I'm late to the party but did my very first shred this morning. May I join you?

I have 4 stone to lose. I did 5:2 for the first half of the year and lost a stone. I've regained it since on the school hols. I'm going to listen each bedtime to my weightloss hypnosis app and may restart 5:2 when school hols are over.

I'm unfit which is bad because in my 20s and 30s I was very sporty and had a great body. I'm hoping to change that. I'm going on a hot holiday at Xmastime and don't want to be a fatty in the photos, that's my motivation.

I found the workout to be tough at points but doable, to my surprise.

Murtette · 19/08/2013 21:25

standing your post cheered me up so thanks. I did do it last night & worked really hard. I've just been to Zumba and had considered doing the Shred afterwards but I think it would kill me! Zumba was full of lunges & squats tonight.

Standingonlego · 19/08/2013 22:16

Hey murtette glad it had that effect and well done on last nights shred and Zumba.

Welcome bumpotato great to have you with us.

I nipped round to the neighbours to drop something off and seem to have inadvertantly had 2 large glasses of [wine} so think i will just fall into bed rather than shred Blush hic...

JoAlone · 19/08/2013 23:13

D9L1 missed a few days, but wow! Noticed the start of an ab line at bottom abs tonight, in the clouds of happiness, didn't think anything was changing. Nearly ready to begin L2 Eek. Still no difference in the way my clothes fit, was starting to become disheartened, but worth getting up at 5.30 for. I am going to continue 'feeling fear leaving my body'.

Standingonlego · 19/08/2013 23:49

Well done joalone hang in there for the final dash of L1. Just done L2D2 and can now offically confirm that slight tipsy ness is no barrier to shread...except maybe on the military press where balance is needed.

OH comment of "what no shred?!?" was all the motivation needed :)

Murtette · 20/08/2013 10:03

Jo that sounds promising.
I did L1D7 this morning. I think I may try & have L2 on in the background at some point today just so I can see what it involves. I should be moving up to it on Saturday.
Has anyone else noticed that Natalie cheats in the lunges & arm raises? At one stage, the camera goes from her to Anita and when it goes back to her, she's just doing arms. It cheered me up to spot that as that's the move that I really struggle with.

Bumpotato · 20/08/2013 11:37

L1D2 done! Yay me.

I notice there's a powerhouse yoga workout too, anyone tried that?

lifesgreatquestions · 20/08/2013 17:26

Level 2 completed, and since I only did half a shred yesterday I followed level 2 day 10 with level 3 day 1 (although technically I suppose it doesn't count as day 1!). Feeling virtuous, if very sweaty. Level 3 is easier, more enjoyable than level 2!

GrimmaTheNome · 20/08/2013 19:49

Hello all, I'm back! Haven't read all thread since I went on hols but nice to see there's lots of people hanging in there and more joined.

Brilliant holiday, being that bit fitter esp in arms and abs really was worth the effort. Windsurfing (a step up from beginner level so nothing fancy but sometimes going more or less where I meant to) and sailing in more wind than I'd have been happy to go out in before and only one capsize the whole fortnight Grin. We didn't get back till 3am this morning so I've had today day off - planning to start again tomorrow, I think I'll go back to L1D1 and start afresh.

deeplybaffled · 20/08/2013 23:19

Inspired by you all, I've bought the DVD and hope to start on Saturday - first day of week off work so thought it would cut down my excuse options...
But feeling a bit scared to say the least - am pretty uncoordinated so have told Dh he has to go out so I can embarrass myself in private!

Standingonlego · 21/08/2013 00:05

L2D3 done. Another late night shred, but another day towards being "shredded".

Welcome back grimma and welcome deeply to the gang, deciding to start is the tough part so it gets easier from now! This thread and the lovely folk on it have kept me motivated and hopefully will do the same for you :)

Standingonlego · 21/08/2013 00:06

life well done pn starting level 3, look forward to hearing how it goes!

Standingonlego · 21/08/2013 00:08

not forgetting 8bumpotaro murtett8 and jo* all strorming through level 1 !

Murtette · 21/08/2013 08:15

It sounds as though everyone is doing fantastically well. I'm finding your posts really motivating.
L1D8 done - and done at 5.45 this morning! I was half asleep (and was worried I may actually fall asleep during the mat work!)and did Anita level rather than Natalie level but built up a sweat anyway.

GrimmaTheNome · 21/08/2013 10:07

I really didn't feel like it but - reboot L1D1 done.

Pushups (anita style) a bit better - I was using my arms a lot on holiday so that's good.

I'm not going near the scales till Friday.

DH came into the room just as I was doing the final stretches and started laughing but fortunately for him it wasn't at me - my dachshund was apparently doing his stretches at the same time. Grin

Bumpotato · 21/08/2013 11:40

L1D3 done complete with red wine head!

lifesgreatquestions · 21/08/2013 17:45

Level three is like a gift after level 2 Standing! You will be there in no time!

I'm losing my mojo a bit - but I have been doing this every day since August 1st so I guess that's no surprise. There's a part of me that wants to stop or take a day off but there's another part of me that feels proud about pushing forward, getting my body back. I don't know what I'm going to do after day 30. And I've been putting off measuring/weighing for fear that it's not doing anything except strengthening my body.

Anyone have any comic bugbears about the dvd? Mine is that she says in level one that she always does hip circles because they prevent her from getting injuries... and then she never does them in the other two levels! I've carried on throwing a few in!

GrimmaTheNome · 21/08/2013 17:52

for fear that it's not doing anything except strengthening my body.
Isn't that awesome enough? Grin

Oh, the other good thing on holiday was a fortnight in shorts - usually wet - with no thigh rub rash! Result!Grin

monster54 · 21/08/2013 22:12

Hey ladies,

I was wondering if anyone else has missed a period as a result of starting shred? Can exercise cause this going from nothing to everyday?!!

monster54 · 21/08/2013 22:13

Standingonlego · 21/08/2013 23:30

Standingonlego · 22/08/2013 00:29

GrimmaTheNome · 22/08/2013 11:13

Reboot L1D2 done.

lifesgreatquestions · 22/08/2013 19:05

I'm really tired this evening. I've shredded every day for 22 days straight, today I hit day 2 of level 3. I'm going to get a takeaway and eat it all and then go to bed!

lifesgreatquestions · 22/08/2013 19:06

Oh, an no Monster, I haven't noticed any changes in my cycle. You've missed a whole cycle?
