I mean for everyone including those who have graduated from the C25K. Do we have one?

Im coming up to my one year anniversary of running now. I have started to do Parkruns as they have now started up near me. I have just come back from a 10K too and am currently feeling the post run euphoria. I would like to tell people about it, but DH isn't that interested (just like Im not interested in his hobbies)

So do we have a thread already which I cant find? Or can this be it?

Ok, that's me told. I will go to running shop next Wednesday.

melliebobs · 27/04/2013 16:31

Did my 7th ParkRun this week. Shaved 41 seconds off my time and got another PB. did it in 32:31 so chuffed cos I'm full of a cold. Can't wait till next week now. The grand plan is sub 30 but with the 3 big hills it's gonna be tough!

Got a 5k race on Tuesday so be intrigued to see how it compares

Victoria3012 · 27/04/2013 17:22

I did my very first 5k parkrun today and did it in 32.12. I'm really really pleased but slightly concerned because I'm doing the London bupa 10000 in a few weeks and I'm not sure I will be able to run the whole distance and I'd set my heart on running the whole race. I loved doing the parkrun, everyone was friendly and supportive.

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 27/04/2013 18:24

Those of you with results were obviously not at my local park run

Victoria - you'll be fine for the 10K, even if you do need to walk a bit Smile

Pleaseputyourshoeson · 27/04/2013 18:38

Well done all of you. Great times.
And cough, much better than mine - I've had my running gear on all day and haven't actually gone running Grin. And there will be no opportunity tomorrow so it looks like I'm going to be having the weekend off. Blush. In truth whilst mentally I'm frustrated I've not managed to fit it in as I've no child free time this weekend it's probably a blessing as I've done a lot during the week and my body feels quite physically achy/tired. I love reading this thread, it helps with keeping motivated.
Have a great weekend all.

And Victoria I agree, if you can do that 5k comfortably you'll be fine on the 10k, just run at a really nice slow easy pace and you'll run all of it, if you have some oomph at the end you can always pick up the pace then. I made the mistake of going too fast at the start and feeling like the end would never be in sight by the end when I did mine.

melliebobs · 27/04/2013 18:44

neither apparantly they have a new system for recording and sending out results. Took until late evening to get ours last week

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 27/04/2013 19:04

Mine was very late last week mellie, but that was because the Race Director wasn't well.

chaosisawayoflife · 27/04/2013 22:03

Hi all. I've got my first proper race tomorrow (not counting the 4 parkruns I've done). It's a 5 mile race which is further than I've ever run, and I'm doing it with my mum who turns 60 next week and has been running for over 30 years. I went out for a run with her for the first time yesterday, only 3 miles but it nearly killed me and I was sick burping when I finished! I really want to finish in under 55 mins but I'm worried about pacing too fast and not finishing. My mum will run with me no matter what, but I struggle with pacing so will probably go out too fat.

chaosisawayoflife · 27/04/2013 22:07

*fast, not fat, although that would also be appropriate!

Hedgepig · 27/04/2013 22:41

You might go out fat but you'd come back slimmer Chaos, I am very impressed with your Mum running at 60.

Pleaseputyourshoeson · 28/04/2013 06:50

Good luck today chaos. And agree, impressive of your mum to be running with you at 60!

EauRouge · 28/04/2013 07:10

Good luck, chaos, I'm sure you'll be fine if you just pace yourself. Have you got a phone app with a pace alarm? You can get one for free, I think RunDouble has one.

I finally got my ParkRun result and it's a full minute and a half quicker than I was aiming for! Not quite sub 30 mins but I'm getting closer.

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 28/04/2013 07:20

Good luck with your race today chaos

Well done Eau. I PB'd as well, but not as impressively as you!

Hedgepig · 28/04/2013 07:39

Have a good run Chaos . I sounds like we all had a good day yesterday with all these PBs . I'm thinking about new targets since I've done my 1st one which was to do a 10k

MelanieCheeks · 28/04/2013 07:51

Oooooh, runners! Hello everybody peeps and bods!

I'm training for my first half-marathon in June. Got a new PB at my ParkRun yesterday - 30 mins 12 ! Soooo close to that magical 30 minute mark!

I'll be setting out on my Long Run later this morning, hope the rain stays off.

EauRouge · 28/04/2013 08:30

PBs all round then! Well done everyone Grin

How far are you running today, Melanie?

Fyouimfabulous · 28/04/2013 11:00

Been out this morning for a very windy 3 miles! I'd love a sub 30 5k, a sub 60 10k (my pb is 62:33) and this year to complete the GNR in 2:20, last year I was 2:25 and the year before I was 2:47 so I'm hoping its possible!

MelanieCheeks · 28/04/2013 12:07

Twas supposed to be a 6 mile run, but the route I chose was a touch shorter than that. So, not really long enough, or fast enough, but it was a really enjoyable run - I reminded myself how lucky I am to be running in my 50s, on some beautiful country roads in Norn Irn, with a pawsome dog by my side.

Victoria3012 · 28/04/2013 14:51

Thanks for all your encouragement, I have until the last week in May to train for my 10k race. I did a 5k forest run today, I lost my shoe twice in the mud but had a great time, I love the forest. I ran a slow 5k (38 minutes) because I had to watch the ground in front of me. I'll definitely do it again Smile

melliebobs · 29/04/2013 12:06

Ok so I can't run on a treadmill. I don't know why Blush think it may be boredom. Gonna stick to outside for now. But did 37 intervals n did 5k

melliebobs · 29/04/2013 12:07

37 mins

melliebobs · 30/04/2013 21:00

Just back from my first proper race. I had a number and everything. There were a lot of people there taking it verrrrrry seriously. I was a slow one but deffo not last! Got a PB of 31:30 (ish) and there were 2 bloomin hills. Gah

EauRouge · 30/04/2013 21:09

That's brilliant, well done! Was it a 5k?

I've started gradually increasing my distance, I did 5.5k this morning instead of my usual 5k (get me Grin ). I'm doing a 5 miler at the start of July, I'd like to be able to run the whole thing without having to stop and walk- that's my goal, I have no idea about times or anything like that.

FoundAChopinLizt · 30/04/2013 21:10

Got new trainers, and have tried them on wk3r1, great success. Shins not sore this time.

Well done on your first race mellie.Smile

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 30/04/2013 21:15

Well done mellie!
