I won't give in, I'm just tired -and grumpy- very heavy period so just feel -very-crappy. (Sorry if that's TMI)

No side planks BUT when doing the hideous travelling push ups, Anita style, I noticed how much more controlled I felt. So I tried a full push up and I didn't end up face down on the rug - yay!!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not ready to drop and give Jillian 10, but I must be a bit stronger

Thanks for the encouragement

And well done Grimma fab news !

ThingsThatGoHumpInTheNight · 03/08/2013 13:53

Did L1D2 last night with DH, had to skip a day as was in a really crappy hotel for work -no dvd player, no wifi and no space Hmm Got home about 9 and convinced him to do it, cue much muttering about 'stupid girly fitness dvd...pointless...huh' (ex rugby player)....30 seconds he was hanging Grin Did parkrun this morning and planning on round 3 later. DH is keen now as we are going to book a holiday later (if the car doesnt cost us a fortune to fix) and he wants to get beach ready...not sure who he's trying to impress though. Come on shreddies, keep it up!

ThingsThatGoHumpInTheNight · 03/08/2013 13:54

Ooh Grimma if you wanna be a runner try parkrun! Did my first this morning and it is ace, real mix of abilities and really friendlyGrin Loved it!

GrimmaTheNome · 03/08/2013 14:12

Hmm, I think I'll stick to the canal towpath where hardly anyone will see me, and I can get to with a short walk, with my dachshund as running buddy Grin. He sits down with a Hmm look and then periodically dashes to catch up with me.

So I tried a full push up and I didn't end up face down on the rug - yay!!!

Respect!!

lifesgreatquestions · 03/08/2013 14:25

Ok, so I will move up in 7 days regardless! And very glad to hear someone else struggles with the push ups, honestly, I have no upper body strength! My body was sore this morning, such that I didn't think I would be able to do the workout, but I managed and I'm glad I did! I then followed it though with 2.5 hours of housework and felt so puny because it hurt to push the hoover!

Iwilldoit, you are an inspiration, the work out you are describing sounds hideous, especially while on a period, so I am both admiring you and pretending I didn't hear a description of the future workout!

Grimma, that's amazing, I have wondered if this workout would leave me in a position to take up running, in a small way. Were you a runner before?

neverlookback · 03/08/2013 17:10

Oh phew I've found a current shred thread! I started yesterday, I even got up and did it this morn before the kids got up which is a miracle fore as I'm not a morning person! I'm 5ft 3 and weigh 10st8 and quite wobbly from 3 kids!
I can barely walk today I'm going up and downstairs sideways like a crab!!! So I hope that gets easier.
My motivation is I get married next July and I've bought a wedding dress I can't even get on !!!

GrimmaTheNome · 03/08/2013 18:05

Welcome - yes, for the first 3-4 days you'll wish you lived in a bungalow but it does get better after that. Great you managed to do it before the kids were up!

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool · 03/08/2013 18:39

Sounds like loads of success is happening - keeping going when you don't feel like it is a major success.

IWillDoIt thank you for referring me back to Noel's comment - I suspect my backside will look more like two hams in a shopping bag when I'm done but as long as it's defying gravity...

NeverLookBack there is nowhere near enough stretching at the end of the workout which is possibly why you're feeling tight. There are loads of stretching routines on youtube so you should be able to find one you like. If your legs are tight, lie down to do a hamstring stretch, a pretzel stretch (keep your bottom in contact with the floor for both) and do an extra couple of quad stretches and a calf stretch. A triceps stretch is sadly lacking.

iWillDoItInAMinute · 03/08/2013 18:42

Hey Never are you my long lost twin?

The first time I tried to Shred, back in May, oh it hurt. The stairs were a nightmare (3 storey house kitchen on ground floor, shredded on 1st floor) I didn't think I would be able to get a drink of water!

Also I am 5'4 -5'3"- have 3 DC, weighed 10stone 8 ! And was extremely wobbly!!

NoelHeadbands · 03/08/2013 19:00

Gah. Bother. Angry

I just tried to add before and after pics to my profile, but MN doesn't like my iPad. Every time I add a new pic, all the previous ones change to the new one.

Not that the results are mega dramatic or anything, but I wanted to show that there is some change happening. And motivation for me to keep going for a second time.

And I can't understand bloody photobucket Sad

NoelHeadbands · 03/08/2013 20:39

Okay, I think I've managed to upload them now.

If anyone does have a look, I need to apologise for many things; the poor picture quality, the mess, the expanse of white flesh, the outfit, the underarm shadow. The life size cardboard Harry Styles in the background (my DD's bedroom!). You get the idea

Not a dramatic difference, but some progress. And the idea is now, that I re-do the program and put a second lot of pics up at the end of the month. Sort of a get fit by Shame kind of thing Grin

iWillDoItInAMinute · 03/08/2013 20:46

Noel we have to marry now as I've seen you in your bra Grin

You are very brave and they are brill pics.

I can def see a difference!!!!

monster54 · 03/08/2013 20:47

noel awesome difference!!!

How much weight/inches have you lost??? I was going to give shred a miss tonight but you've motivated me!!!!!

monster54 · 03/08/2013 20:48

Your boobs look smaller? I hope mine reduce!

ThingsThatGoHumpInTheNight · 03/08/2013 20:49

Wow neverlookback, wedding is great motivation Grin

grimma honestly, don't underestimate the brilliant motivational power of running in a group and bring cheered on. Even if you don't want to do it yet, definitely consider parkrun when you feel more confident.

Me and DH just completed L1D3. Feeling pretty achey after that, 5k this morning and general household stuff. But good, and a pleased with myself Grin (not too much tho!). Relaxing with prosecco and olives while DH cooks a 'healthy' curry...might have to shred twice tomorrow!

Well done everyone, keep it up!

NoelHeadbands · 03/08/2013 20:52

Hehe I'm all embarrassed now, I know! In my bra and pants on t'internet! For shame Blush

monster I've lost about 4lbs, but I didn't measure (I know, really wish I had done now). I always lose weight off my boobs first, never the gut oh no, the BOOBS Grin

OP posts:
ThingsThatGoHumpInTheNight · 03/08/2013 20:58

Haha noel can't see your pics as am on my phone, can tell you look great tho from the comments! I think you always look like you have lost more when you do muscle building stuff as although you are losing fat you will be putting on muscle which is heavier...that's what I tell myself anyway. It's usually borne out by appearance/clothes size Smile

iWillDoItInAMinute · 03/08/2013 21:00

But I can see more ab definition, thats not just wishful thinking on your part.

You've done really well Envy Grin

NoelHeadbands · 03/08/2013 21:05

Thanks iWill Thanks

Absolutely agree with that Things , clothes are definitely felling and fitter better. I'm not overly bothered by what I weigh really, and actually getting fitter is my main aim and being thin

OP posts:
GrimmaTheNome · 03/08/2013 21:41

Noel - definitely improved abs! No, you don't really look like you need to lose weight.

I'm disappointed though... cant see your head...I wanted to see if you lived up to your name! Grin

NoelHeadbands · 03/08/2013 21:52

Yeah I cropped the beard out Grin

Thanks thanks

GrimmaTheNome · 03/08/2013 21:53

Things... (not sure what to call you for short) - I took a look at the [http://www.parkrun.org.uk/ parkrun]] website - but the ones near me are 9am Saturdays - all through summer/early autumn that's definitely out as I have to take DD to her watersports (and after the hols I'm planning on doing more too). Whew... cast-iron excuse Grin. TBH just me and my little dog on a towpath suit me better - it can be really lovely in the morning, the last time before I did the shred I got so close to a heron just posing there. Smile. But someone else might fancy it!

ThingsThatGoHumpInTheNight · 03/08/2013 22:08

Ha Noel, I have no idea what I weigh...combination of an obsessive personality and bad influence mother/sister makes me think I would be very susceptible to EDs (I dont have one and never have, but just wary) so I NEVER weigh myself. If I feel ok and my clothes fit then all is good... (and if DH is happy, though of course I would never say such an un-feminist thing! ).

Fair enougg Grimma execise and health is such a personal thing, one side certainly does not fit all! Respect to you for taking up turning though, the first month is the hardest, after that you'll be hooked
