Hi, can I join you? I'm running the StIves 10k in July too and worrying about how hot it will be. Doing my first HM race in September. Started running March 2013 with C25k and have the running bug now Smile
Yesterday my tempo run was 6 miles (it was tempo interval sections), got a niggly knee today so resting up until tomorrow. The sun has come out and looks lovely for a run too .

How many Cambs runners are on here, there seems to be a few?

New total is 46.4 miles

EauRouge · 03/05/2014 15:26

Me, I'm in Cambs! Just north of Huntingdon. Although I'm not technically a runner at the moment, more of a hobbler or a limper. Which HM are you doing?

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 03/05/2014 15:44

Hi runkittyrun Smile

I'm in cambs too (st ives) and am intending to run both Huntingdon and st ives 10kms....and Peterborough half...

postmanpatscat · 03/05/2014 16:35

I 'parkrunned' this morning, 10 secs slower than my PB which is pretty good considering I have a cold + TOTM + red eye therefore only one contact lens in and it's a multi-terrain course!

I ran there and back too, so can add 7.5km to our total and that's 4.66 miles! Definitely need to work in km next time.

51 miles so far (we'll forget about the 0.06)

When I was dithering yesterday wondering when DP was going to get back from his run, he eventually turned up 1hr 20 mins after I got home, having spent the last two and a half hours running 30km! He is turning into Forrest Gump...

AmberNectarine · 03/05/2014 16:43

Can contribute 9km, so a further 5.5 miles to the running total as went for a lovely, sunny run this afternoon. Have been taking my speed work seriously recently and it is paying off - came in just under 57mins which is 6mins faster than the same distance just before Easter.

MelanieCheeks · 03/05/2014 16:43

Oooh, great parkrun this morning - I just felt good, started fast, tailed off a bit, but still PBed at 26:19 (an age grading of about 66%, which I'm thoroughly pleased with)

Will be doing a leg of the Belfast Marathon on Monday, and have sigend up for a 10k in June.

AmberNectarine · 03/05/2014 16:44

So new total 56.5!

cinnamongreyhound · 03/05/2014 17:08

I'm planning at 10K in July but worried about the heat too, probably pour this year as I'm doing it!

Looking dry for my hm tomorrow anyway.

I tailran at parkrun today so that's another 3.1miles to add, although walked a few bits to stay at the back.

Total 59.6 miles

cinnamongreyhound · 03/05/2014 17:09

Also, should add I don't think my socks are two skin and they're very comfy just think with them I could do with bigger trainers as they're quite thick.

ThursdayLast · 03/05/2014 17:20

Good luck tomorrow cinnamon!

originalpiratematerial · 03/05/2014 18:08

Good luck tomorrow cinnamon

I think the lurgy that has been threatening me for a few days has really taken hold now - am all shivery and my throat hurts - so no running for a day or two Sad.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 03/05/2014 18:16

DH just got in, having given my new garmin a go, he ran 10km in 46 mins EnvyAngryEnvyAngry

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 03/05/2014 18:17

Hope you feel better soon, original!

anotherbitofcake · 03/05/2014 18:21

5 miles to add from me Grin think will just about manage 10k next week but not at any speed. Pelvic floors don't feel quite right still. Will be sqeeeezing them all next week.

Halloumi - GPs can be v annoying. Know loads of stuff but nothing in great depth. I was told not to run when pregnant which was also bollox. Even nhs website says its fine in moderation. You could also throw in the comment that female runners tend to get better with age. We r like fine wines! Look at kara goucher, Paula Radcliffe, mara whatshername jo pavey etc etc i could go on...

AmberNectarine · 03/05/2014 18:32

My favourite socks are Thorlo Pads, but they are £12.50 a pair! I alternate with el cheapo Karrimors and there is virtually no difference, the Thorlos just keep my feet slightly cooler.

Chopstheduck · 03/05/2014 18:40

Hello ladies

I will hopefully get some done tomo, got back late today and far too tired now to go out.

We went to Costco this aft, they had some lovely cheap running tops. I got a nike technical top for £17 with a 3/4 zip at the front, mesh back, and little zip pocket in the back. They have quite a few different nike ones. They also have plain under armour tops in various colours for £11. I got one of those too.

briteside · 03/05/2014 19:14

I am back from a horrid run, one of those where every step feels like an effort. Annoying! Anyway, it was 2.8 miles every little helps..

the new total is 62.4 miles

I just had to google how to add miles together, I am a metrics girl! Blush

Hope you get better soon pirate

Which Garmin did you go for degust ?

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 03/05/2014 19:49

Oh Briteside my run was like that too, a real "wading through treacle" run Hmm. Planning to really push myself on 10kms tomorrow.

I ended up getting the 220, I luffs it Grin

Runkittyrun · 03/05/2014 19:53

Eaurouge I'm doing Grunty Fen in Witchford, it's my club's HM. Pretty flat, was marshalling last year. Was thinking about giving the Soham HM a go (in 2 weeks) but think some more 10ks might be better.

Runkittyrun · 03/05/2014 19:55

Hi degust I'm in Ely. When's the Huntingdon 10k?

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 03/05/2014 20:01

Runkittyrun it's Sunday 15th June Smile

Mitchy1nge · 03/05/2014 20:15

I have 4 miles to add making 66.4 which marks long run number 1 of this training plan :)

I was wearing black nike socks and my mizuno wave shoes, and this is where I ran and who I was with

Isn't it great degust..I love looking on Garmin Connect at all the graphs afterwards. I am also aiming at a long run tomorrow or Monday (probably Monday as we have plans for all day tomorrow).

nice mitchy Much more scenic than my route. Was that dinner that the dogs caught?

Mitchy1nge · 03/05/2014 20:29

yes, they also ate a baby rabbit between them

up until the bit where the LIVE pheasant was deposited I was thinking how they are the best running companions, much as I love human company on a run

LostMyPants · 03/05/2014 20:32

Please can you lot solve my disagreement with DH.... I'm pretty new to this running thing. Done a couple of 2.4k runs and up to 2.7k today. I said I was planning to get up to 5k. DH says that I shouldn't up my distance until I'm running the whole lot without any walking. I'm walking about 100m total at the moment, in 2 or 3 slots.

What do you guys think?
