Morning shreddies! Can I join? I have started 30ds and in day 3.

This is my second time around. I did it in may and followed it by 3 weeks of 6 week 6 pack before going on hols.

I have circa 15 to 20lbs to lose to be at my optimum weight. I am hoping 15lbs will do it as before DC I was slim but not overly fit and had no muscle.

The shred really builds muscle which is great.

It's the first fitness dvd I have tried and stuck to. I like the 20 min workout time. It's just enough before the DC get bored and play up.

I am quite achy today as I have been doing DIY/ decorating as well as shred.

Smile
RippingYarns · 02/08/2013 09:21

I haven't taken any measurements but the first time I did the 30ds I dropped more than a dress size purely as I'd toned up flab.
Hoping to do the same thing this time, and stick to a maintenance regime too.

L1D2 done

GrimmaTheNome · 02/08/2013 10:56

60.3 kg so ~1lb off since last week.

Did D3 of second time around, L3. Really didn't want to - its the school holiday problem, no alarm clock on so got woken from deep sleep at 8 by the sound of the refuse lorries ...arggh, forgot to put the bins/recycling out last night. I hate it when that happens - esp just before holidays.

Never mind, as usual feel better for having done it.

GrimmaTheNome · 02/08/2013 10:57

MrsF - welcome - and can I ask what 6w6p is like? wondering whether to try something different after the hols.

MrsFlorrick · 02/08/2013 11:05

Grimma. It's quite hard but a good follow on from shred.

It's a 40min workout so more intense. It's designed to be done 5 days a week rather than 7.

It's a jillian workout so you get a similar set up to shred and you get a full on version and a modified version with Jillian herself doing the middle ground.

For me it's the 40mins which is the issue. I can't let the DC occupy themselves for a whole 40 mins. They are 2 and 4. But 20 mins is fine because they play around me while I work out. 40 mins and they are bored whining squabbling and breaking stuff.

I tried doing it in the evening but I find that doing any exercise in the evening makes it hard to sleep.

If I can find a way to get the DC to occupy themselves I will start it again after this round of shred.

GrimmaTheNome · 02/08/2013 11:15

Thanks - yes, I think I'd find 40 mins too much to do habitually. Agree about evening workouts too. One of the things I'm liking about shred is it gets me going in the morning!

Mumsnut · 02/08/2013 11:26

Can I join? I shredded 3 days a week for a time last year and haven't looked better in years. Then I let it all go again ...

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool · 02/08/2013 11:54

Just checking in while I'm waiting for ear infection to clear up.
The library's getting a hammering while I'm resting and drinking plenty of fluids!!

OverAndAbove · 02/08/2013 16:14

Afternoon All. I've finally got to level 3, and did day 1 this morning. A lot of jumping. Oh my goodness the jumping. In the words of Jillian, I think I really did gargle my heart.

RippingYarns · 02/08/2013 16:29

well done Over Grin

i remember the 1st time i did L3D1, i actually cried Blush

i like to think it was emotion of achievement but more likely in shock

lifesgreatquestions · 02/08/2013 18:13

This morning after my 20 minutes I was all fired up and thought I'd do it again when I got home. Instead I came home, had a bath for my sore muscles and took an hour long nap. I'm presuming it's going to hurt tomorrow?

Those of you moving up levels, how do you know when to do that? Yarn, do you mind if I choose to think you cried out of pride?!

Pessimistic why do you prefer level 3? I haven't looked ahead but am happy to have something to look forward to!

Mumsnut, your "3 days a week for a time", was that after you did the shred initially? I have been wondering what sort of upkeep I will need to do once I no longer do this daily.

Illustrated · 02/08/2013 18:20

Ooh new thread. Well dont to those of you that have finished!`Hi everyone I'm on my rest day today as I'm feeling utterly unmotivated and in a crappy mood.
It will be L2D9 for me tomorrow though (while the one that got away is getting married Sad)

Illustrated · 02/08/2013 18:22

oops that was a premature messy post.. meant to say hi to everyone whose starting this month too.

NoelHeadbands · 02/08/2013 18:57

Evening everyone, well done you shredders.

I've been in the car for much of today and in boring meetings for the rest of it, so I'm officially Slacking Off today. Will do my next session first thing tomorrow.

I need to go back and read all the posts, but just to answer lifes- I moved up after 10 days each time, whether I'd mastered the moves or not.

iWillDoItInAMinute · 02/08/2013 20:19

L3D7 done - I'm really not enjoying this, it hurts Grin

Oh Illustrated, that's so sad Flowers. Shred tomorrow and admire your lovely new bum!

NoelHeadbands · 02/08/2013 20:32

Ah Illustrated I missed that earlier...

Don't be sad Sad. Take it out on Jillian and her two best girls tomorrow.

Okay, it's a bit sad. But an arse like two boiled eggs in a hanky goes a long way to cheering a girl up.

Illustrated · 02/08/2013 21:39

an arse like two boiled eggs in a hanky

Grin That really made me laugh! I will be shouting at Jillian even more than usual tomorrow I'm sure!

GrimmaTheNome · 03/08/2013 00:28

Lifes, I just moved up after 10 days on each level too. I don't think I'm ever going to be able to do push-ups! I didn't find all the moves in 2 and 3 harder than in 1 tbh - some are, but for me nothing is as bad as push-ups!

And yes, you'll probably hurt for the first 3-4 days but then it should start getting better.

GrimmaTheNome · 03/08/2013 00:29

Illustrated - you could swap one of the L2 cardio intervals for shadow boxing. With weights even!

Poppy4453 · 03/08/2013 06:59

I'm in :-) I done it before and it's very good. I'm running alongside a more careful diet. (I find if I diet I crave food more)

I'm looking for tone really I want to be strong not skinny fat. I'd like to shift 2" from my waist, which is what I lost last time.

I'm hiking today but will be on shred L1, 4 tomorrow.

iWillDoItInAMinute · 03/08/2013 10:32

L3 D8 - it's no good, I am hopeless at this level.

I'm losing the will to shred Sad

No side plank raises, I just couldn't leave the floor so I did leg raises instead -hoping this will help with the thigh rub-

Helles hope you feel better soon Flowers
And if you need cheering up, just read Noels bum comment Grin

Have a lovely weekend everyone

OverAndAbove · 03/08/2013 10:39

L3D2 just done. I also can't do the plank raises; I did fast crunches instead. I am jiggered.

Good shredding everyone!

NoelHeadbands · 03/08/2013 11:02

Noo iWill!

Hang on there, don't give in!

OP posts:
NoelHeadbands · 03/08/2013 11:04

I can do the raises but the jump lunge things are totally beyond me, I just do something else in that section...(jazz hands, tap dance etc) Grin

OP posts:
GrimmaTheNome · 03/08/2013 11:30

I can do the Anita side planks, and given I'm short they probably should be easier for me.

Hang in IWill - you're so nearly there!

DH is off to pick up DD from camp, so I decided to try a 'run' for the first time since before I started shredding. This consists of walk 5 mins to canal, jog to the second bridge (about a mile, I think), then mostly walk back because legs would be tired. Today I was able to jog back again, and even managed to pick up speed for the last 50 yards or so!

And then I did my second time D4, level 1 - mainly for the strength and abs, TBH I rather phoned in some of the cardio esp the first circuit. But I more or less did the first set of Anita-style push-ups! Shock
