Hi everyone. I thought we could do with a new shiny thread.

All runners are welcome here :)

A massive well done to all runners this week. I managed to get out today and did 3.5 miles in 32 minutes. It made me feel slightly less guilty about missing parkrun on Saturday (although it is the first since August so not too bad).

sorry, welcome hotmama!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 05/11/2013 22:27

Which Parkruns do you all do?

I'm going to go to Cardiff for my first one.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/11/2013 22:30

Blathers I have PM'd you, but it has sent under my old name as I was continuing an earlier conversation Smile

Iwish - I am in "Eastern England" according to PRHQ Smile

OhFourFiftyNineThirtyFive · 05/11/2013 22:45

Just trying my new marathon name Smile

thenightsky · 05/11/2013 22:48

Iwish I do Scunthorpe. We need a mumsnet 'thing' so we can recognise each other. Pink 80s style leg warmers or something Grin

OhFourFiftyNineThirtyFive · 05/11/2013 23:02

Grin nightsky

IsThatTrue · 05/11/2013 23:11

ohone ds2 is 11 months on Friday but a lot of my weight was put on after he was born by basically inhaling biscuits. I thought bfing meant I could eat what I liked, and I was making up for the fact I had gestational diabetes and couldn't eat nice things when pg. but I was 14 stone 1 on 25th of June when I started to overhaul my eating (a few weeks after starting running). I'm about 1lb over my first goal weight (lowest weight since before I was pg with dd) but that's still the very top end of normal so I could do with losing a bit more. The running really helps, although I need to focus on toning now too. Sorry I'm rambling again!

iwish my local parkruns are Banstead Woods and Nonsuch. Which are in surrey. There are quite a few within 5 miles though.

nightsky I actually own bright pink leg warmers, they are currently residing in dd's dressing up box Grin

wem · 06/11/2013 10:31

I run in a bright pink top and my trainers have bright pink flashes so I reckon bright pink legwarmers would fit right in :)

IsThatTrue - your progress with running and everything is inspirational, well done.

I think I'm back on track now, my running group did a 5 mile run last night, which I finished in around 63 minutes. I ran for an hour. An h o u r, I can't quite believe it. The 10k in a week or so isn't seeming quite so scary now.

Congrats on the marathon 04:59:35, I like the new name :)

cinnamongreyhound · 06/11/2013 12:15

Hi hotmama, that's great progress already.

It definitely helps IsThatTrue, I lost 5 1/2st while I was doing c25k and after and I'm sure I wouldn't have managed a sub 30min 5k before I lost it. A guy in my club lost 3st in preparation for the London marathon last year and got lost faster too.

Glad you had a peaceful day Blatherskite, sounded like you needed it!

That's great wem, amazing how quickly things that seemed impossible suddenly become normal Grin

Standingonlego · 06/11/2013 20:18

30 seconds per 1/2 stone you say....ah....i finally see a way to get to that elusive PB......

IsThatTrue · 06/11/2013 21:10

Grin standing

I feel good after my shortish slowish run today (3.7 miles at 10.16/mile, but able to talk the whole way and no walking). I've only got 20 mins or so in the morning before toddlers, and need to pop to the new house, so will be running down there and then adding some on before coming home.

Friday I am meeting a friend for coffee instead of running though :)

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 07/11/2013 22:01

My barcodes are laminated.

I've done another 5+ intervals run tonight and I'm ready for Saturday! Eeek!

OhFourFiftyNineThirtyFive · 07/11/2013 22:28

Waves pompoms for Iwish Grin

wem - I also wear a pink top, despite being the least pink person I know. It was a gift from a friend and the only pink item I own. One of my PR friends said recently she hadn't recognised me because I wasn't in my usual pink Shock.

cinnamon - well done on the weight loss!

Enjoy your coffee and day off running tomorrow IsThat

I haven't run since Sunday, but have been out on my bike a couple of times without any ill-effects. Looking forward to my PR tourism on Saturday Grin. I've checked my route and everything Grin.

cinnamongreyhound · 08/11/2013 07:19

My friend said the same thing a few weeks ago, she was timekeeping at parkrun and didn't see me as I was in the wrong colour! I have a lovely blue top I got from my 10k last year and ds2 doesn't let me wear it if he's around when I get changed Confused

Blatherskite · 08/11/2013 15:58

Well, according to the doctor, my sore throat isn't tonsillitis...yet. She seems to think it might become tonsillitis though as she's given me a prescription to hold onto over the weekend so that I can get antibiotics when it changes. Either that, or it's viral Sad

I'm doing that 50th parkrun if it kills me though so I shall still be there are 9am whatever.

I may then have a couple of weeks off though Wink

wem · 08/11/2013 17:39

Oh no Blathers, I don't blame you wanting to get that 50th run. Take it easy though. I hope it doesn't get any worse.

OhFour - thinking about it, my running gear is the only pink clothing I own too. My long sleeve top was on offer when I started British Military Fitness in the spring when it was still freezing .

cinnamongreyhound · 08/11/2013 18:12

Sorry you're not feeling great Blatherskite, I've got a couple of ulcers on my throat at the moment and it's horrible so don't envy you possible tonsillitis. Hope you enjoy tomorrow even if you're not feeling great :)

Blatherskite · 08/11/2013 18:30

I thought I'd finally ditched the tonsillitis bug. I had it 7 times almost back-to-back about a year ago which I think is why the doctor has trusted me with the prescription. She knows I know when it's bad and she knows I try to avoid antibiotics at all costs as by the time we'd resolved the last lot, I'd had about 10/11 courses of a/bs and was almost as poorly from them as I was from the tonsillitis!

OhFourFiftyNineThirtyFive · 08/11/2013 18:38

Blathers I will carry you round tomorrow if I have to Grin.

I'm volunteering next week, so it has to be tomorrow Grin.

IsThatTrue · 08/11/2013 20:22

Oh blathers I hope you feel better in the morning for your 50 yh (if not take ohfour up on her offer of a piggy back, just for a laugh Grin).

Well tomorrow I shall be thinking of you all park running while I brave the m 25 to take 3 children and a baby to Harry potter world. I would prefer to be out there in the mud with you lot!

OP posts:
OhFourFiftyNineThirtyFive · 08/11/2013 20:39

Thanks to IsThat to go with Mum-of-the-Year award Smile. Harry Potter World eh?

Blatherskite · 08/11/2013 21:22

I'm volunteering at both parkrun and a half marathon next Saturday - it definitely has to be tomorrow.

I've made a huge pile of cakes so I have to go otherwise I'll eat the lot!

IsThatTrue · 08/11/2013 21:33

Thanks ohfour it suddenly feels like a bad idea but it's dd's birthday treat so it's just us (me dd, ds1, ds2) and her best friend. Originally DH was supposed to have ds2 but now he's away I have to take the lot! I may well need Wine when I get back!

OP posts:
Standingonlego · 08/11/2013 22:47
