All ye fine runners who wish to get together to discuss running-related topics, or otherwise, come and join us here. We are a friendly and incredibly supportive group of runners, varying in ability, but all bonded together by a common theme of loving running, committed to squeezing it into our busy lives and wanting to improve our own PBs. So whether you are a full-time mum, part-time working mum, full-time working mum, working from home mum, mum who is studying, or even a dad Grin, add your race to the list so you can be sure of some moral support and advice along the way. And if you aren't racing, don't worry as you can enjoy the race reports and race vicariously.

monkey it is being taking seriously and it is not bullying as such, it is another girl we have constant problems with, they like playing together but thee are so many issues I often wish they did not. the girl to my mind has no empathy, goes too far all the time, and is extremely possessive.
next step I will talk to the school about what I know of her situation, I realise it seems like a step too far but at I have tried talking to the parents and I have tried to help them to no avail
and thanks for sympathy it is hard to know what to do sometimes

monkeyLFDTwench · 06/12/2011 14:11

Well it does sound as though she needs help Sad and she won't get it if the school are unaware of her full situation - so it has to be done, but a shame as you say your dd has to be involved.

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 06/12/2011 14:20

orange I am sorry to hear the gp appointment wasn't more helpful. any chance you can get a private referral? I think any sort of fertility treatmeent on the NHS is sadly being cut back at the mo

sfx I hope your daughter is ok

fanny bogey tastics. I remember just after DS was born I felt like I had a blocked nose and it was the biggest bit of dried up snot stuck up my nose. don't know if that's a normal effect of childbirt(sorry bringing the tone right down there!)

Went out for a lunchtime run as I am working at home today. blodooy hell itwas cold. Wasn't such a good run, my legs felt really dead and I am super tired. . Thinkin I am a bit PMT ish which can make me tired. I am seriously considering having a tea with sugar in which I never usually do and have sent DP to morrisons for sugary treats.

Is anyone f i n d i n g t y p i n g r e a L L Y s l O w o n M N t O d A y ? ?

sfxmum · 06/12/2011 14:21

I hesitate to say much here but I but the home situation is very damaging, no abuse no physical neglect but also not much else beyond it, I have known them for over 3yrs and have seen it up close, she is a very bright child but needs some help now, next time we might not be so lucky

sfxmum · 06/12/2011 14:23

cherry i had that nose thing after childbirth it was very disconcerting with everything leaking so to speak

question about running in the cold, do you all get frozen toes? I am very aware that they become icicles

stickyLFDTfingers · 06/12/2011 14:25

rhet had you seen this? wicklow round run

Found the above when looking up Sharon Gaytor, who is apparently coming to the park run this week.

sfx sounds like a difficult situation, I hope school is helpful. Is your DD ok? Hope she's not too upset by it all.

stickyLFDTfingers · 06/12/2011 14:30

oh and sfx yes! - completely lost feeling in my right foot yesterday. I don't know how it's possible really given that the blood must be pumping round. I was diagnosed with Reynaud's years ago (someone else was talking about it upthread). I do thermal socks, double up etc but am rather Xmas Confused given you'd think the act of running in itself would warm up the extremities.

Anyway, have to bake a zillion cookies, so I'll be warmed up next to the oven now!

bonkersLFDT20 · 06/12/2011 14:38

sticky Since you asked. I work in a team of 5. This team is part of a bigger group. We have our group lunch on Thursday and our team lunch on Friday. Neither are that thrilling, the first in the work canteen and the second in a pub maybe. I'd rather be rubbing TBH.

futurity · 06/12/2011 16:15

sfx yes...my feet and toes were freezing this morning. My head and hands were actually a bit too hot (due to hat and gloves), my top half was ok but my legs and especially my bum were freezing despite winter tights on. Weird considering that's where most of my fat is!

runnerstipple · 06/12/2011 16:48

Just spent a happy half hour catching up with thread while ds1 &2 have piano. Running sunglasses are not hardcore fanny, they are a vital piece of kit to stop crows feet Grin. Seriously, I bought some this summer and love them. They are light weight and don't slide down my nose.

MoshiMoshi · 06/12/2011 16:55

futurity - there isn't much blood flow around one's arse fat hence why your arse gets cold compared to legs, for example, that warm up throughout the run.

Big hugs orange. You can have one too sfx. Smile

DrNortherner · 06/12/2011 17:14

I think I have lost my MN Mojo Sad That ever happen to you guys?

Seriously though, my industry just gets manic this time of year and there is not enough time in the day. I feel a tad stressed about it all.

rhet glad to hear dd2 is settling in OK, am sure dd1 will love her to bits.

fannY the running grips things you mention is it the Traks things that Moshi linked to a while back? If so I already have some in the cupboard waiting to come out on an icy day, which will be soon.

futurity · 06/12/2011 17:26

ahhh...thats why...thanks Moshi...I was just very shocked how cold my arse was and how it didn't warm up at all!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 06/12/2011 18:00

Sorry the gp appointment wasn't more productive orange. is it 2 years because you already have children? Did they say anything about the CS scarring maybe being an issue?

sfx, how awful for poor DD, hope she is ok and that things get sorted.

DrNo, hope you get your mojo back, we miss you. Hope work settles down soon

futurity, you and your poor cold bottom!! You did very well to run today, it was Baltic!!

Rhet, glad DD2 settling in well at home and that DP bonding well. What did DD1 make of the orange scooter? You are perhaps still going round and round the block on it!!

And what, pray tell, type of cookies are they sticky???

We have had a busy day. Had parent meeting at pre-school where they said DD1 getting on great, then had neighbour in for coffee them midwife came round then took DD1, finally, for a haircut. Phew. DP taking DD1 to see Happy Feet Too tomorrow afternoon so will be nice to get some downtime! K has regained birtheeight and then some! She is now 8 pound 6 so am really pleased and will stop worrying so much about feeding and just keep doing what we have been doing.

Dad's wife's funeral tomorrow. Am really gutted I couldn't go. Will feel strange not to be there. It would have been their 8th wedding anniversary today. Sad. just tried to call but no answer so am hoping he is out at family members for dinner.

stickyLFDTfingers · 06/12/2011 18:10

peach that is very sad. I guess there is some sort of special date at any given time of year, but so close to their anniversary does seem very poignant. You do have the very best of reasons not to be there, and it must be wonderful for your Dad at this terrible time for him to have the little shining corner of hope that is Kate. I'll be thinking of you all tomorrow xx

On a more mundane theme - they're giant chocolate button cookies. It's a Canadian recipe I'm trying for the first time. Fortunately I have the five thousand over to test them (only a couple of the DDs friends, really, but seems like more Xmas Wink)

Bonkers I hope you don't think I was being snotty about your Christmas lunches (they don't have a nervous smile emoticon?), I was just amused by your litany of lunches Xmas Smile

DrNo sort of glad to hear you're manic - nice to hear someone's job should be safe! I hope you get some running in to counterbalance the madness.

Weather permitting, hope to get a nice long one in tomorrow. One day inside and I'm already stir crazy!

monkeyLFDTwench · 06/12/2011 18:22

futurity I get a cold bum too despite huge amounts of insulation I think that although there is a fair amount of wobbling there isn't enough movement to keep it warm! Moshi I can't believe there's an ounce of fat on you, do you feel the cold or do you zip round so much you don't feel it?

orange that's very frustrating. Just to make you laugh though, my brother and wife went through fertility investigations - nothing wrong apart from too much shagging! Turns out that sex every single day and often twice wears out the old swimmers. I'm surprised my brother had the energy to make it up the stairs every night!

peach great news about the baby weight! Sorry to hear you can't go to the funeral - but you were there when it counted to offer support, and that must mean a lot to your dad Smile.

runners I'd love some proper sunnies but have problem enough buying prescription ones!

bonkers it's been years since I went to a works do - but DH has them coming out of his ears at the mo so I get to play wifey at home all alone Smile.

cherry Morrisons is great for cheap and nasty sugar loaded stuff. Get in there!

DrN do you need me to send round M. Poirot for The Case Of The Missing Mojo?

sticky - send us a cookie and I'll send you a homemade mince fanny pie. Had a school coffee morning at mine today and my latest burnt offerings were "surprisingly" untouched. Mind you, the latest mince pies looked more like pork pies, so no blame there Smile.

Is it really sad that the whole time I was thinking "leave, darn it, I've got an appointment with Jillian and she gets extra cross if I'm late!"?

monkeyLFDTwench · 06/12/2011 18:27

Oh and am loving the SWSP. You can keep Anita and Natalie, I've got Maddie and Barsh Bath Bashe Bavshe another girl to feel inadequate next to. Together with long lingering shots of their abs just to remind me what I haven't got!

Wheelybug · 06/12/2011 18:37

terribly busy today so haven't been able
To get on and say THANK YOU to fanny. My trax have arrived, can you send some snow too so I can try them out ? Look great, I think I have tried them on the right way !

peach what a hard day for your family tomorrow Sad. Thinking of you and them. Good news on dd2's weight. Well done !

orange - sorry appointment didn't go too well. Two years sounds a bit extreme. I guess it was a few years ago I was in your position but then it was 1 year under 35, 6 month over. 2 years is shocking when you also take in consideration the time
Appointments take to come around/ treatment etc. Can you see a different gp? One (a long term locum) would have referred me sooner than a year (despite me being under 35 at the time) due to the fact I hd conceived easily twice before..... And maybe the fact I was an emotional
Wreck in her officeBlush. I think they key is to push and embellish the truth (ie you have been trying for 18 months...).

sfx sorry your dd is having problems and I hope the school sort it. Well done for being understanding - must be hard for you.

runners I came out of the pool today and tucked into a wispa as needed sugar! Then bumped into a school mum whilst stuffing
My face but got my comeuppance when dd2 snatched it off me whilst I was talking and scoffed it.

Hope everyone's extremities have thawed out. No running for me today but went for a swim. Decided to time myself on a 200 m swim and did it in roughly 5 mins which according to the women's only Tri results is about average for the event but that is in open water and I expect if I looked at other tri's my time would be pitiful plus I'd have to swim further Grin. So, will keep on practising and think about it again for 2013!

Wheelybug · 06/12/2011 18:40

Oh and this will make you giggle.... DH's event department f**ked up and they do not have the ticket allocation they thought. So DH is not going to the 200m final. I did actually feel quite sorry for him, especially when he'd had it confirmed and had invited his biggest clients. He'll get some for something almost as good but not
Quite so.

futurity · 06/12/2011 18:53

wheely that's a shame..poor DH Grin

I was mad running in the cold...I'm off out to play netball in it in one hour (I need a cold smiley!)

orangeLFDThead · 06/12/2011 20:51

I have messaged them fanny but no reply yet.
[oh] sfx hope dd ok, poor thing. Hope school sort it. How old is she?
No chance of private referral cherry. She said 2 years for everyone. She said nothing about the scarring but last time I mentioned it a couple of months ago (different gp) he said that could cause problems. Infact now remember he said a year before they can refer on. This one seemed to imply probably dh as he has no children, but obviously that just guess work. I am not stressing too much about the 2 year wait as I think she wrong so once have blood and sperm results will book in with another doc to discuss results. If they still say two years I will be making a fuss. I am already at risk of mc, then they say your risk increases every year you are over 35. So if it takes me along time now but then I do mc again then have to try again, well its a long time. Ah your poor brother monkey Grin. Thankyou everyone for your all your kind words, you are all so lovely.
Glad k has put weight on peach, I remember getting very stressed about the boys weight when they were little. Seems daft now. Those charts don't help though they never followed any lines. They will all undestand you not being there. Hope it all goes ok, well as ok and these things can [hugs]. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.
Went out for lunch with my mum today then bought myself some skinny jeans. I have never had the guts to wear them before. I normally hide myself in clothes but I'm bein a bit more braver recently as looking a bit more toned. Dh likes the skinny jeans Grin.
Going to watch the programme on tonight about tourettes, the mum on the programme has given me quite a bit of advice on facebook about tourettes.

monkeyLFDTwench · 06/12/2011 21:03

Is that on itv? Am going to watch that on +1.

orangeLFDThead · 06/12/2011 21:07

Yes if any one watching it now the park that is on is where I do my park run Smile

fannybanjo · 06/12/2011 21:11

orange on the race list (you can access it on the race page on Stockport Harriers) states that you collect them on the day of race. Smile. Have a look on race list to check your name is on it.

Debi and monkey got your money thank you!

sfx sorry to hear about DD being hit. Fingers crossed it gets sorted.

I was a live wire in school and used to stand up for everyone so always ended up in scrapes. My mum lost count of times she was called because I was in the heads office BUT I NEVER hit anyone first. My motto was bully me or my friends and I'll come at you back twice as hard. It worked. [blush Grin] I wouldn't teach my child to hit back but if they were being severely bullied, self defence lessons would be first port of call. On old school friend is a World Champion kick boxer and he started age 13 as he was being bullied for being overweight. Sometimes knowing you have strength to fight back is a real confidence boost. This is not directed to your DD sfx but just my thoughts on bullying and how I dealt with it myself as a child. Hope your DS ok monkey.

So tired I can't even think of anything vulgar or swear. I need to check my resting heart rate for my HRM but don't think I can be arsed.

rhetorician · 06/12/2011 21:11

hello all; somewhat fraudulent non-running post, but running service (oh dear fanny will be on to that) will be resumed tomorrow - 4 miles, maybe. Am dying to get out, even though I've only had about 4 hours sleep...

Well, day one of looking after 2 children over - man, it's tiring! DD1 at home, and I think she's coping pretty well, especially considering that she feels grotty. She's a bit unsure, but she has given her wee sister lots of hugs and kisses, and is keen to help with nappies, bum wiping etc. She's a star. But she has been a bit tricky as well, mostly an attention thing, I assume. Plus there are visitors. And the routine is all in bits.

A is just wonderful - she is feeding well, DP's milk has come in; she feeds, she sleeps...long may it last. DD1 was so tricky to feed, and DP hated most of it, but this seems to be working much better. I am sure there are tough times ahead, but so far we are doing OK.

I hope you manage to progress the fertility thing, orange - if you haven't tried it, you and dh might have a go at Marilyn Glenville's Getting Pregnant Faster - you take lots of vits (both of you) and eat a very healthy diet. DP did it twice and swears that both our lovely dds (take a bow, DP) were down to producing a 'clean' egg after 3 months of the diet. Can't do any harm, and she lost weight on it too.

sorry too about (just skimming) cameras up arses, ginormous snots up noses, and the various other stresses and traumas of life...I am a bit spaced out!
