I am thinking about running in my wellies.... My times are basically determined by how much sleep I have had and this week there has been too much burning the candle at both ends. Nice to feel no internal pressure for a PB though Grin

melliebobs · 24/05/2014 07:25

Up early to take my hay fever relief so I'm in a fit state for parkrun Grin

And I'm doing my first bit of tourism in July and doing Alice Holt parkrun

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 24/05/2014 08:43

Well done minilegos

Am arfing at the thought of 6 foot 2 when last measured DS1 ever having been mini-anything Grin

Stay dry and hay fever-free parkrunners Smile

Good luck parkrunners, wishing you all pbs Grin! On the subject of lowercase and all one word, my tablet corrects it to two.

Very nice to be time keeping this morning.
Average turn out, stayed dry, no silly buggers and friendly co-timer Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 24/05/2014 10:54

Oh my goodness that was wet!! Everything soaked through!!! It was very hard not sure why, 27:19 :(

Well done everyone else!

originalpiratematerial · 24/05/2014 14:05

That was so much fun this morning. It was raining steadily all the way there and when we set off and after about 10 minutes it was just torrential! I really enjoyed it, kept a steady pace and did it in 31.53 which is a PB (only my second time doing parkrun though).

melliebobs · 24/05/2014 14:20

No run at our ParkRun. And it was quite warm too. 33:03 and it was a struggle. Like running with lead legs

melliebobs · 24/05/2014 14:20

No run?! no RAIN

Standingonlego · 24/05/2014 16:13

I made it! A very soggy run, but glad I went! Well done folks - feel virtuous all day now (grin)

originalpiratematerial · 24/05/2014 21:36

I fancy a bit of parkrun tourism next Saturday. I will be within striking distance (sorta) of the Doncaster, York and Hull park runs. Anybody done any of them? Thoughts on how they might be for a newbie park runner?

woundbobbin · 24/05/2014 21:39

I very nearly broke 28 mins today but it was so rainy my barcode melted and my time is not recorded (mood). Also as I was walking home a car drove past and soaked me from head to toe with what I can only assume was drain water (double mood) Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 24/05/2014 21:43

Rubbish woundbobbin! Have you thought about these?

cinnamongreyhound · 24/05/2014 21:44

And well done on originalpiratematerial on your pb!

woundbobbin · 24/05/2014 22:06

Thanks cinnamon that would be useful on many levels stop barcodes melting stop DH worrying when I run at night stop me worrying about imparting important medical advice in the event of an emergency doesn't appear to break the bank I'm sold! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 24/05/2014 22:09

Mine lives on my laces :)

originalpiratematerial · 24/05/2014 22:20

Thank you cinnamon

I'm thinking about getting the proper tags as well. I didn't take my phone today and afterwards as I was waiting at a very lonely isolated bus stop I was thinking, hmm, if I keel over now, I have no ID on me whatsoever...

KristinaM · 25/05/2014 17:04

Cinnamon -do the volunteers who scan bow down to your feet? Or do you hold your shoes up to their waist level in an elegant yoga pose? Just curious ....

KristinaM · 25/05/2014 17:07

This one perhaps ?

originalpiratematerial I've done Doncaster out of your options. It's a lapped one - 2 and a half from memory - mostly on paths but with 35/40%-ish going around the edge of a football field. There is 1 incline which isn't too steep but you do have to do it 3 times. It can't have bothered me that much as Doncaster was my PB course for quite a while so I would say it was good for a beginner. They're definitely all very friendly there too. I'd do it again.

I was in Doncaster today in fact but on my way back from the inaugural Cleethorpes parkrun yesterday. I really enjoyed that one too. That's lapped too - 2.5 again and is mostly paths but with a 400m quite bumpy grass section that you go through 3 times. I was about a minute off my PB but my back was really tight after the 5 hour drive up there the day before and the odd bed in the B&B. It was dry while we did the set up and then drizzled for the run...then the parkrun weather fairies disappeared and we had a full on thunder storm but thankfully I was bowling with the kids by then :)

Going to do Huntingdon parkrun next week then it's back to MK for my friend's 100th! I think she's hoping for a fast one but I may need to hold back as I'm doing the Zoo Stampede the day after!

originalpiratematerial · 25/05/2014 19:47

Thanks blatherskite - really good to have some info! If I was going a week later I could do the inaugural Humber Bridge run - starts on 7 June. That would be nice! I need to talk my dad into driving me to Donny as I won't have access to a car otherwise whilst up there.

Blatherskite · 25/05/2014 20:38

I've done inaugurals for the past two weeks now, I love them. There is such an excitement about them that you just don't get when you're at the 200th run. I'd love to do Humber Bridge but it's the same date as my friend runs her 100th and she really has to do that one 'at home'. There is a facebook group and a FetchEveryone thread with all the new parkruns on. I need to do another 2 and then I'll make it onto the "most run" list on the parkrun website.

cinnamongreyhound · 25/05/2014 22:07

None of those KristinaM, I wish I could get in those positions! The scanner is by a picnic bench and I out my foot up on it :)
