blush .....

Jillian mentions at the start of RI30 that you should have some heavy and light weights, i only have one set of Davinia 1kg, what does everyone else use?

ElphabaTheGreen · 02/01/2015 20:44

2kg. It's been a while since I did Ri30 (will be my next stop if the DCs ever let me get through 30DS) but I used 2kg there IIRC. If it's a really big muscle group like lats, and I'm feeling very energetic, I might brave my 5kg.

Jacksterbear · 02/01/2015 21:11

Hang in there emmie it will get easier (although it takes a while). I use 3kgs but it's taken me 3.5 years of Jillian to work my way up to that! If you're not naturally strong 1kgs are a good starting point IMO.

youbethemummylion · 02/01/2015 21:16

L1D2 of the 30 day shred and despite not being able to move properly all day after yesterdays efforts I actually found it easier than yesterday, I've surprised myself!

emmief77 · 02/01/2015 21:20

thanks Flowers Elphaba and Jackster

Didn't find using my weights too bad, but like I said I've only got a 1kg set Blush might treat myself to a heavier set in the NYE sales but OMG those planks....... i couldn't even get off the ground for the side planks Blush Blush

emmief77 · 02/01/2015 21:23

well done on completing D2 mummylion we can do this Grin Grin

emmief77 · 02/01/2015 21:39

Elphaba what are IIRC weights?

ElphabaTheGreen · 02/01/2015 21:46

IIRC - 'if I recall correctly'. It's an acronym for lazy sods and us what are on on iPhones, not a kind of weight Grin

Littleorangetree · 02/01/2015 22:06

I'd like to join the thread please! Just done 30DS L1 D2. This is my second attempt at it - last time I managed to get half way through level 2 before throwing in the towel. This time I'm hoping to at least keep it up til I reach level 3. Grin

emmief77 · 02/01/2015 22:06

Elphaba Grin Grin Grin ha ha ha

Gen35 · 02/01/2015 22:19

I'm doing the shred L1D6 tomorrow, I've started it twice before but always lose motivation in L2. would like to lose 13 lb to be 10 St before feb half term...but that's been the goal for the last 2 years!

PrivateBenjamin · 02/01/2015 23:02

I'm in, I want to be a shreddie! Did 30ds L1D2 today. Then I demolished a box of Ferrero rocher so I feel like I need more motivation.

I still can't do the side lunge with anterior raise (3rd time doing the shred...). I don't think I have an anterior muscle, I just can't do it, I'm only using 2kg weights too. My inner thighs are killing today, and the front of my armpit.

FullOfChoc · 02/01/2015 23:06

I started the 30ds, waiting to see if I ache in the morning!

CointreauVersial · 02/01/2015 23:36

How fortunate that I've stumbled across this thread. DD1 (who's 13) and I are planning to have a go at this.

I note the videos are available on YouTube, but do I need to get some weights? What weight?

And are you supposed to do it every day?

CointreauVersial · 02/01/2015 23:38

(it's the Shred I'm talking about)

PrivateBenjamin · 03/01/2015 00:07

Cointreau you can use tins of beans if you don't have weights. I use 2kg dumbells.
