Reboot L1D8 done.

60.9kg which is still a bit up on pre-holiday (but it was a great holiday and I'd decided that I was going to enjoy eating!)

HellesBellesThinksSometimes · 30/08/2013 10:33

Hello - everyone's doing so well and I am so enviius. Apparently, It will be another 6 to 8 weeks before my sprained ankle will be strong enough to exercise on so I should be on the october thread. To be fair, it still hurts if I walk more than quarter of a mile - even gently - so that's probably about right.

GrimmaTheNome · 30/08/2013 10:56

Helles - certainly best to get your ankle right before you attempt to use it much. You could perhaps do some abs, and upper body stuff seated so as to not lose condition there?

KatoPotato · 30/08/2013 11:17

Inspiring stuff here!

I'm a casual shredder, but you've all motivated me to give this a serious bash! Should I be brave and take official measurements/ photos?

lifesgreatquestions · 30/08/2013 16:29

Quick post. I have completed the 30 day shred! Yay!

However Sad, I've taken measurements and they are disappointing, although my posture has improved and I'm now 5'7" again, most measurements show no change. I did lose 1 1/2 inches off my waist (as measured at belly button) and I lost two inches off each thigh. I have not lost any weight. That's really disappointing. I didn't diet but my natural diet is quite healthy. I think I'm going to keep this up for another 30 days, if I don't see an improvement in weight by then then... (I really don't want to starve myself!!!). I can say that I'm proud though - I feel really strong and I've proven to myself that I can exercise daily.

Sorry to post and run without reading but am in a rush! (going to copy this on to other thread so apologies for anyone else on both!)

GrimmaTheNome · 30/08/2013 16:36

Two inches off each thigh is quite a lot you know. Given that with all the squats etc they're almost certainly more muscular you must have lost quite a lot of fat off them!

I don't think I'd lose weight just doing shred - even doing 5:2 its very gradual - because I'm definitely gaining muscle.

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 30/08/2013 17:21

I lost weight but a lot of it was carb/water bloat: low carb sorted that out....

deeplybaffled · 30/08/2013 20:06

Just done day 4, level 1 and am beetroot coloured to prove it. Would be happy to get inches off waist and thighs but really want some off my hips - did that happen for anyone?

deeplybaffled · 30/08/2013 20:28

Oh, and kato -I'd recommend it as the support here has been great, and made it much easier to keep going when everything hurt!

Murtette · 30/08/2013 23:23

I've lost off my boobs! They are looking more pert as well as smaller so that's a bonus. Other than that, I think I've lost of my waist as jeans etc feel more comfortable but I was too scared to take measurements at the beginning so can't say for certain.
L2D1 done tonight. I was going to do L1 too but only finished 5 mins ago and I want to go to sleep! I did manage to do most of L2 tonight.

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 31/08/2013 01:41

Well done fellow shredders!
I will finish l3 d10 tomorrow and am starting 6 week 6 pack by St Jillian of the Heart Gargle,

Anyone up for joining me?

lifesgreatquestions · 31/08/2013 11:33

Thanks Grimma. And Baffled, I'm sure some poeple have lost hip inches but in my frustration of not losing any I googled exercises for hips and butt. Lots of the ones I came across are in the 30DS but I found some extra ones.

This morning I decided that I am happy with what I gained from the 30DS, and while I did not lose weight I definitely lost fat and gained muscle, BUT I do want some weight loss and hip girth loss so today I embarked on the next 30DS! But instead of following the DVD I watched all three levels made a note of all of the exercises, added to my list the extra hip and butt ones, made a music compilation and set off! Is ok if I continue to hang out here even if I'm doing something a bit different? It's motivating to see others getting on with it, struggling a bit and carrying on!

Good luck to everyone today! Hi Kato, I had mixed feelings toward measuring/weighing but am glad I did. I wish I'd taken a photo too, much as I would not have liked seeing it!

RippingYarns · 31/08/2013 11:47

Hi all, I'm just about to embark on L3D2

I haven't weighed or measured at all, but none of my clothes are loose. I had a real downer about it yesterday but thanks to some kind words and encouragement I'm better now -

Trucks, I'm going onto 6week6pack after the shred - I've found it can get youtube on my TV :-D 2TV only found L1 on there, how many are there?

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 31/08/2013 12:35

Hi Ripping, there's 2 levels. It's recommended you do each one five times a week for six weeks by JM in the intro (I've got DVD) so plenty of time to track down level 2.

Yay someone to do it with!

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 31/08/2013 12:36

Whoops 5 x week for 3 weeks level 1.
Same for level 2.
Total 6 weeks.

RippingYarns · 31/08/2013 12:52

Excellent, thanks Trucks.

Still got 8 days left on L3, I'll finish that first as I'm planning to start c25k a week on monday too

I really don't believe I'm saying this, but I'm really excited by getting fit again. DH and I used to walk miles in all weather before DD came along, and for too long now I've used her SN as an excuse not to get off my arse.

I need this extra strength to lift DGS too :-D

deeplybaffled · 31/08/2013 18:29

Done level 1 day 5 and now trying to muster up the energy to get up the stairs to the shower!

NormaReedus · 31/08/2013 20:57

Just done day 1, woo gosh thats hard Shock

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 31/08/2013 23:44

Norma, after doing the whole shred I experimentally did l1 again to see if it was easy.

It was still hard.
I was just better at it Grin after 6 weeks of being bossed by Jillian - so be proud you did it from standing start!

NormaReedus · 01/09/2013 10:33

I'm hoping I get better at it wheezes Just did day 2 this morning, bloody hell Grin

I was thinking of doing each level for 15 days rather than 10 as I really want good results or would I be better just starting over again after 30 days?

RippingYarns · 01/09/2013 11:01

Hi Norma, I did 15 days on L1 and had 2 days off (not concurrent) I didn't feel ready to progress onto L2 after only 10 days. Really glad I did, L2 is horrible :-D

lifesgreatquestions · 01/09/2013 16:50

Hi Norma, it really does get easier! Where you on level 2 Ripping?

I did day two of my compilation, I'm back to experiencing muscle ache again after having got used to the workout on level 3 but am glad for it as a sign that I've moved up a level!

RippingYarns · 01/09/2013 16:55

I did 10 days without a break of level 2, glad to see the back of it but am going to carry on with oblique twists and skaters though, I need a lot of work round my waist :)

NormaReedus · 01/09/2013 17:02

No just day 2 of level one! Dreading level 2!!

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 01/09/2013 17:03

I did about 3 weeks on level 1 with rest days, ten lots of level 2 over a fortnight then 3. 3 is much more fun but you need to have worked on core strength to do it so I was glad I persevered for ages on one getting press ups right. It was good insurance against injury and meant the next levels were happy experiences!

Just done day 3 of 6 week 6 pack. It's harder than shred 3 but really, really motivating and flies by at 35 mins :)
