Another one missing but I am still doing this. Running tomorrow (weather permitting). It's my birthday too so I think that shows extra dedication!

knitknack · 06/02/2014 08:00

I haven't run for 3 days now! Have been feeling rubbish - came home on tues and went to bed at 5.30 (!) then had another parents' eve last night.

I'm determined to go out tonight but might try for just 20 mins or something... I wish I knew why I feel so tired

Celia could you supplement your weekend runs with some indoor skipping or something? Just to keep your heart-rate up?

CeliaLytton · 06/02/2014 14:04

I am doing shred DVD and plenty of walking, so not worried about the running for exercise as such, just gutted that I was building up slowly and am finding it impossible to continue. I hate these dark evenings, living in the country has never bothered me before but it is so frustrating!

Happy birthday pumpkin! Grin

Completed W3 R3 this morning - nipped out in between showers. Found it much easier running on roads (having been running in orchards, but it is too wet now). About to download the W4 podcast. Can't believe I've got this far!

MissBetseyTrotwood · 07/02/2014 14:18

Well done all! If we can keep running through this rain we must be well dedicated. I wonder if running in summer heat will be harder?

Started w4 today. Felt a bit faint/sick by the end but pretty 'raaahhh' too! Had stressful few days so am chilling with a cuppa and a book now before I go and get the dcs from school.

Come on you amazons!!

funchum8am · 09/02/2014 10:05

Hi everyone, sorry for radio silence but am still running! Just back from w5r3....yes it was THAT run, the twenty minuter!

My app gave me updates every five mins and I tried to take my mind off the length of run by exploring a new track out of the local park which I haven't been down before. You know what, it was actually ok! I went even more slowly than usual (and I know this is true because despite running for 20 mins in total instead of 16, I covered the same distance as last run) but I feel fab now!

I feel for you having to give up the evening runs Celia, that must be frustrating. I felt hard done by about living in grey suburbia but will stop!

Hotdog keep up the great work and good luck with w5r3 Wink

louloutheshamed · 09/02/2014 10:48

Hello can I join?

I did w1 r1 this morning- using the nhs app. I found it surprisingly ok- the 60 secs of running seemed to fly by so much so that I was wondering if I was doing it right- I was following mn advice to run slower than you walk!!

I am seriously unfit and have ds1 3yo and ds2 5mo so trying to fit it in when dh gets back from work or weekend mornings.

But I dare say I enjoyed it! Hopefully r2 won't be too much for me!

Ladyflip · 09/02/2014 15:25

Loulou you sound like you are pretty fit already (see my first post on this thread for what felt like near death experience!). I'm sure you will do really well, keep going at it!

I have finished w3r3 today. I chickened out in Thursday cos the weather was so foul. Now for week 4. I'm starting to get terrified that I won't be able to keep going as the runs increase in length. But I guess there is only one way to find out!

knitknack · 09/02/2014 19:07

I just did 20 mins today - trying to get over whatever it is we've been fighting off this week, but did go and play badminton with DH too.

I've bought us both a Nike+ thingy from amazon (£13) without the £120 trainers but instead with a £4 strap thing that you put on your shoe's laces. You download an app and it's SO COOL (if you're a geek like me). It tells you at intervals how long you've run for, or for how far etc (you can set it, I set mine for 5 mins) and then how many KMs you've done and what your average speed per km is etc. And it has a gps tracker thing that shows you your run when you get home. It logs it all and probably makes you a cup of tea when you get in but I haven't had much time to play with it yet. Anyway, for the prices it's brilliant and I'm really please with it... I'll probably just use this now that I've finished the C25K and keep trying to improve my distance etc.

I've also gone completely mad this weekend and eaten sweeties, choc and cake and now feel rubbish (that'll learn me) so still a ways to go....

Anyone discovered any amazing running music?

hotdog74 · 10/02/2014 13:18

we are all doing a great job keeping on going with this. Well done Funch on the 20 mins - it was my turn this morning and I did it!! I was very slow, but kept going the whole time so feeling quite proud of myself, but I have to say I was VERY slow.....

Glad to see so many of you keeping up with the running - certainly an inspiration for me - but I hope that I can get a bit faster as the weeks progress or I have no chance of doing 5K in 30 mins by the time I do my first Park run on March 15th.

Keep going ladies :-)

MissBetseyTrotwood · 10/02/2014 13:53

20 mins! Amazing! Well done!

Did W4R2 today and didn't feel quite so awful at the end! Hurrah.

Ladyflip · 11/02/2014 15:38

Well done hotdog!

I'm feeling really pissed off with myself, w4r1 was a bit of a disaster. I managed the first half but totally failed the second half, running only 5 minutes in two sessions instead of 3 plus 5. So I may be stuck on this week for a while, until I can actually do it. Came home and could have cried I was so disappointed with myself.

louloutheshamed · 11/02/2014 18:16

I did w1r2 today, I was determined to get out before it got dark and / or started snowing!!

Obv it's vv early days for me but I'm on mat leave with dc2 and I think it's been a good way of getting out and getting some head space- worth continuing for that reason alone?!

hotdog74 · 12/02/2014 10:52

Lady - don't be disappointed - look at the positive - you ran for 5 minutes twice! When I started, 5 minutes seemed like ages so just focus on what you did do not what you didn't. It really doesn't matter if you have to repeat week 4 a few times before you have it cracked - the important thing is that you will crack it and then you will be ready to move on to week 5. You might not even have to repeat the whole week - if you manage it all next time then just add one extra run from week 4 so you do it fully 3 times in total and then move on :-)

As for me, I did week 6 run 1 this morning, and as it was a run walk run walk again I tried to run a bit faster which I managed to do (DH has bought my birthday present early - Garmin forerunner - so I can chart my progress) so feeling pretty ok at the moment. I just need to be able to maintain the increase in speed over much longer distances :-)

Keep going with it everyone - I really do think it can work for everyone, you just have to adapt the rate of progress to suit your own beginning level of fitness. WE CAN DO IT!

MissBetseyTrotwood · 13/02/2014 12:07

Aww, ladyflip, the first time I did w4r1 I felt all sick and tingly afterwards. I almost didn't keep walking for the warm down. Then the second time it was hard but better and the third a little less hard even. The difference is tiny but it is there. Have a rest then try again.

Ladyflip · 13/02/2014 15:44

Just to prove the old adage that you should try again..

I DID IT!!

Just got to do it two more times now.

knitknack · 13/02/2014 20:13

Everyone's doing SO well!!

I've worked out a little 'loop' that's 2.5km and roughly 20 mins (using my fab nike+ widget) and have been doing that, it feels achievable in the dark and in this awful weather. But I'm going to have to push myself back up to 1/2 an hour - that's my challenge for half term next week...

MissBetseyTrotwood · 14/02/2014 09:55

What are these gadget things? I'm a bit of a troglodyte.

The Sweaty Betty catalogue got junk mailed to me yesterday and I was Shock at how pricey some of the gear is! I did have a little promise to myself that if I get through the programme I'll treat myself to something nice from there though.

In Week 5 and just done R1 which was fine. BUT Ab.so.lutely bricking it for R3. 20 mins. How in hell will I achieve that? I'm feeling a bit scared about it.

Tips, O wise posters?

knitknack · 14/02/2014 17:40

I was exactly the same - but the fear was worse than the fact, if you know what I mean... You just start and then you.... Keep going!

MissBetseyTrotwood · 14/02/2014 17:55

Thanks knitknack. I've decided that if I make it through this week without too much exhaustion I'm going to try to register for the superhero run in regents park in aid of brain tumour research. My ddad died from one 24 years ago and it seems the treatment hasn't moved on much since then.

funchum8am · 15/02/2014 11:56

Wow well done everyone especially for going back and conquering the last run again!

I am away with the girls but dragged my friend who does triathlons out with me for w6r2 Smile. She was practically walking but hey. It
was lovely out there.

My friend has also talked me into doing a 5k mud race in May. It involves obstacles and wading (ie chance to stop running for a moment!) Smile

knitknack · 15/02/2014 21:30

I love the idea of a mud race!!

funchum8am · 16/02/2014 09:26

Just done w6 r3 in the sunshine and it was glorious out there. Got chased by farm dogs though which was a bit scary (am away for the weekend in the countryside). 25 mins of running very very slowly but I did it. W7 is 3x the same so I had better get used to it!

knitknack · 16/02/2014 22:35

Beautiful day today! Had a bit of a 'moment' in the sun (no dog chasing here thankfully, just the dog we're looking after for friends bouncing along beside me) and did just over 6km in 50 mins- I just went on and on - amazing! Hope my legs are ok tomorrow.... :D

MissBetseyTrotwood · 17/02/2014 07:50

Yay! Sounds lovely! That sunshine yesterday just washed over us. Beautiful.
