Quite a few of us are interested in doing the Wolf Run this September so we were thinking of getting a team together.

It's for all abilities, it should be really good fun. It's not timed and it'll be too wet to wear your Garmin, so don't worry if you're not a fast runner. We'll be a team and no Wolef will be left behind.

It's on the 6th & 7th of September just south of Coventry, so fairly central. If we get a team together we get a slightly discounted entry.

If you're interested, post on here and we'll start making a list.

We also need to pick a charity so if everyone wants to suggest their favourite one and then we can argue about it for ages with no firm decision being made.

So, I'm in and my favourite charity is the Birth Trauma Association.

And tips I've got for the run so far are....

Follow someone across the first lake. There are holes in the lake bed apparently and if you follow someone, you can see where they fall in and avoid it :)

and

Take lots of clean, dry and warm clothes for afterwards.

Oh and, have fun but I think we can manage that :)

standingonlego · 05/09/2014 22:53

Ok, we do rugby drop here at 10 so crockery and I should be on road 10.30 there just after 11.15. Getting a bit jittery now as really stiff from gym and the pictures scare me ShockShock

standingonlego · 05/09/2014 22:54

We have a wolf veteran at parkrun tomorrow blathers and OhOne - we can grill her Smile

BigfootFiles · 06/09/2014 12:56

I might add grippy gloves and sunblock to Blathers' (very useful) kitlist.

BigfootFiles · 06/09/2014 13:10

I have a trivial question - what are people doing about lunch/food? I don't think the hog-roast cranks up til 12, and I don't really want to run on a full stomach but also don't think I can make it from breakfast to somewhere after 1.30 for lunch with a 10k in the middle. Debating taking a pack of sandwiches with me.

GeekLove · 06/09/2014 17:44

my husband did it today - it will be extra muddy as we 12.40 pack will be near the end!

Don't forget your dry footwear too.

I will be wearing a home-made Team Wolef T-shirt though - I really want to meet up beforehand! Are we up for running in a pack - I would like a photo at the final jump bit. I baggsy the cannonball!

Aroooo! Wolefs!

Fishandjam · 06/09/2014 19:44

I definitely need photos as otherwise various friends/colleagues won't cough up their sponsorship money!

I was thinking about taking a PBJ butty and Fruit Shoot to eat beforehand.

Fishandjam · 06/09/2014 19:46

PS I'd love to run in a pack but only if you all promise to not get pissed off with me for being slow/semi-unfit/puny.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/09/2014 20:02

Well done Mr Geek

Fish you won't be as slow/puny/semi-unfit as I am. I too would like to run in a pack.

Tips obtained from the couple Crockery, Blathers and I accosted at parkrun this morning while lego was handing out cake for her 50th Grin

  • Eat a banana before you start and carry jelly beans for an energy boost as you go around - once you get to the halfway point you will start to feel tired
  • it's easier to crawl through mud than try and walk/run through it
  • wear capris/long leggings - or your knees will get shredded
  • the mud slide is huge fun
  • in fact all of it is huge fun
  • bring spare clothes for afterwards
  • if you can do parkrun you can do the WOLF run
  • allow 1.5 - 2 hours to get round

Blathers and I are planning a big snack bag Grin.

Re meeting - the idea of hanging around near the portaloos is a good one. Crockery and I have swapped numbers and she is traveling with lego. Blathers, feet and I are traveling together. I will PM my number to Geek, Fish, Bigfoot and Zeit and we should be set Smile

GeekLove · 06/09/2014 20:38

look forward to seeing all you fabulous wolefs!

Fishandjam · 06/09/2014 20:39

I swiped an almost-out-of-date energy gel or three at parkrun this morning (not that I ran - backup finish timer!) Might tuck one into my knockers for halfway Grin

Fishandjam · 06/09/2014 20:40

Knockers?? Knickers!!

falls about laughing at the idea of my knockers being big enough to tuck anything into

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/09/2014 20:41

Arf Fish

Blatherskite · 06/09/2014 21:44

I'm leaving all of my jewellery - earring, wedding ring etc - at home tomorrow. They'll either get cakes in mud or lost at the bottom of a lake otherwise!

standingonlego · 06/09/2014 22:53

knockers vs. knickers Grin

crockery and I are in denial....currently on my sofa drinking prosecco Wine

feetheart · 07/09/2014 07:51

Mmmmmm, prosecco :)

Right, I'm up and dressed. Just need to pack bag, print off map to Blather's house and eat a huge breakfast.
Still fretting about my glasses as REALLY need to wear them (v short-sighted and now near vision is going too Shock) but I am wearing an old pair with a 'sports' tie-on thing to supposedly hold them on. If I lose them it won't matter but I will need a Guide Wolef to get me round the rest of the course :o

See you all in a few hours.
Aroooooooooooo

EauRouge · 07/09/2014 08:10

Good luck for today, take some photos of you all looking muddy. I'm so gutted not to be coming. Maybe next year, eh.

Thank you Eau, sorry you won't be joining us.

Fishandjam · 07/09/2014 17:56

Ooh, am I first?!

I'm knackered, bruised and still muddy. But I had an absolute blast Grin And it was thanks to all you lovely Wolefs. Much appreciated ladies!

standingonlego · 07/09/2014 18:12

Hi fishandjam What an awesome day! I think my bruises are going to be pretty special tomorrow, and despite a shower I still have numbers drawn on me :) Loved it.

Thank you Team Wolefs for this adventure!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 07/09/2014 18:18

It was brilliant thanks to all the wolefsGrin
When is the next one? Grin Grin Grin

Blatherskite · 07/09/2014 18:28

That was awesome. We should definitely do that again:)

Tiredemma · 07/09/2014 18:30

tell us more??

Im gutted I missed it.

Next one for sure

standingonlego · 07/09/2014 18:48

Absolutely up for another one Grin

As mentioned today by OhOne I have a significant birthday next April so might try to round up some folks for one around then if i can tempt some of you to join

However, there is no reason to wait that long if anyone finds something epic Grin. Lots of opportunities i am sure :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 07/09/2014 18:53

I had a bath and a shower - both needed a good scrub afterwards and I am sure I still have mud in my ear.

I am looking forward to seeing Mr Geek's photos Smile
