Quite a few of us are interested in doing the Wolf Run this September so we were thinking of getting a team together.

It's for all abilities, it should be really good fun. It's not timed and it'll be too wet to wear your Garmin, so don't worry if you're not a fast runner. We'll be a team and no Wolef will be left behind.

It's on the 6th & 7th of September just south of Coventry, so fairly central. If we get a team together we get a slightly discounted entry.

If you're interested, post on here and we'll start making a list.

We also need to pick a charity so if everyone wants to suggest their favourite one and then we can argue about it for ages with no firm decision being made.

So, I'm in and my favourite charity is the Birth Trauma Association.

Oh, do you know what? It is DD's birthday weekend, but I think Team Wolef need me more, purely because I'm 5ft 9in. Grin

EauRouge · 14/01/2014 22:28

I don't think it's open for entries yet.

I don't know if I'll be able to make it over for training, I'm in Cambs so not a million miles away but DCs are home educated so difficult to get away.

8 min mile Geek??? Jeez, I'm doing well if I can crack 10 mins Sad I'll be last to be picked won't I? It's school all over again Sad

wileycoyote · 14/01/2014 22:33

Now I really want to do it!! But it says the entries are closed on the website!!!

wileycoyote · 14/01/2014 22:34

Sorry. Ignore me, there is more than one!

Standingonlego · 14/01/2014 22:35

Reporting for duty...5"2" and -3.5 (with a 1.25 spin :) )

EauRouge · 14/01/2014 22:35

thenightsky is in, to bump up the average height Grin Is your DD having a party?

I can manage a 8.30 mile but not for 10k and not if we're wading through lakes and climbing over walls that are 4ft taller than me.

Wiley...you know you want to...

feetheart · 14/01/2014 22:39

Nope, it'll be me :)
I used to run a steady 11mins 30secs a mile regardless of distance - 5k, half marathon and everything in between. Something happened about a year ago after some horrible virus thing and I got faster Confused Currently can get below 10mins 30 and aiming for something better but I am older than you all time is not on my side :)

wileycoyote · 14/01/2014 22:39

Yes!! I'm in Jersey but if I can stay with someone or there is a hotel nearby count me in!! I can run a sub hour 10k on a good day so hopefully won't be holding everyone up too much!!

Mitchy1nge · 14/01/2014 22:39

I've upgraded myself to 164 cm (from 163 with sunglasses on my head or 160 without) but mentally I'm easily 5'9

wileycoyote · 14/01/2014 22:42

Ha ha, yes, and I forgot to mention, I am 5ft 3!! We will certainly be a very short running team!

feetheart · 14/01/2014 22:51

Aha, what I lack in youthfulness I make up for in height :)

GeekLove · 14/01/2014 22:55

i'm going to have to practice my standing jump and my chin ups then!

wileycoyote · 14/01/2014 22:58

Apparently you can go round the lake if you can't or don't want to swim it. I can swim but not in really cold water without a wetsuit!! [wimp]

GeekLove · 14/01/2014 23:03

it might not be too bad considering its September in terms of the water temperature

wileycoyote · 14/01/2014 23:14

No, the sea is about 17 degrees here in Jersey in September which is just about swimable without a wetsuit - if the 'lake' is fairly shallow hopefully it won't be too bad!!

Or what about a tri-suit - can you run/swim in them [thinking ebay!!]

GeekLove · 14/01/2014 23:19

OK! I went swimming in Scotland without a wetsuit and reckoned it was about 14C. Was in for about 10 mins though and was glad to get out as my manual dexterity was a bit bleh after!
I think rashvest/running shorts should be OK as it is September!

wileycoyote · 14/01/2014 23:31

Ok, I will probably not die of hypothermia then, excellent!! Grin

jellybrain · 14/01/2014 23:59

Add me to the list please. I'm not sure I can contain my excitement until September but, I will tryGrin.
For stAtistical purposes I am 5'8, not short sighted but, quite oldConfused

Tiredemma · 15/01/2014 07:58

My vision os -2.75 if you would like to add it to my vital statistics. I do not now, and have not ever ran 8 min miles. I would imagine on the day I will be a mixture of 'front crawl' and 'stumble'

EauRouge · 15/01/2014 09:14

If you start making swimming motions on dry land, we'll know that you're exhausted and we'll start carrying you Grin

starsandunicorns · 15/01/2014 09:21

Im 5:5 height wise have very good upper arm strength so can help chuck everyone over obsolutes

EauRouge · 15/01/2014 09:24

Armbands! Good idea, I can borrow DD1's. I'm not a great swimmer. Will there be many other competitors wearing child's goggles and armbands, do you think?

Am definitely up for being thrown over a wall. It'll be like dwarf tossing with some of us.
