Hi struggling to keep up here too!

Went to see podiatrist yesterday and it turns out I probably have a hairline fracture on my right foot behind the metatarsalsConfusedNot great news. However the pod seems to think I'm about 3 weeks into healing process (6wks total) so has told me to ice and wear some cushioning on my orthotics. Am also still allowed to run a bit. It's an odd thing though as it only hurts occasionally.

Pirate hope you get better soon and I totally get the worry about losing fitness.

Soft kitty you can choose a charity to run for and them set up a Justgiving page. I did this when I ran VLM. You can then raise as much or little as you want.

orangeflutie · 07/05/2014 12:18

Morrigu it's probably best to take it easy re your ankle. As you pronate do you wear support trainers?

ThursdayLast · 07/05/2014 12:21

new total 294

Morrigu · 07/05/2014 13:01

That's encouraging thanks feetheart. I hate the thought of spending ££ on myself but justifying it a bit by telling myself I'm probably better getting issues like this sorted as they will come up and bite me in the bum in old age.

I do wear support trainers orangeflutie (Brooks adrenaline that are only a few months old). Hope your hairline fracture heals soon, sounds painful even if it isn't Grin. Yep I will be taking it easy. Did some strengthening exercises yesterday instead and will work on my core and abs later tonight I think as I feel like a right sloth not going for my usual run today.

cinnamongreyhound · 07/05/2014 13:11

I'm the same originalpiratematerial there is no logic! I ran a half marathon Sunday and still had doubts after 2 days off when I went this morning, do think I might be slightly mad!!! Two of my doggy running group had injuries at the same time, after 2 weeks off both did 3-4 4 milers and then they did an 8 mile run together no probs within 10 days! Hope you feel better soon.

I don't enter for charity because I'm rubbish at asking SoftKittyWarmKitty! I run the races for me and no one else and that why I don't feel I have to do something because people are relying me.

That's rubbish Morrigu, hope you get it sorted soon. A club mate of mine has had to relearn how to walk and run as he natural stride was causing her lots of hip and knee problems. Don't see why you have to discount the 10k though, see what they say first.

Oh no sorry to hear that orangeflutie, I broke three metatarsals last September quite badly but I only had 8 weeks off running total. It never hurts when I run but I get a reasonable amount of aches from it when I change shoes or increase/decrease mileage. Dh foot rubs help a lot and it's quite crackly when he does!

I did 5 1/2 miles this morning with my doggies. Found the first 2 miles a struggle but then got into a nice rhythm only to be desperate for the loo about a mile and half later and was horribly uncomfortable for the rest of it :( the joys of morning runs getting the digestive system going Blush

Total 299.5miles

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 07/05/2014 13:26

Thanks Orange, I haven't registered for it yet but if I do I'll contact them and see if I can get a vest etc (Kidney Research UK).

Am at work at the moment but if the predicted rain holds off I'm hoping to get a run in after work while I have childcare.

AmberNectarine · 07/05/2014 15:21

Just signed up for a half in 12 weeks time. Yikes!

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 07/05/2014 19:43

Just done 3.2 miles taking our total to 302.7.

Good for you, Amber!

Mitchy1nge · 07/05/2014 20:18

I have 2.9 to contribute which makes, I think, 305.6

adding up quickly aren't they!

that's great amber, which half is it?

fingersonbuzzers · 07/05/2014 20:21

Well done to all of those bumping up the mileage on this thread!

I ran 4 miles on Friday, and nothing since. I suffer from the same as you originalpiratematerial and convince myself I can't run at all if I take some time off...however, I do find the guilty/worry makes me work harder. That's going to have to be my secret weapon for my 10k tomorrow night for which I'm totally unprepared!

Thought of you today blatherskite overt at Silverstone - hope it went well!

Mitchy1nge · 07/05/2014 20:24

oh good luck everyone racing Flowers

someone tagged me in this on FB, cheeky but true

Fancy a half in September in Ely OhOneOhTwoOhThree or is that too far? I need to check if it's the same weekend as the round Norfolk relay first. I'm hoping to do a leg this year.

I've got a 10 mile race in Sunday, 5 miles 27th June and 10k 17th July so now looking around for something else. Apart from a half in November of course.

Mitchy1nge · 07/05/2014 20:41

is that the one where there is also a marathon and an ultra cinnamon? have been thinking about that too

PolkaSpottyDotty · 07/05/2014 20:41

Mitchy my friend put that very same picture up (a t-shirt) today

cinnamongreyhound · 07/05/2014 20:44

As far as I know it's a half and a fun run and that's all, grunty fen half :)

Sirzy · 07/05/2014 20:45

my friend put that on twitter today too

Mitchy1nge · 07/05/2014 20:48

oh I think this was a monster thing that I was looking at

PolkaSpottyDotty · 07/05/2014 20:53

cinnamon you're near my home town :)

sirzy I'll give you the suspicious eyes too!

cinnamongreyhound · 07/05/2014 20:58

Intrigued now PolkaSpottyDotty, I am right on the Norfolk/Suffolk boarder.

PolkaSpottyDotty · 07/05/2014 21:02

I grew up in Cambs, but my parents are now in Suffolk.

Dennis of Grunty Fen - he always pitched up at the fun runs!

Mitchy1nge · 07/05/2014 21:02

I think the cinnamon is near my old stomping grounds of certain USAFE bases, someone in the MN garmin group is anyway (such a stalker, sorry)

PolkaSpottyDotty · 07/05/2014 21:09

Those bases are on my homing radar :)

Mitchy1nge · 07/05/2014 21:10

are you a military brat family member too polka?

cinnamongreyhound · 07/05/2014 21:10

Yep that's me Mitchy1nge!

Runkittyrun · 07/05/2014 21:16

Cinnamon the RNR is the week after Grunty Fen. I'm wondering about doing a leg of that too but it might be a bit much! Some of the RNR course has been rejigged this year so some segments are longer.

Monster is the weekend before Grunty fen and I believe that does have a HM and ultra.

I also saw that t-shirt too.
