Anyone want to join me? It means we should start 2012 being able to run 5k - now there's an incentive to stick with it.

Aha, DD is the reason I'm doing c25k - it was a desperate way to try and give myself a little energy. I haven't had unbroken sleep for almost 5 years now so it's sort of a way of life.

Hope your tiny person turns into a champion sleeper!

Hope you're feeling better now kick.

Hi - I'm back. After a failed start in December I'm back and have started again AND I have new trainers...

So, last week I ran three times and finished week 1. I'm starting week 2 tomorrow. I'm not thinking about the challenges ahead...

Well done to all who've stayed with the program Grin

musttidyupmusttidyup · 16/01/2012 11:32

Welcome back 5ofus! Now there are 5 of us! Grin

kickassangel · 16/01/2012 19:20

Well still had a headache yesterday but did 40 mins at a steady pace on the elliptical yesterday while dd did tennis.

Today my neck and head still 'fizzy' nerves but used ibuprofen and deep heat and finished week 2. Actually found it quite easy and was disappointed when it finished. May start week 3 tomorrow but will see how I feel at 6 in the morning.

I run painfully slowly only4 mph. I can WALK that fast. Still, I shall keep going and trust that I speed up somewhere along the way

golemmings · 16/01/2012 19:21

Yay! Welcome back 5ofus. Just take it one run at a time. It's remarkable how well it works.

I did w6r3 today. Dh took dd to gym and I took the opportunity to go for a run in town. It was beautiful. The sun was warm but there were still patches of frost on the ground. I ran along the disused canal and there were so many birds and it was beautiful. I got to watch a blackbird slide and almost fall over on the ice too.

It felt harder today but I think that was just the cold air. I did run faster than w5r3 though which I was pleased about. Faster overall than any of other sessions this week but not as fast as the fastest interval. Looking forward to week 7 on Wednesday.

Hi 5ofus, well done for getting back on the wagon.

I have nothing to report, still coughing, wheezing and sore, full of co-codamol and pissed off. I am so jealous of you guys, and I'm getting left behind now :(

Congrats on finishing week 6 go, that's great!

5ofus · 16/01/2012 23:23

Thanks all. Courtesy of a late night shopping trip to M&S I now also have new trousers and a new top. Week 2 - Run 1 may be my most stylish outing yet Grin

Weather reckons it'll be 5 degrees by about 10 so I'm planning to go out at about 11.

I'm feeling inspired by your week 6 run 3 Go

Hope everyone else recovers well. I had a couple of colds back to back from just before christmas through to last week. I'm still coughing up ick from time to time. I prescribed myself lots of vit C and bed rest.

I'll report back on how week 2 goes! Smile

5ofus · 17/01/2012 13:43

Week 2 Run 1 Done Grin

Today was a slightly different route as the crossing of the main road co-incided with one of the 90 second runs.

According to GPS in W1R3 I "ran" 3.48km, in W2R1 it was 3.68km which suggests an increase of 200m if we believe the GPS is accurate - getting closer to 5km.

Wasn't too bad, but runs 4 and 5 were the toughest and I stopped both times about 10 seconds before the end.

How is everyone else doing?

kickassangel · 17/01/2012 20:42

Slept in Blush
No run this morning

musttidyupmusttidyup · 17/01/2012 21:12

Hi all. Bit Angry today as was supposed to be doing W9R3, the final run, and had been psyching myself up for the full 5K but have pulled a muscle in my hip. Now need to try and fit in run tomo and weds are a bloody busy nightmare. Not sure hip'll be up to it tomo tbh. Boo.

ohbugrit · 17/01/2012 21:46

Well done 5, you put the rest of us to shame.

Hope your hip is better quickly tidy, that must be unbelievably frustrating. You have mental strength now though, stay positive :) It would be worse to hurt it more severely and then have a rubbish start to your next running chapter.

I'm still out of action. Walked 3 miles today (this is not unusual at all for me, nursery run plus trip to leisure centre) and I was utterly exhausted afterwards. I'm crushingly tired and still coughing. And off my food (this is highly unusual for me, I would eat if I had ebola!). I really want to run so badly but there's no way it's going to to end well if I do so I won't.

kickassangel · 18/01/2012 13:42

w3r1 DONE

just about coped with dragging myself out of bed.

I'm Blush to admit that the 2 1/2 min runs in the schedule are probably the most I've done since enforced running at school!

musttidyupmusttidyup · 18/01/2012 14:00

Omfg I've done it Grin w9r3 completed. Grin Grin Grin

OP posts:
musttidyupmusttidyup · 18/01/2012 18:46

Thanks! Feels great. Really wonderful and a real achievement - id never have believed it if you're told me 3 months ago :-)
Plan now is to stick to 3x 30 mins / week for a few weeks or might swap in one run for a Zumba class.
Def gonna have a Wine tonight. Smile

ohbugrit · 18/01/2012 19:55

Tidy that is bloody marvellous! Well done you, and enjoy that wine, you most certainly deserve it :)

musttidyupmusttidyup · 18/01/2012 21:02

(not to mention all the errors)

ohbugrit · 18/01/2012 22:02

Haha I wondered if we'd get a drunk post tonight!

How shall we celebrate ... more wine, maybe? Grin

5ofus · 18/01/2012 23:42

kickassangel · 19/01/2012 00:09

Well done tidy hope the wine was good.

ohbugrit · 21/01/2012 19:04

How are we all?

Tomorrow I run again, woo! 10 days off, got as far as week 6 run 2 under my belt. Thinking I'll just have a bash at w6r1 and see how I get on, what do we think?

Hope everyone's ok :)

musttidyupmusttidyup · 21/01/2012 22:09

We think YES bugrit go for it I'm sure you'll make it. Glad you're on the mend. Having a couple of glasses of the good stuff tonight - DS1 and DS2 have gone for a sleepover at Grandma's GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin so only got DD to get me up in the night - I figured there was a 66.7% chance of a better than usual night so I'd have an extra glass....
Onto more serious matters... who's doing the race for life in June? (think its June??)
My IMapMyRun App worked today - I ran 5.6 km! Was bloody hard work though but feels sooooo gooooood after. Grin

ohbugrit · 21/01/2012 22:26

Bloody hell tidy, an optional extra 0.6km. You are hardcore.

Like the statistical analysis there. Hope it comes good and you get sleep!

kickassangel · 21/01/2012 23:01

Did w3r2 yesterday, but really struggled. So this morning I did it again & was fine. Yesterday I skipped the warm up as was running late for work, and managed to hit the touch screen when sorting out music, and messed up which bit i was on, so it was a bit of a useless attempt.

Today, I got a lie in then did my 'run' & felt much better. Actually managed a grand total of 2k during the whole work out.
