Quite a few of us are interested in doing the Wolf Run this September so we were thinking of getting a team together.

It's for all abilities, it should be really good fun. It's not timed and it'll be too wet to wear your Garmin, so don't worry if you're not a fast runner. We'll be a team and no Wolef will be left behind.

It's on the 6th & 7th of September just south of Coventry, so fairly central. If we get a team together we get a slightly discounted entry.

If you're interested, post on here and we'll start making a list.

We also need to pick a charity so if everyone wants to suggest their favourite one and then we can argue about it for ages with no firm decision being made.

So, I'm in and my favourite charity is the Birth Trauma Association.

Geeklove im in sutton coldfield so about 40 mins away

thenightsky · 17/01/2014 22:12

wileycoyote currently researching hotels. It depends what day we run.. Sat or Sun. If we get Sat I'm tempted to book Friday AND Sat night so I can clean up, eat a nice meal, get a good night's sleep and set off home early Sunday.

thenightsky · 17/01/2014 22:14

Tiredemma I know Sutton Coldfield!!! There used to be a good Ramada there (think it was Ramada) at the bottom of a long hill. It had a good pool, sauna etc. I stayed there once when I did a 10k at Sutton Park. There was an amazing Indian restaurant in a row of shops a 15 min walk up a hill from the hotel.

Tiredemma · 17/01/2014 22:33

That's the wylde green area of sutton! My best friend got married in that hotel. I live about 3miles north from there.

Standingonlego · 17/01/2014 22:38

I am in Northampton so about 45 minutes away too. Logistics do depend so much on which day and start time!

thenightsky · 17/01/2014 22:46

So if that is about 40 mins from the wolef run, I'm tempted to book it if I can find a good deal.

wileycoyote · 17/01/2014 23:10

Thenightsky I'll probably go for two nights too if it's not too expensive - a place with a pool and sauna sounds ideal. I'm leaving my kids at home with my mum!! Do you want to let me know where you book and what the prices are?

wileycoyote · 17/01/2014 23:44

I've had a look on the map now and Sutton is the wrong way for me. Can anyone recommend a nice town to stay nearby in that area? Stratford upon Avon looks quite close - worth a visit?? Might look up any National Trust places around too and make the most of the whole experience :-)

The you tube clip makes the run look great fun!!

Anyway, veterans of previous - how fit do we need to be? I run and swim as time allows but that's about as much as I have time for - work full time, single parent, DS2 has autism so apart from carrying that baggage (!) and lifting shopping bags I don't have time for additional training!!

BellsaRinging · 18/01/2014 16:33

Hello

BellsaRinging · 18/01/2014 16:33

Oh god

BellsaRinging · 18/01/2014 16:36

Sorry not the greatest intro. I was going to ask if I could join in? I am not as inept in real life, I promise. Just a technological muppet. I have wanted to do wolf run for ages and the wolef team sounds great!

That bit with the screening over the muddy ditch? We won't even have to duck. And we'll be able to run straight under those logs. That slide looks ace!

Are we going to do team T shirts?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/01/2014 17:47

I think it would be rude not to Smile

Tiredemma · 18/01/2014 18:34

I truly cannot wait.

OneHandFlapping · 18/01/2014 18:41

Any space for any more? especially if there is going to be a short, old slow team?

10k pb is 1hr 01 min.

EauRouge · 18/01/2014 18:59

I don't think there's a limit to how many you can have on a team, if you look at the photos there are some teams of about 20 people.

So, team T shirts with names? Or is that too cheesy? And we'll need wolef fleeces for afterwards.

Onehandflapping - an hour 10k is not slow, and anyway, no-one that chap viewed from his head cam was running fast - it all looks fun and good natured!!

GeekLove · 18/01/2014 23:31

i'd like team t-shirts - give me some time and I could sketch some conceptual artwork perhaps?

Also could we consider a meet-up beforehand?

thenightsky · 18/01/2014 23:37

its the swimming across the lake bit and the not being able to get out of the lake due the slippy mud bit that I'm not liking. My sciatica is groaning just thinking about it Sad

thenightsky · 18/01/2014 23:39

and it doesn't really look like there's an option to go round obstacles does it?

thenightsky · 18/01/2014 23:40

Could we form a human chain to pull each Wolef member out?

EauRouge · 19/01/2014 07:23

I'm not a strong swimmer so not sure if I could manage the lake. It says on the website that you can definitely miss the lake but not sure about the other obstacles.
