Who fancies 10km of mud and obstacles? Come and join Team Wolef

Quite a few of us are interested in doing the Wolf Run this September so we were thinking of getting a team together.

It's for all abilities, it should be really good fun. It's not timed and it'll be too wet to wear your Garmin, so don't worry if you're not a fast runner. We'll be a team and no Wolef will be left behind.

It's on the 6th & 7th of September just south of Coventry, so fairly central. If we get a team together we get a slightly discounted entry.

If you're interested, post on here and we'll start making a list.

We also need to pick a charity so if everyone wants to suggest their favourite one and then we can argue about it for ages with no firm decision being made.

So, I'm in and my favourite charity is the Birth Trauma Association.

I've just seen this No Wolefs but there may be polar bears.
Does anyone fancy it?

EauRouge · 13/09/2014 07:09

Ooh, I was eyeing that up the other day. Expensive, but it's running in London without having to do 26 miles.... very tempting! Will check with DH if he has any plans for that weekend.

Definitely pricy but if we can get 5 of us we only pay for 4. And here, here to not having to do 26miles though I am in the balllot Shock

EauRouge · 13/09/2014 07:30

I'm in the ballot too. I'm really hoping I don't get a place now Grin I know that if I get it, I won't be able to say no. I'd love to run around London but I'm starting to think a marathon would be madness.

OP posts:
feetheart · 13/09/2014 07:33

It would indeed be madness but it does have to be done :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/09/2014 08:36

That weekend may just coincide with my birthday feet Grin. It's not a special one, so I have no plans yet Grin

Crockery · 13/09/2014 12:18

Bit pricey for me. Hoping to get a chance to do the 26 miles though Confused

Blatherskite · 13/09/2014 16:17

Tempted. It is expensive but it's London. Getting to Embankment from mine for a 9:45 start could mean some very early trains though...

standingonlego · 13/09/2014 20:32

Tempted :) Not waiting on any 26 miles news unlike some of you other crazy foll Grin.

9.45 start - no sweat - I can drive and collect blathers on the way :) London is not too scary to drive on a weekend.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/09/2014 21:58

Ooh good thinking lego I could try to get a parking spot at work Grin

Fishandjam · 15/09/2014 08:10

I'm tempted by that winter run. Particularly intrigued by the polar bear hugs.

EauRouge · 15/09/2014 08:23

If it's someone dressed in one of those big animal suits then I will rugby tackle them if they try to hug me.

standingonlego · 15/09/2014 09:15

I love a bear hug :)

standingonlego · 15/09/2014 09:17

When do you hear about London crockery and feetheart

EauRouge · 15/09/2014 09:23

I think the ballot results are next month.

Blatherskite · 15/09/2014 09:37

Lifts sound good. I'm not sure I can come up with another good reason not to do it Wink

feetheart · 15/09/2014 16:13

Sometime in October - everyone gets a magazine apparently, either an "Oh shit Well done you got in" one or a "Sorry, not this time" one. I do want to do it but if I do get the former there will be a lot of swearing :)

Will mention Ohone's birthday Winter Run on the runner's thread and see if we get some more interest.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 16/09/2014 19:23

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/09/2014 19:37

I have recruited another polar bear runner (a RL friend who is also a parkrunner - I was the evil friend who introduced her to c25K Grin)

BigfootFiles · 20/09/2014 20:15

Winter Run looks good but clashes with a family birthday. I am warming up to the idea of the June Wolf though...

Fishandjam · 28/09/2014 15:46

I did the 10k Insane Terrain today - not as tough as the Wolf Run, and not as fun, in that to do the 10k distance you had to do two circuits. So you knew what the obstacles would be second time round. Did it a lot quicker than the Wolf Run too. Still, I like the t-shirt and medal!

Crockery · 01/10/2014 17:40

I'm a VLM reject Sad

BigfootFiles · 01/10/2014 18:25

Aw, gutted for you Crockery. I think there are still places available through certain charities who "buy" places - someone I know did it through Shelter last year. Looks like you have to pay £100 and pledge to raise £2k (!!) with them though - British Heart Foundation seem to have the same deal. Shelter link BHF link

Macmillan don't seem (on first glance) to have fees or targets, though I guess they must screen applications somehow. Macmillan

BigfootFiles · 01/10/2014 18:33

VICTA seem to have the lowest sponsorship threshold of £1300. Link

I have also found this website which matches runners with charity places: www.crunch.org.uk/
