Hi everyone. I thought we could do with a new shiny thread.

All runners are welcome here :)

A massive well done to all runners this week. I managed to get out today and did 3.5 miles in 32 minutes. It made me feel slightly less guilty about missing parkrun on Saturday (although it is the first since August so not too bad).

Hello Knackerelli. Same here, life is getting in the way of running and I didn't even get to parkrun yesterday. Treat it as an extended rest, and when you get back to it you will be fast again. Fact is, you are getting yourself up and out and exercising even when life is tough, and that has to be a good thing. Hope work improves for you.

At least we are out there, running, at 9am on Saturday mornings. I'm glad I can do that. It's a base to build on.

Thank you ohone and thenightsky, I appreciate the support. I've goven myself a mental shake and told myself to enjoy the times I do get to run! Think I was adding to my stress because I've signed up to do a 10k in may and 5k at the moment is the max I can do. Oh well, one foot at a time. That goes for work aswell as running!

The 'graduation' run from my 5k course is this Saturday and I'm really quite nervous!

I went out and ran the course yesterday and did it in 25:47 which was below my 26 minute target but it really bloody hurt! Then, because I got all excited and put my time on FB, the guys running it have reduced my target time to 25:30! Just 17 seconds to lose in 4 days then! Shock

I'm going to go and I'm going to give it my all but in my head, anything sub 26 is good enough for me. Running with almost 500 other people may spur me on - or they may all get in the way and slow me down. There are a couple of bottleneck points on that course where everyone has to slow down so unless I can speed up for the free-er sections, I'm going to really struggle to go any quicker than yesterday.

Feeling good that I've done it now. I haven't been that fast for a long, long time - since before I tore my calf in fact - so it feels good to be back and improving again. Just got to stay injury free and building on it now.

Once this Saturday is over I really need to start working on my distances again as I've only got 3 weeks until my next half marathon! At least that one can't hurt as much as last time. When I checked my Garmin stats, it had been 6 months between my last 13 mile training run and the half! I'd not run longer than 7 miles in between times. Even if I don't do any extra training this time, at least it will only be 6 weeks since I did the distance this time.

I'm sure you'll be great blatherskite! Well done on our pb and I reckon you'll do those 17s quicker too :)

Thread dropped off I've been so inactive! Is someone going to start a new one as we're close to the end of this?

I will soon be ED of our parkrun, not quite sure how that happened Shock

Oh Wow cinnamon, that's fantastic! I have my RD training the day after the half in 3 weeks and I'm really nervous about that too.

Bad parkrun here today and self indulgent moan coming up Sad.

5yo DD sulked from the start line, and continued to do so all the way round. 7yo DS was furious with her because he wanted a bit of a jog, but no, we had to cajole, bribe and haul her around the course. She wasn't at all tired, just sulking for the sake of it. It's times like this that being a LP is crap.

And I had new trainers on that barely broke into a jog. .

standingonlego The Queen!! Did they read the letter out in the pre-run meeting?

Not a great run for me today, but it has been a manic week and I'm just glad I got up and out.

Apparently my town is the unhappiest place to live in the UK, so these guys have been organising a Bedford Happy day today. Parkrun was awarded the first Happy Certificate this morning, because people said that the park and parkrun made them happy Grin. Here is our ED getting the award Smile

Any bright ideas for a witty title for our next thread?

Report
cinnamongreyhound · 29/03/2014 21:11

I am not witty!

Well done blatherskite!

I ran at 6 this morning and then had to take ds's to parkrun with me, ended up with ds1 doing tokens and me timekeeping as didn't have enough volunteers, he did a great job and they got to play at the park while I processed results with a cuppa. We had 8 pb's out of 38 runners Grin

Well...a poor show here today as well, in that I did not even make it to parkrun to join in the 100 celebrations :( Had to do last minute Mothers days shopping as DH hockey match was 2 hours earlier than thought so suddenly all the plans for the day had to be timeshifted. We had a record 350something runners though.

blathers brilliant news on PB, a shiny light in the gloom, what time did you get????

Unwitty new thread

Melanie - I haven't, but the more I talk to friends who are running the London marathon, the more I wish I was doing it. I loved my marathon last year, but was pretty run out by the end of all the training and the marathon itself (I still haven't quite got my running mojo back properly).
