I mean for everyone including those who have graduated from the C25K. Do we have one?

Im coming up to my one year anniversary of running now. I have started to do Parkruns as they have now started up near me. I have just come back from a 10K too and am currently feeling the post run euphoria. I would like to tell people about it, but DH isn't that interested (just like Im not interested in his hobbies)

So do we have a thread already which I cant find? Or can this be it?

Well done Itsaboat.

I'd love to get below an hour for a 10K. I got a bit bored between 6 and 7K and realised I'd slowed down and was running at the pace of the people in front of me instead of going past them and running at my pace Grin. Gave myself a little talking to and sped up. I managed to put my ipod through the washing machine so was running without music to keep me going.

I saw Mo too - he looked great.

Victoria3012 · 28/05/2013 19:20

I've registered for the London Bupa 10000 2014, the atmosphere was amazing, the landmarks and bands along the route were great and I loved being part of it this year (plus i only live 40 minutes from the race).

Itsaboatjack · 28/05/2013 20:05

I've registered too, it's my favourite race. I've done it every year since it started 6 yrs ago.

melliebobs · 29/05/2013 12:38

Had a 5k race yesterday. Actually a 5.17k race cos they messed up the start Angry

But. Happy dance

5k 29:29
5.17k 30:24

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 29/05/2013 17:02

Yay mellie! Well done.

I've just had my reminder email for volunteering at Parkrun this weekend - good job, as I'd completely forgotten!

melliebobs · 01/06/2013 08:18

Good luck to everyone at park run this morning!

Pleaseputyourshoeson · 02/06/2013 18:08

Well done melliebobs! I've just done my first run in ages, I promised myself I'd not run AT ALL for at least a week. I thought my hamstring felt better enough to give it a go. I ran just under five miles at an easy pace mindful not to stretch my stride at all and so far so good! Hurrah. Here's hoping I can now get back on track. What a lovely day too.
So nice to be in the sunshine.

melliebobs · 02/06/2013 18:49

Sunshine runs are great. But I'm starting to get bad tab lines already. Must alternate the style of best I wear!!!!!

I did ParkRun. Would have got a PB But my runkeeper went mental the gps got muddled and added on an extra 500m! (didnt know till the end) so it Put my average pace to 5m50s a km so thought great I can slow down again. Then I got my result n was 6 secs slower than my PB. Fuming. Never rely on technology! But I struggle to self pace!!!

Did a charity moonlight walk as well last night. 13.1 miles. Took 4hrs n I have some funky blisters. So no running for a few days Blush

I got yet another pb yesterday at Parkrun. 27:06 which I'm pleased with, but I sprinted at the end because I could have sworn my pb was 27:14 when in fact it was 27:29 so I had more time than I thought to get to the finish. I wonder when my speed will plateau and I will stop getting faster. I'm 34 so not young in running terms (come my birthday I will be classed as a veteran). This year I think I'm going to aim for under 25 mins by the end of Sept, that's doable isn't it?

I went out for an 8 miler this afternoon, but I ended up walking quite a bit as I just couldn't get into the run. I'd guess I did 50% running and 50% walking. I was too busy enjoying the view and being in the sun. Definitely think I'll be ready for a 10 mile race in November.

Now I'm dong a 10K in a couple of weeks, will I be silly to do Parkrun the day before? There will be over 24 hours between me finishing Parkrun and starting the 10K.

That London 10K sounds amazing. I love London and would love to run in London one day (not the marathon though) but I'm a bit too far away and it's a bit expensive at the moment to get there. Maybe in. Few years once I have a job and the DCs are a bit older.

I did my first 10k in 52:30 (training) - Bedford Race for Life 10k coming up!

melliebobs · 05/06/2013 16:13

Wow blue that's fantastic! Sure you'll smash that on the day Smile good luck Smile

ifancyashandy · 05/06/2013 16:53

Newbie-ish joining. I run fairly regularly - 5k in about 31 mins along with Pilates, swimming and a dance class. Ran today. My god, it was like wading through treacle AND I got a stitch. It was such hard work. D'you think it's the weather? I also drank a big glass of fizzy water about 20 mins before I went. Probably very stupid...

Victoria3012 · 05/06/2013 19:03

I haven't run for over a week (since i ran the London 10000) for no reason other than laziness so I've registered for the 'run to the beat' half marathon in September. I need a goal, I need something to get my teeth into. Has anyone done the run to the beat half marathon??

BlueChampagne · 07/06/2013 13:14

Thanks mellibobs - rather depends on crowd and course.

Pleaseputyourshoeson · 07/06/2013 17:43

@ Victoria, I'm doing the Royal Park Half in the first week of October. I think there are still places? I'm just getting back into the training having been off for a few weeks with an injury. You could try that? I've heard run to the beat is a good one too. I've just had a sport massage - OMG made such a difference to the tightness but by eck was it painful! My legs are so tight. It was a bit 'bite your fist' at times!
Two cross training sessions, swim and a short run. Long run tomorrow or sunday. Ifancyashandy that treacle running experience is so horrid, I've had so many of those! But it feels so good when you have a run that isn't like that.

ifancyashandy · 07/06/2013 19:22

You lot who are doing 'proper' runs put me to shame!

But worked out why my run on Weds was so... turgid... I was due on (apols if TMI). But went swimming about an hour ago and loved it! Did 40 x 25 meters in 40 mins (can't ever alter that! If I do 30 x 25, it's 30 mins, 50 is 50 mins etc. Never done more than 50. Think I would be unable to walk out of the pool! Spaghetti legs Grin).

Going to run again in the morning. Or do a bikram class - depends on the amount of gin consumed this evening!

melliebobs · 07/06/2013 22:13

My half marathon training plan has come through from Full Potential Blush might start on Monday

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/06/2013 10:43

I remember your name from a C25K thread aaaages ago (I have nc'd since then)

Blue - well done on your 10K time! Do you happen to know the route for the Bedford RFL 10K? I can't find it on the website, but am looking for a 10K route around that general area.

Envy about mellie's tan lines Grin

ifancyashandy · 08/06/2013 11:33

OhOne that's the first time I've been remember on MN! And I've been here about 4 years!

Pleaseputyourshoeson · 08/06/2013 12:04

Gorgeous 9 miles in the sunshine today in 1hr 30mins - my PR for both distance and time - I think the massage helped a heap. Half marathon plans don't seem quite SO scary after today. I ran varying split times - last split was 8mins 50 secs and then a couple were in the 9 minute zones but the rest were 10 min to 10min30secs ish per mile. I find it amazing that in the first three miles I always feel disheartened as the first 20 mins of running always seem the worst and then as you get cracking it doesn't seem so bad and you begin to enjoy it as you know you've got to get back to where you started from Grin. Hope you are all having a great w/end.

LillethTheCat · 08/06/2013 13:17

So agree with that Please I always find it takes me a while to get into my stride, but once I do it feels great.

I got another PB at Parkrun this morning. 26:41. I came 9th out of 41 women and there were only 2 that were younger than me who beat me. That tells me that there is loads of room to improve over the next couple of years.

Victoria3012 · 09/06/2013 10:15

Please I so agree with you, I find the first 5 kilometres mentally and physically horrible and then I find my feet. The second half of my runs are always faster than the first half. I think many runners feel the same, it's called the toxic 10 ( or in my case 20) Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 09/06/2013 11:06

Lilleth - great PB!

Pleaseput - that's a brilliant time!

Vic - I have the same problem Grin

Pleaseputyourshoeson · 10/06/2013 18:05

And there we have it, I went for a 5k run and hated all of it - heavy lead legs, they felt wooden but not sore and it was a struggle right until the last mile.
