Who fancies 10km of mud and obstacles? Come and join Team Wolef

Quite a few of us are interested in doing the Wolf Run this September so we were thinking of getting a team together.

It's for all abilities, it should be really good fun. It's not timed and it'll be too wet to wear your Garmin, so don't worry if you're not a fast runner. We'll be a team and no Wolef will be left behind.

It's on the 6th & 7th of September just south of Coventry, so fairly central. If we get a team together we get a slightly discounted entry.

If you're interested, post on here and we'll start making a list.

We also need to pick a charity so if everyone wants to suggest their favourite one and then we can argue about it for ages with no firm decision being made.

So, I'm in and my favourite charity is the Birth Trauma Association.

I reckon so eau Grin
It reminds me of basic training looks brill

Mitchy1nge · 15/01/2014 11:04

I can only swim in the mediterranean

starsandunicorns · 15/01/2014 11:15

Mitchy you can run round the lake

Does anyone know how much is the entry fee cant find it on the website

Mitchy1nge · 15/01/2014 11:15

I feel like I might not be the most useful member of the team, although am probably the oldest, takes me over an hour to run 10k. Have a lot of off road experience though and specialise in mud and fallen trees and dodging fat bastards with shot guns.

Tiredemma · 15/01/2014 11:22

Mitchy- its NOT a race. And my 10k times are also over an hour. You will be fine

EauRouge · 15/01/2014 11:35

I think it's £39 but every 5th Wolef gets free entry so we can spread the cost.

It's not timed AFAIK, and it'll be too wet to wear Garmins so it doesn't matter how quickly we do it. All that matters is that we finish and have a good laugh and go to the pub afterwards.

My 10k PB is just over an hour, but that's on a road with no fallen trees, lakes etc.

feetheart · 15/01/2014 12:15

Excellent, someone who can see :)

Mitchy1nge · 15/01/2014 12:26

I can see! far away, not up close

Tiredemma · 15/01/2014 12:31

its brilliant loooookkkeeeeeeee.

Tiredemma · 15/01/2014 12:32

2min 07 seconds- cant wait to do that!

NaturalBaby · 15/01/2014 12:36

I did it last September and had so much fun I did the November one as well. We're moving abroad in a few weeks but am seriously considering timing a return visit to do this again.

Make sure you train your upper body - there's a lot of climbing so you'll need strong arms to pull yourself up and over stuff (or big strong men in your team to help you over!)

feetheart · 15/01/2014 12:41

Oh lordy, what have I got myself into this time?

Slidey stuff looks fun, swimming stuff looks like proper swimming.

Mitchy1nge - I can do the close-up stuff as long as it is no more than 12in. Between us we might be able to see our way round :)

beckyboo232 · 15/01/2014 12:45

Hi I'm interested
I can see and swim but upper body strength.....not so much I have a weak right arm after repeated dislocation it works but I would need ......well help basically to get over stuff I think! Grin
Am not really fast but can keep up a decent pace.
Would like to suggest maybe any charity that help premature babies, my son was premature.

Mitchy1nge · 15/01/2014 12:52

I'm stronger than I look, can do handstand push ups and haul 25kg sacks of feed around and that sort of thing so can help anyone up to about my own bodyweight :)

GeekLove · 15/01/2014 21:33

I think as long as you have got good stamina the 10K is almost a red herring as it isn't straight through with it being an obstacle course.
I really need to work on the chin ups as I am out of practice.

ALso would anyone object if my DH joined in?
My mum can babysit and the DSs can cheer us on!

GeekLove · 15/01/2014 21:45

So for charities we have:

Birth Trauma
Winston's Wish
UHCW NICU
Bliss (?)

Any more?

Also I was thinking we could run as a pack and help each other over the obstacles. It's good that it is not a timed race as this would be the first sort of event I've done.

jellybrain · 15/01/2014 23:00

Another one here with dubious upper body strength. But, I can haul a 20kiloish muddy collie into the sink so there may be some hope for me.
Doing the plank challenge this month so , that might help

EauRouge · 16/01/2014 03:20

I already told my DH no, he's always trying to hijack my races. also didnt think he would want to hear everyone moaning about their pelvic floors. Grin
