Hope you made it Melanie. I'm coming up to 50 (48 today - the bar code worked!) and am hoping to do my 50 at home with DH and DCs (who don't usually run). But finding a weekend when we are all here at the same time is proving tricky so I might need to have my moment of glory on my own Smile

Welcome back to parkrunning mario. Hope you enjoyed your cake lego. wound I too have a pile of old tee shirts, looking forward to getting my red one Smile

Well done mario as well you should be!

It WAS a quiet one today - only 52 runners.
Thanks ohone, did you run today?

mariomadmum · 28/06/2014 13:43

there were 257 runners at mine today!

LollipopViolet · 28/06/2014 14:25

Well, I woke up with a blocked nose and feeling like rubbish, but pushed through, got myself ready and went to parkrun. Glad I did, because it was really good - 119 runners, bit of drizzle before we started but then it stopped.

I was dead last again, BUT...

I GOT ANOTHER PB! 45.42!

I was struggling near the end, with my throat being a bit phlegm-y (sorry, tmi!) and was taking my time. Two gents were heading the other way to go home, then they asked if I was the last one and ran with me for the last bit - they were SO nice, kept encouraging me and I actually did my longest ever burst of running because they kept saying "you can't walk now, doesn't matter how slow you run, just don't let them see you walking this close to the finish!" etc.

Then as I was about to go over the line one of them shouted "and the crowd goes wild!" and everyone started cheering, including the lady I met on my first run and her DD. Then we all went to the cafe for a brew and breakfast :)

originalpiratematerial · 28/06/2014 14:46

I didn't parkrun today as I was doing Race for Life but I got a 5k PB on Garmin and beat my parkrun PB. So will have to try really hard for a parkrun PB next week! Very well done mariomadmum and LollipopViolet!

MelanieCheeks · 28/06/2014 15:20

Well done Mario, and that's a great finish Lollipop!

My training runs during the week had been at more than 7mins per km pace, so I was expecting a time of around 35 today - so I'm delighted with a 30:12! Can't stop grinning.

standingonlego · 28/06/2014 16:03

Hooray!!! Loved to hear about lollipops finish, and the PBs melanie and triumphant return of mariomadmum. I really enjoyed my run this morning, starting to get a bit easier again.

lollipop that sounds so lovely.
And well done melanie!
And lego, great cause too.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/06/2014 17:25

Thursday I did run today, and the fuzzy bar code worked. I was slower than usual, I don't think I have bounced back properly from last weekend's exertions - even my regular daily bike rides to/from the station have felt harder than usual this week.

DS1 came with me and PB'd (but has still not beaten DH's PB).

Loving Lollipop's finishing story. Well done on your RFL pirate and brilliant time Melanie

Loving everyone's parkrun stories from today. A couple of PBs as well! - Well done :)

Today, we drove for 90 minutes to get to Great Notley parkrun in Essex for their inaugural run. I was a bit worried that it was going to rain but the parkrun weather fairies were out in force and actually it was a bit hot! It was a lovely, 2 lap course with a bit of a hill in the middle and pretty much every type of surface going - paths, grass, gravel and even sand. It wasn't a fast run as we're both still sore from Thursday but it was certainly enjoyable.

Lego my 10k want brilliantly. I took another 1 and a bit minutes off last weeks PB and finished in 53:41 Grin

July looks like it might be a bit of a mega tourism month! I don't think I'm going to be at MK for any of it.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/06/2014 20:59

Hi mariomadmum and well done!

Well done LollipopViolet and originalpiratematerial!!

I didn't run today standingonlego I was RD, my friend ran at Chippenham though so she's ahead of me now. I had the smoothest parkrun ever today! Everything went well, no rain, 51 runners, few newbies and no adjustments to results or malfunctions, yay!!

karatekimmi · 29/06/2014 14:05

Wow some great parkruns - well done lollipop keep going and you'll be amazed at how quick you improve!

Well done on your PB melanie

Well after thinking I would never get under 30 mins at my home run, I managed it this week!!

We had a charity event to support the Georgia Williams Trust so we had 455 attendees - we normally have 250 ish and my DH ran with mini kimmi and I got 29m 15s!! I am well chuffed with that!

LollipopViolet · 29/06/2014 14:06

Thanks everyone - I actually felt quite emotional after that finish! I think it's because I struggled with being ill, and then being supported at the end, I'm not used to that, not in sport anyway! It was lovely :)

cinnamongreyhound · 29/06/2014 16:08

We had a new lady yesterday who finished in 46m34 and she was so pleased with herself, it's what parkrun is all about!

LollipopViolet · 29/06/2014 16:22

cinnamon that's nearly the same time as my first parkrun - I hope that lady returns to your parkrun and smashes it for a new PB :)

I have new running shoes... I think the bug has bitten.

MelanieCheeks · 29/06/2014 17:20

That wasn't a PB, for all those congratulating me - it was my first run in 7 weeks so I wasnt expecting a good time at all. In fact, with my ankle injury, I fear I've already run my fastest 5km. But there's more to running than going fast!

standingonlego · 29/06/2014 18:54

Am dreaming about new shoes lollipop sure that they will zoom you around next week :)

karatekimmi · 29/06/2014 21:37

well done on a fab run anyway melanie

cinnamongreyhound · 29/06/2014 21:40

Don't know how I missed you were back melaniecheeks, that's great news :)

Blatherskite · 02/07/2014 21:10

Help! I have a date for my first ever stint as proper RD! 2nd August. I'm scared!

LollipopViolet · 02/07/2014 21:37

Ooooh, you're brave Blathers I wonder every week how the RD manages to make a run happen. Well done for agreeing to take on the role :)

I've decided that when I get to a milestone, I'm going to treat myself to either a Garmin or a Fitbit.

I just wish I could get a 10 t-shirt, but I think I'm too big old :(

Blatherskite · 02/07/2014 21:57

Thanks Lollipop. That doesn't help! Wink

You need to be under 10 for a 10 shirt I'm afraid. Keep going though and you'll soon have a lovely, red 50 one :)
