All ye fine runners who wish to get together to discuss running-related topics, or otherwise, come and join us here. We are a friendly and incredibly supportive group of runners, varying in ability, but all bonded together by a common theme of loving running, committed to squeezing it into our busy lives and wanting to improve our own PBs. So whether you are a full-time mum, part-time working mum, full-time working mum, working from home mum, mum who is studying, or even a dad Grin, add your race to the list so you can be sure of some moral support and advice along the way. And if you aren't racing, don't worry as you can enjoy the race reports and race vicariously.

Double shred!

orangeLFDThead · 03/12/2011 21:15

Why is it wheneve I miss a couple of days you seem even more talkative. Got loads to catch up on.
peach I will def be listing all the werid and wonderful things from my goody bag, if I am ok to do it. I went to do 5 miles this morning after resting my knee from monday. I got to 4 miles no problem then my knee started hurting again so had to walk the last mile back Sad. From looking up think it i.t band so going to be stretching that loads. But don't know if it will be ok for next weekend Sad Sad. Was planning to do hills on monday, don't know what to do? Glad yourr dad seems ok.
Ange I would get checked too if you having pain. I have already been told I have lots of adhesions and scar tissue from cs, they looked into it as I was having pain and heavy bleeding. I stongly suspect thats why I am not conceiving dc3.
Well done fanny on the 18 miles and good timing too.
Well done on losing 6lbs rhet and well done on the pb. Hope dp not too fed up.
Moshi hope you get the dog situation sorted.
Oh dear master, its only temp and you will soon be out running again soon. Although I imagine its frustrating
I also really struggle for the first 3 miles and really want to stop and sometimes do have 30 secs walk, but once I get past 3 miles Im fine. Its very annoying.
Wheely similar thing I asked dh if he would like to go dirty dancing the musical, he pulled a face and said no. Two weeks later he comes back from work his boss has booked tickets for them all to go and see it for the christmas do, not impressed.
futurity and monkey hope you both feel better soon.
I also put on a load of weight after ds1 born and did not lose it till pregnant with with ds2.
Thats a good time wheely you should be pleased with yourself.
Sorry if missed anything.

MrsWednesday · 03/12/2011 22:18

I never lost my baby weight through breast feeding either - held on to pockets of lard around my waist until I stopped (and for the subsequent five years...)

Thanks for trainers advice, am v tempted to buy some but will hold on till Jan if poss.

Great race report Rhet, you are progressing and improving all the time.

Was v impressed by the nonchalant ease with which Fanny did 18 miles, you will sail round the Manny Fanny Marathon. I did my one and only marathon at 10 m/m pace, and finished in 4.23 hrs so you could be under 4 hours?

No running today, also feeling rough, mouth ulcers and general tiredness after long day of meetings and travel yesterday - no shredding either apart from DH who is getting into it now. Will do better tomorrow, promise.

How long have you been shredding monkey to have lost inches?

stickyLFDTfingers · 03/12/2011 22:47

rhet that is awful - lots of families must just not go to the doctor. I wonder has the age limit changed or were we just lucky with DD1. She is a healthy little blighter, thank goodness. Hope you get your run in. Has your DP got something that she finds involving? I seem to remember getting very high scores at Sim city at that stage she's at Blush!

orange I reckon if you've damaged a muscle/ligament you have to be gentle with it to let it heal. Ice is good. Really do hope you're fit for Stockport.

monkeyLFDTwench · 03/12/2011 22:48

mrsW three weeks of Shred plus have done the Six Week Six Pack a few times. Must admit I'm finding it quite addictive!

monkeyLFDTwench · 03/12/2011 22:50

How long till the cvs by the way?

bonkersLFDT20 · 04/12/2011 07:44

Nice race report Rhet.
How nice to have a race so close to where you live.
How funny about all the runners getting in the way of the miserable woman!
Did you wear a Santa hat?
I think if you stop chatting when racing you will easly get under 30 mins for a 5K! Chatting while racing.....tskkk...

I bought a new running top yesterday. It is all black and snug and has long arms with thumb holes.

ibbydibby · 04/12/2011 09:48

Rhet great report, well done. Love that you did an Accidental Duathlon. hope DD ok, and of course DP. Agree that 5ks are hard going - that's why I love doing parkrun (5k) most weeks, as I feel it is good for me to do something where I have to push myself a bit more. DH and DS1 did a parkrun yesterday close to MIL's house, DH thought it was hysterical that he had improved his previous PB by 1 second (when he thought he hadn't done very well...grrr). Sounds like you are tempted by local running club - I can honestly say it is one of the best things I have ever done!

There always seems to be a Shouty Someone in a road race where road closures/delays are involved - despite road signs/letters to affected households etc. I guess there is always the chance that the person being held up is not local and so didn't know about it in advance, but in that position I think I would resign myself to the fact that I had to wait - and sit back and enjoy/clap/cheer (or maybe moan to myself if in a hurry Shock)

Wheely that is so annoying about DH and tickets. Really feel for you.

Not run since Monday evening, due to snot-laden head. Feeling much better, but weak and wobbly, and a bit sinusy. Off to Sainsburys soon.

rhetorician · 04/12/2011 09:52

think dd has ear infection, plus peculiar spots on her shoulder. Am going to take her to doctor today (there's a clinic run by Polish doctors that's actually open on a Sunday). DP is in the bath - having short contractions at frequent intervals...it never rains but it pours!

fannybanjo · 04/12/2011 10:03

Oh no rhet hope DD ok and bloody hell, DP must be panicking. Good luck!

monkeyLFDTwench · 04/12/2011 10:16

Oh my goodness, sounds like this is it - hope you manage to get DD sorted quickly and get on your way, sounds like DD2 has decided today's the day!

monkeyLFDTwench · 04/12/2011 10:18

I'm a poet and I didn't know it Hmm - sorry about that.

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/12/2011 10:28

honestly, monkey, you pick your moments to go all Andrew Motion on us Wink

Hope your DD gets seen quickly rhet. Will be thinking of you all today...

rhetorician · 04/12/2011 10:32

I do hope this is it, the baby who cried wolf really isn't in it!

sfxmum · 04/12/2011 10:47

rhet hope all ok with dd1 best wishes for DP and all of you

Great race report btw

monkeyLFDTwench · 04/12/2011 10:49

sticky more Pam Ayres I think - always happens when I get excited!

monkeyLFDTwench · 04/12/2011 10:52

Oh and in an outbreak of culinary enthusiasm over experience I have just made mince pies with ds3. Except that the tray thing was too small so I decided to improvise and make my own shapes. Unfortunately what with pushing and crimping the pastry at the sides, they've gone a bit oblong and I've ended up with mince fannies Grin. DH has gone upstairs crying with laughter.

sfxmum · 04/12/2011 10:55

Monkey and her culinary smut Grin and seasonal no less!

sfxmum · 04/12/2011 10:59

Bonkers nice top was looking for something similar found one by Zoca but bit expensive
wheely sympathies for the tickets

Sorry about piecemeal catching up, am on the phone. Spent half the night awake with dd, she now seems bright and bushy tailed playing games on my laptop
Dh making a fry upHmm I need coffee pronto

Themasterandmargaritas · 04/12/2011 11:16

Ooooo fingers crossed Rhet. If you don't get a chance to take dd to the docs give her a double dose of nurofen for kids that'll reduce the inflammation for a good 6 hours. Who is looking after her when you go to the hossie?

peachLFDTsmuggler · 04/12/2011 11:30

Omg how exciting Rhet, and how rubbish about poor DD, hope she is ok. What a day!

Pass round the mince fannies monkeys!!!

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/12/2011 12:25

cook yourself some willy-shaped pasta monkey and you have a complete meal!

MoshiMoshi · 04/12/2011 13:14

Good luck rhet. Here's hoping it all goes smoothly.

Just been to DD1/DD2's school fair. Relieved that one is over and done with. A school play (DDs') and carol concert (DS's) to go... Then focus on finalising getting house ready to pack and up rent (last minute bathroom revamp and decorating by v kind builders willing to help our just before Christmas).
