I mean for everyone including those who have graduated from the C25K. Do we have one?

Im coming up to my one year anniversary of running now. I have started to do Parkruns as they have now started up near me. I have just come back from a 10K too and am currently feeling the post run euphoria. I would like to tell people about it, but DH isn't that interested (just like Im not interested in his hobbies)

So do we have a thread already which I cant find? Or can this be it?

Melliebobs that sounds like agony, how are you feeling now?
I did 10k today (1 hour, 7 minutes ) it was hard from start to finish. My knees ache, I'm tired and I don't know what went wrong today, I seriously wanted to quit after 10 minutes. Hmm

melliebobs · 18/05/2013 18:13

I screamed blue murder in the shower this blister hurts do much. Now it's just stinging. But as soon as my feet were released I got all feeling back. Very odd

Hedgepig · 19/05/2013 18:05

Oww Mellie that found awful Hmm

I did my 10k race today, it was hard I couldn't breath in the middle (not helped by bursting into tears cos I felt do shit). The time was 1hr7 which wasn't so bad but I'm really glum cos it was so hard and my body wasn't playing ball today. Wine I think Grin

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 19/05/2013 19:15

Ow mellie you poor thing. Deffo take them back.

Vic and Hedge - well done both of you on your 10K's. Mine is next Monday and I'm not as ready as I'd like to be.

But I PB'd at park run yesterday and did my first ever sub-30 min 5K, despite feeling as though I was chugging around slowly Grin.

Hedgepig · 19/05/2013 19:31

Well done neithershredded on uoyr PB . Sun 30 min is my park run target and now DS1s football season has finally finished Grin I may actually get to a few park runs over the summer

Pleaseputyourshoeson · 20/05/2013 18:47

@ melliebobs, I know this sounds obvious but are you sure your trainers weren't too small? Reason I ask is that mine are a full size and a half bigger than my normal size as when you run your feet 'flatten' and swell a bit making them a good size bigger. I used to get numb feet when running and the running shop said it was because my shoes weren't roomy enough for running in. HTH. Am so fed up with being injured and freaking out about how long it means I have to ease up with the running for and what that will mean re training to run a HM. I will be really irritated to have run all year only to have to pull out now. For the minute I'm just trying to do other things, swimming etc but it's not the same.

melliebobs · 21/05/2013 10:49

pleaseputyiurshoeson that's what I think now. They are the same size as my last pair and the same brand. They felt fine when I did 3 mins or so on the treadmill and they did feel tight. But I just put that down to being new n having loadsa extra cushioning n generally not worn to death. But having done 2 runs n worn them all day at work n theyve not stretched out too much i think they are just a tad too small.

I wanted to take them back n get checked out at the weekend but I can barely walk without being in pain with this sodding blister let alone run! So it's going to have to wait a bit Grin

EauRouge · 26/05/2013 10:08

How are your feet, mellie?

No Parkrun for me yesterday, DH was away so I took the DDs with me and volunteered again. It was so muddy, the poor bloke in the lead slid right over :( Don't think he was injured luckily. I'm going to have to get some trail shoes soon, the course is only going to get worse later in the year.

My running has been crap recently but this morning was much better. Managed 6.7k without stopping although it was a very slow 6.7k! I'm just glad I didn't end up walking umpteen times like the last few 'runs'.

Itsaboatjack · 26/05/2013 20:22

I saw Mo Farah today!! Just wanted to share with some fellow runners. I was taking my dd to a party and needed to cut through St James park and got caught up in the detours because of the Westminster mile races. He was at the finish line, I assume going to hand out winners medals, he was lovely, doing photos and signing autographs.

Hopefully I'll see him again tomorrow when I do the London 10,000.

EauRouge · 26/05/2013 20:48

Wow! I was going to ask if he was running away from something Grin

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 26/05/2013 22:00

Itsaboat - good luck tomorrow. If you feel like it, the MN Woolly Hugs team will be meeting up before and after the run - we'll be wearing orange World Child Cancer vests and meeting at the family area under the "W" (for Woolly) around 8.45/9.00. Have a good race!

Victoria3012 · 27/05/2013 06:34

I'm doing the London 10000 today, it's my first race and I'm very nervous. Good luck to everyone running today x

Victoria3012 · 27/05/2013 07:43

Oh god I've been to the toilet 5 times, I have upset tummy Hmm

EauRouge · 27/05/2013 07:53

Can you stop and get some immodium before the race? Good luck, for the race and for your upset stomach!

Itsaboatjack · 27/05/2013 09:39

Had a little look for you neither but too many people.

Good luck everyone.

EauRouge · 27/05/2013 10:07

Oh, I missed the post about the Woolly Huggers. Good luck, everyone!

melliebobs · 27/05/2013 13:34

Good luck to all those doing the London 10k I'm sure you'll do great Smile

Did a 7.5k with the dog this morning. Pain. In. The. Arse. And for once it wasn't my dog but others!

Taking the death trainers from hell back in a mo. see what I get. And got a 5k race tommorow evening.

So that me pretty much up to date!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 27/05/2013 19:04

The BUPA was great fun. I finished in 01:02:03, and have renamed myself Grin

Pleaseputyourshoeson · 27/05/2013 19:28

Great job oh one oh two! well done all the 10kers! Great effort. Am envious and frustrated at being injured and it still not mended enough to run with. I've got awful asthma and hayfever though so that would have scuppered my plans in any case i guess. I hope by the end of next week I can get running and start HM training - i hooe 16 weeks is long and slow enough for me to get sorted and build up to it. I will be v disappointed if this hamstring doesn't sort itself soon. I feel like I'm getting fatter even if I'm not, I'm trying to swim but it's not the same.
Melliebobs how did you go with your shoes?

melliebobs · 27/05/2013 19:33

Shoes swapped. They didn't have the ones I wanted to swap in the next size up n after a bit of foot prodding they recon i need a wider fit shoe. Luckily they'd had a delivery since I bought the original pair. So ended up with some Nike LunarGlide in some horrendous impractical colour. But if they do the job fantastic. I did 10 mins on the store treadmill n they felt food and I have a 5k race tommorow so I'll soon find out!

LillethTheCat · 27/05/2013 19:35

Well done on the 10K everyone.

I volunteered at Parkrun this weekend as I tweaked my knee a little bit on Thurs night. I felt fine on Sat morning though, but Id already arranged to volunteer. I was handing out the finishing numbers to the runners and what did I go and do? dropped numbers 18 to 100 all over the floor Blush Number 17 ran through and didnt stop so while I was trying to catch him to take his number before 18 came through they all just slid out of my hands. Luckily people were nice and waited in the right order for me to find the right tokens for them.

I did go out for 7 miles on Sunday afternoon and I really enjoyed it. Just did a steady pace and it took 90 mins or so. I did spend a lot of my time admiring the view though as I live (and run) in the country.

Pleaseputyourshoeson · 27/05/2013 19:37

Marvellous. Here's hoping you glide like you're flying over the moon tomorrow! Good luck with the 5k.

melliebobs · 27/05/2013 20:01

Don't know about gliding but there's nowt to um. Itl b like running in me slippers. And u can always run fast in slippers Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 27/05/2013 20:14

Pleaseput - 16 weeks is plenty. I'm about to start a 20 week full marathon training plan Shock

Hope the new shoes are better mellie Smile

Itsaboatjack · 27/05/2013 21:22

Well done OhOne

I did 53:50, a minute off my pb but one of my best so I'm happy with it.

And I got a wave off Mo, I saw him as he was coming out of the tunnel at around 7k while I was going into the tunnel just before 3k. I stopped at the central reservation and gave him a wave and a cheer and I definitely got a little wave back, it was to me you know and not the other dozens of runners there at that time too Wink.

How did everyone else get on?
