For me, just starting? Anyone else?

Had a really full weekend and didn't get out to do my w2r2, but have been and done it this morning. It does feel a lot better than the first one last week and am really trying to commit the time to it. Not noticed any weight dropping off yet, although that could be to do with the burns night supper we had last on Saturday and the amount that we ate and drank!

Does anyone else get palpitations afterwards? Keep thinking that maybe this exercise isn't so good for me if my heart feels like it's about to give out afterwards.

MissBetseyTrotwood · 28/01/2014 20:09

No, no palpitations. I sometimes feel physically tired afterwards but my heart rate comes down during the walking and final warm down walk.

Maybe take the session a little easier? I guess if you are really worried/feel really dodgy after the run speak to your GP before doing any more?

Your Burns night supper sounds lovely!

hotdog74 · 29/01/2014 11:30

Week 4 run 1 complete - Funch is right, this is the week where you actually feel like you are running. managed to keep going for the 5 mins but I was very slow..............

Lady flip - no palpitations here - maybe a check with the GP just to be on the safe side?

my legs hurt now though like they did during the first week. Hadn't been too bad for the last couple of weeks but 5 mins has sent them into a spin! What will they be like after 20 minutes? I only have 12 days before that is supposed to happen!!!!!

Keep it going everyone - we are all doing great :-)

KnappShappeyShipwright · 29/01/2014 15:33

I've just done week 3, run 1. Crikey. I never expected to run for three whole minutes, but I did it. I also never actually expected to get this far, I'm normally such a quitter. Feeling a little pleased with myself but reading the comments above, I think next week will be a real test.

It is great to have online support, thanks everyone.

funchum8am · 29/01/2014 21:03

Well done hotdog, glad you felt the same way, it's a good feeling!

I did w4r2 last night and really enjoyed it. I have a nagging pain at the top of my right leg that only hurts during and just after runs but I don't want to miss too many days as I know I won't start again so hoping it stays minor Hmm. No palpitations though, that does sound worthy of medical advice!

tinypumpkin · 30/01/2014 06:36

I agree about the palpitations too Ladyflip, once getting checked I think.

I ran for 5 mins the other day too hotdog and it was actually okay. Super slow but I kept going. I keep telling myself that keeping going and not speed is important!

Sounds like we are all doing well. Keep it up!

tinypumpkin · 30/01/2014 06:37

Worth getting checked I meant!

knitknack · 30/01/2014 18:55

Definitely worth getting checked - I've had to have this done before and it turned out to be an odd extra beat in a ventricle (or something, I'm very much not a scientist!!). Ironically, when they did me I had to run on a treadmill!!

I felt awesome tonight and carried on to do 33 minutes!! Didn't want to stop but DH was grumping at me about cool downs...

funchum8am · 30/01/2014 19:27

I am really tired tonight so going to bed early and planning to run BEFORE work tomorrow instead...this means going out about 6am...I bet DD sleeps later than that for once so I end up sacrificing a lie in too but it will be worth it for the smug feeling I'll have all day knowing I have done it Smile

DizzyDalek · 30/01/2014 21:11

Hello,I'm on w3 and will be doing my 3rd run tomorrow and it's going alright. What I have a problem with is my running pants falling down,it is a pain having to keep pulling them up. Anyone have pants that manage to stay up?

Ladyflip · 30/01/2014 21:18

Have done W2r3 today. Didn't enjoy it like before and my legs felt very heavy all the way round. Having said that, am feeling proud of myself for getting this far. No palpitations today, but think I will book in for a check up anyway (I haven't because I suspect that the first response will be that I need to lose weight, and I know that which is why I'm doing this in the first place!).
Was pleased to download week 3. And I have lost a little bit of weight Grin

dizzyday07 · 31/01/2014 02:22

DD and I ran W2R3 tonight but as it has been a week since we last got out we are going to repeat it at the weekend then start W3 next week. I only looked tonight at what is involved next and dont believe I will be able to run for 3 mins as I barely survive 1.5!!!

Ladyflip · 31/01/2014 09:30

Oh Dizzy, I'm wondering how on earth I will run for 3 minutes too....that's twice as long as 90 seconds! I hope the music is better!

neepsandtatties · 01/02/2014 09:12

Just did w3r1. It was fine! I only found the last 30 secs of the 3 min runs hard - before that I let my mind wander (working out my weekend schedule, deciding what steps I need to take to complete the bathroom refurb etc) and I find it really helps get through the time, rather than focusing on running. Having just 4 runs, rather than the 8 or so in w1 suits me much better, as I found the early repetitive stages boring.

hotdog74 · 01/02/2014 10:57

I was up and at it this morning for week 4 run 2. I was ever so slightly quicker than the last time, but my legs definitely feel much better so looking forward to going out on Monday.

Just a bit worried though that the Monday after that is the dreaded week 5 run 3 - 20 minutes!!! How will I ever manage that!

We just have to trust in the program and believe that it will somehow magically happen :-)

Keep running ladies.......

hotdog74 · 01/02/2014 10:59

Ladyflip - I think it is a good idea just to get some medical advice - and if the GP is any good they will be really impressed that you are on the plan and losing weight so be proud of yourself when you tell him/her :-)

dizzyday07 · 01/02/2014 11:38

Neeps - did you do the 2 x 90sec runs followed by the 2 x 3mins or do you alternate them (90sec, 3min, 90sec, 3mins)?

neepsandtatties · 01/02/2014 15:33

It was alternate - 90 sec, 3 min, 90 sec 3 min.

funchum8am · 01/02/2014 16:04

Well done everyone, we're still here, heavy legs, palpitations and allSmile

Well I did my 6am run yesterday after a terribly bad night's sleep, but felt great afterwards so it was worth it. I am away at the PILs' house this weekend and have forgotten my trainers but it's ok as I ran yesterday and will go tomorrow...w5r1 here I come!

knitknack · 01/02/2014 18:37

Urgh I felt horrible today! Dragged myself through 30 minutes (and it really was pitiful) and have spent the rest of the day flaked out with NO marking done!

Got some brilliant flashing arm bands from eBay - when they arrived the padded envelope was flashing, I'm surprised the post office didn't think it was suspicious :D

Have also treated myself to a fitbit :D. Will let you all know how I get on...

dizzyday07 · 02/02/2014 21:15

DD and I repeated W2R3 tonight. My "running" was definitely slower than my walking as my legs felt like lead - but it is Day 1 of my period (sorry TMI) which always finds me with little or no energy - but we got through it. Hopefully there will be more spring in my step later on in the week!

Ladyflip · 02/02/2014 22:56

I did it, I ran for 3 minutes! Twice! Couldn't have done that at the beginning, so quite pleased with myself. W3r1 done :-))

hotdog74 · 03/02/2014 15:17

Well done Lady, that's great! And Dizzy - I am exactly the same on day 1 so I think it might be quite common - you'll feel like you are flying later in the week :-)

Week 4 run 3 for me this morning - it was ok - so onwards and upwards to week 5 (eek) on Wednesday...........

Keep running everyone!

CeliaLytton · 05/02/2014 14:01

Great work all!

Sorry I have been MIA, I repeated the 8 minute runs as couldn't bear the 20 mins but am only managing to get out at the weekends, running in the dark means constantly stopping for cars and crossing roads, twisting ankles as I can't see curbs/driveways in the dark, I get home and feel like I have been stop start, having to change pace etc through the whole run. So I am going to keep doing it but sat and sun only, so will prob stick on 8 mins at a time until I can get out in the evenings and actually see where I am going!

Gutted as was doing so well, but the lack of lighting and uneven pavements mean that it is not productive running at night. How long til it's still lightish at 8?

Well done everyone else though, you are all ploughing through the programme Grin

Hi Celia,

I managed to find a gap in the rain this morning (fortunately live eastern side of UK) and went out for week 5 run 1. Went ok, but the first 5 mins into the wind was HARD!

So, I am onwards to Week 5 run 2 - the 8 minute runs Celia was talking about. I'm going to try and do it on Friday instead of Sat as the wind looks to be a little better on Fri and Sat here but we shall see.

After that I am on THAT 20 minute run next Monday so I am glad to see that so far it should be a bit calmer weatherwise. I don't actually mind the rain too much, but the strong wind just turns my legs to jelly!

Hope all of you have managed to get out if you can, and I hope those of you in the South West are doing ok and not suffering too much with the weather.........
