My usual parkrun tourism buddy is The Wife :) We have a fair few similarly enthusiastic friends though and 2 or 3 spare RDs are always handy right Wink

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/06/2014 19:37

You could pick me up on the way Blathers Grin. I will actually be passing by cinnamon on Saturday, as DS1 has an open day at UEA. Not sure he and DH would appreciate me stopping off for parkrun and jumping back in the car Grin

lego I ran most of my HM on Sunday with a lovely lady from your town - I have googled stalked her name and it turns out she is one of your parkrunners Smile

I'll wave as you pass OhOneOhTwoOhThree, I love UEA! My brother did his degree there and I did a post graduate course there. Very good academically but also very student centred if that makes sense, as all universities only have students Confused

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/06/2014 21:39

I have to share this with you!

I missed my parkrun's birthday a couple of weeks ago. But I was just looking at the news page and I got a shout out for being one of the most regular runners Blush

Sorry to hear you missed your moment of fame OhOne but glad you found a lovely parkrun person on your HM - we are all very friendly :) well done on the HM in the heat!

I still need to sort out some tourism - life seems to have gone a bit mad

originalpiratematerial · 25/06/2014 23:19

That's great, ohone

cinnamongreyhound · 26/06/2014 07:24

That's lovely OhOneOhTwoOhThree, but gutting to miss it! I can see it now, here's to our most regular runner, where are you? Oh not here today Wink

Showmethesunshine · 26/06/2014 11:50

How many times and how long for do you run between parkruns? Just wondering what I should aiming for. Thanks

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/06/2014 12:14

Fortunately I was not THE most regular runner, that would have beenBlush . And I was at a parkrun, just not my home oneGrin .

Re running in between-I usually have a longer run on Sundays and at least one shortish run during the week. I cycle a couple of miles each day to and from the station, so don't always feel like a run as well Smile

I've managed to get back running this week, hoping to parkrun this Saturday.

A "normal" week's running might be:

Sunday - long recovery run, 10 km slow
Monday - hill training
Tuesday - rest (strength work or dancing)
Wednesday - speed interval training, at least 5k
Thursday or friday - another run of about 5, and a core session
Saturday - parkrun.

But pretty often I wouldn't do every single one of those planned sessions.

cinnamongreyhound · 26/06/2014 17:00

I usually do: alternating doggy run mon Eve 4-5miles with Tuesday morn 6 miles, Thursday morn 4 miles, Saturday parkrun and a longer run Sunday 6-12 miles depending on what I'm training for.

Blatherskite · 26/06/2014 17:07

This is a bad month to ask me as I'm doing Juneathon and 'normal' running seems a long time ago but generally - Saturday - parkrun, Sunday - Long run (10k minimum, probably more like 9 miles), Monday - Club social run (4 miles), Tuesday - rest, Wednesday - Morning club run or run with friends in their lunch hour (4 miles) Thursday - rest, Friday - Run with friends (4 miles).

It should be every other day but my weekends get full. I don't always do the Sunday run.

Racing 10k tonight. Hoping I can get under 55 minutes and get a PB for the 3rd week running! It's cooler than Whipsnade at least and I've had a sports massage to ease my sore hip. Wish my ear was totally better but it's nowhere near as sore as it was at least.

I've got another next week if it all goes wrong :)

originalpiratematerial · 27/06/2014 07:49

In a good week, I would run four days and do two sessions of core/weights/strength in the gym.

LollipopViolet · 27/06/2014 18:41

I have a sore throat, but am hoping the full-on cold stays away until after Monday (I have a job interview that morning) so I can go and run tomorrow.

I was THINKING about not going, but I always feel better after exercise, so I'm manning up and getting on with it. Hoping we get a little rain to cool it down - the last two have been really warm at ours!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 27/06/2014 23:22

Hope you are up to it tomorrow Lollipop

My barcode is not where I left if (in the bedroom, after our weekend away 2 weeks ago). DH is denying all knowledge of any "tidying" Hmm

I have printed new ones but there is barely any ink in the printer so I hope the volunteers will take pity on me. I have also ordered some more plastic ones (my last one was a plastic one, but I got it before before parkrun linked up with the people who make them, and I only ordered one instead of three). What's the betting my old one turns up at 10 am tomorrow?

MelanieCheeks · 27/06/2014 23:40

Hoping to go tomorrow- first time in 6 weeks, and my time will be veeeeeeery slow.

Here, give me your thoughts. I'm on 45 runs, so that 50 tshirt is in my sights.

A running friend is a few runs behind me- is there merit in us coordinating our runs so that we do the 50 together, or should we enjoy the moment of glory alone?

There's a few weeks when I won't be at my home run because of holidays- I think I'd like to plan it so I can do the 50 at my home run, rather than as a tourist.

Many park runners like to have a pb on their 50th. As I'm only just getting going again, it's unlikely I'd pb in 5 weeks, but I'm thinking that's not really important- maybe it'd be good to take any time pressure off of me.

I'm just thinking aloud here.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/06/2014 01:08

My friend and I are both on 41, be nice to do it together I think but we'll have to see we're both RD's so miss different ones. She was one ahead but too poorly to run last week, I'm rd tomorrow and she's running at Cheltenham I think while away for the weekend but she's rd 12th July so I'll catch up again. I have visions if us doing our 50th together and crossing the line together but haven't mentioned it. She's doing her pgce in sept so not sure how much we'll run together then, parkrun may be the only time :(

cinnamongreyhound · 28/06/2014 01:10

And as long as someone has a barcode we put them in the results even it doesn't scan at ours IhOneOhTwoOhThree, hope they are kind! I only have one too for the same reasons, I'd like one with parkrun on the back though!

MelanieCheeks · 28/06/2014 07:33

I have barcodes on my desk, in the car, and also our parkrun keeps a box with alphabetical dividers , and I have another one stored there. Keep meaning to get the plastic doo-dahs.

mariomadmum · 28/06/2014 07:52

I'm doing my parkrun this morning, I did it 6 times 2 years ago, an basically haven't done any running since lol. about 6 weeks ago I started c25k and yesterday I ran for 20 mins without stopping sooo im going to do park run today and every week to see how much my time improves Smile I have the running bug I absolutely love it

mariomadmum · 28/06/2014 07:55

oh and my PB from 2 years ago is 36.32 I'm in no way expecting to beat that today! but eventually I would like to get my time under 30mins is that do-able?

standingonlego · 28/06/2014 08:10

Good morning parkrunning pals - the sun is shining here and it looks like a lovely day for a 5k. Friend doing her 100th today so there will be Cake at the end - hooray!

Welcome back mariomadmum - enjoy today, expect your parkrun to be a lot busier than 2 years ago - this is a great thing Grin. Sub-30 definately achievable with the help, advice and general cheerleading from the ladies on here and the running thread. They inspire me lots!

melaniecheeks like the idea of your parkruns spare box, how thoughtful.
cinnamon 42 for us both today then! My BF is on 41 at other end of country, think we will sync up too for number 50 - love feeling we are doing something together even if 300 miles apart.
Lollipop hope you have woken up feeling great.

Everyone else - have a fabulous run, hope you find an appropriate barcode (i need to order one of those plastic thingies too OhOne) and the sun shines in your part of the world too. Blathers hope 10k went well.

woundbobbin · 28/06/2014 10:14

We started in sun and ended in rain today around the 3k there were some army men playing the bagpipes (in prep for armed forces day not because of parkrun) so that was nice I am hoping to get under 26mins at some point but today was not that day but I do feel slightly less guilty about the 2 ice creams I ate yesterday. Hope everyone did well am v envious of those near the 50 t-shirt I could do with a new t-shirt but am a bit poor at the moment so still running in t-shirts stating past glories of marathons etc in 2005!

mariomadmum · 28/06/2014 10:38

well I did it! walked 3 times for around 30 seconds each time. you are right It was a lot busier!

ThursdayLast · 28/06/2014 10:47
