As the last thread was filling up, here's a nice new one for parkrunners old and new Smile

All parkrunners are welcome here!

There's a couple starting close by soon. Daventry I'll definitely go to, especially as a friend of mine is going to be the ED :) Banbury should be soon too and while Loughborough isn't 'close', it is where I went to university so I will be there.

There is a facebook group called "New parkrun" which tries to list them all and a thread on FetchEveryone too. As I said, I am by no means the worst tourism obsessive I know Wink

Blatherskite · 22/07/2014 09:04

Having had a quick look at that link, I think the date might be wrong though. As far as I know, the plan is late-ish September, not the 6th.

standingonlego · 22/07/2014 19:22

Maybe this is the rounding up volunteers events rather than the inaugural run?

Blatherskite · 22/07/2014 21:52

I asked. The 6th was the original date but it's now been moved back - I think because it's taken them longer than expected to find a team. The new ED is one of the MK RDs that talked me into becoming one :)

cinnamongreyhound · 24/07/2014 08:03

I lost you all!! What's everyone's parkrun plans this week?

Blatherskite · 24/07/2014 09:17

Dartford inaugural for me. Then home to start the panicking process for my first RD run the week after.

ThursdayLast · 24/07/2014 11:13

Home running parkrun for me.
DP is going fishing for a stag do so I need to be speedy enough to get home in good time and pick up the macdonalds breakfast on the way home

MelanieCheeks · 24/07/2014 11:36

My home run this week (number 49!)

Plans are for my 50th at home (the run director would kill me if I ran it somewhere else!) But on 9th August I'll be in St Andrews.

cinnamongreyhound · 24/07/2014 20:25

I'm home this week but not sure how quick I'll be as I gave blood today and it always slows me down for a week or so!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/07/2014 00:12

Home for me too - still injured, so not running in between park run just now (and have been so full on at work that there hasn't been time either).

I am hoping to see a physic recommended by Blathers next week on one of my days off.

Ohone - I'm coming to you this week as I have persuaded DH to take DS to gymnastics. All those getting close to 50 (and beyond) - this will be my 2nd :)
I'm looking forward to cake afterwards.

Blatherskite · 25/07/2014 11:19

Everyone was on 2 parkruns at some point feetheart.

Blatherskite · 25/07/2014 11:32

Then the addiction kicks in Wink

feetheart · 25/07/2014 17:00

Sadly my addiction will be tempered by DS and his gymnastics (and DH and DD and their ukeleles Hmm) for the moment. Now, if the boy could pull his finger out and become good enough for the squad we wouldn't have to go until later and could fit in a weekly trip to St Albans :)

cinnamongreyhound · 25/07/2014 17:55

Good luck with your physio OhOneOhTwoOhThree I see great running things in your future I read psychic Wink

It's taken me since march 2013 to get mine feetheart, despite only missing 4 Saturdays in all that time Blush too much volunteering has slowed me down!

Blatherskite · 25/07/2014 18:17

I started in 2010 and only got my 50 shirt at the end of last year. 7 lots of tonsillitis meant I missed a lot of runs!

Am now officially closer to my 100 shirt than my 50 though Grin

feetheart · 25/07/2014 20:55

OhOne - now coming with 8 yr old DS as gymnastics is cancelled. Have just registered him and printed off his bar codes. He is very excited :) He will be easy to spot - BRIGHT orange t-shirt and bouncing about like tigger. He will also beat me Hmm. I'll be the tall one with glasses in the turquoise Winston's Wish vest with my name on trying to catch the orange one!

Blatherskite · 25/07/2014 21:10

Erm feetheart at 8, your DS needs to be supervised for the whole of the run while at parkrun and by 'supervised', they mean 'within arms reach'. It's a requirement for the licence that we have to have to have to run the parkrun events. So he can't beat you, you need to run together. He can't run alone until he's 11.

but have fun :) A friend of mine got her 9 year old to pace her to a new parkrun PB a few weeks ago Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 25/07/2014 21:35

He can beat you but by a few seconds Wink

standingonlego · 25/07/2014 21:52

DH and I are having a rare parkrun together tomorrow as it is DS2 birthday today we have grandparents here :)

OhOne sorry I cannot join you for the big 50 :( hope to visit you soon though!!!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/07/2014 22:06

feet looking forward to seeing you and DS tomorrow.

We gather at the bandstand at 09:00 for the briefing then amble off to the start for about 09:10.

lego my 50th was last week - let me know when yours is and I will try to come over Smile

ThursdayLast · 26/07/2014 11:29

Man alive that was hot hot hot.

Knackerelli · 26/07/2014 14:28

So proud of DD. She is 6 and wanted to join me at parkrun. She has been so excited all week and this morning did brilliantly. She ran most of it ( never more than arms length away ;-) ) and came in at 35mins.
