More space for us to talk about our progress on the C25K programme, the highs, the lows, the hills, the rain, our pelvic floors and our choice of running music!

All are welcome on this international thread, stay with us and enjoy success Grin

I must say that I quite like running in the rain, so long as it is warm rain and not windy. You feel like a real runner and there are fewer people around to see me pant round.

Still not been out. Got home too late last night and rather hung over this morning. Maybe tomorrow.

Unwind · 31/03/2011 11:35

I've never yet run in the rain, not just because I'm a wimp (I am) but because my DD has been bringing a series of colds and bugs back from nursery and I'm always afflicted with something that I don't want to make worse. I've not been out since Saturday due to a tummy bug, which has somehow turned into a cold. At this rate I'll have to repeat week 5.

Can anyone suggest a cheap place to buy some running gear? I think I'd feel less self concious running, if I wasn't wearing 10 year old tracksuit bottoms. I notice all the other runners around here wear leggings of varying lengths.

dubaipieeye · 31/03/2011 16:07

As it gets hotter here I'd bloomin love to run in the rain! Don't knock it people!

W7R2 tomorrow. I am finding 25 mins quite challenging and still haven't even thought about how far I am going - I will worry about that when I get to 30 mins. Back to the UK in a couple of weeks and looking forward to running in cooler weather.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 31/03/2011 16:12

The first time we went to Dubai - about 13 years ago, it rained and it made the cover of the newspaper the next day.

OP posts:
YorkshireCrockpot · 31/03/2011 16:36

I'd refuse to run in the desert too- running in mega heat is so hard (I would imagine!) so hats off to you Dubai!

Piste- I can't see the picture of me (not because my eyes are on the floor)- I'll look again later, my tinternet is sometimes a bit rediculous.

Unwind- I got some cheapo running tops in our local outdoor shop (can't rembember the name Outdoor something. Get your trainers from a proper running shop but tops/ sexy tights etc from walking shops, they usually have a running section.

Happy running all [one eyed] Grin

midtowner · 31/03/2011 23:51

Unwind I was going to suggest SportsDirect.com - I just went on to check the web address and have ended up with a top and some shorts for when it gets warmer Grin. I have the opposite of dubai - I'm going to the UK tomorrow and can't wait to run somewhere warmer than here :).

Yorkshire, hope your eyes get better soon. The picture didn't work for me either. I couldn't wait to see it after yesterday's.

Am tossing up whether to go tonight or tomorrow. I've had 2 sleepless nights this week (work on my mind), so am tempted to go for an early night and go tomorrow.

SluttySlutSlutOfTheSkies · 01/04/2011 08:11

Morning all, hope you're all well and your eyes are better yorkshire. Love the pics piste (I'm the first one too).

Meant to be on W4R1 today but had a setback during the week as the friend I run with has developed really sore knees. I would have felt mean doing it without her so we just walked and hopefully will catch up when her knees inprove, although she's really worried she's buggered them up. Can't believe I'm saying this but missed my little 3 min run :) - this running malarkey really does seem to be improving my mood, I feel sooooo much better when I've been out.

Have a good flight midtowner - you'll probably sleep ok when you get here - just at the wrong time Grin.

Eeek to desert running dubai, the most thing I ever did when we stopped over in Dubai was sunbathe :)

SluttySlutSlutOfTheSkies · 01/04/2011 08:46

most energetic thing I meant!

SluttySlutSlutOfTheSkies · 01/04/2011 12:35

W3R3 done! Her knees felt a bit better so we gave it a go - oh it was so lovely running along, I can't wait till I can do it for longer, it makes me happy :)

midtowner · 01/04/2011 13:01

Well done sluttyslut!

I did a half hour this morning. Cold and drizzly, but as I actually remembered to take some cash with me, I'm now enjoying a starbucks latte and a toasted bagel :)

My next run will be in Yorkshire!

YorkshireCrockpot · 01/04/2011 13:51

Woo hoo! Running in yorkshire... [homesick sigh] where abouts? Am living in midlands so miss home- not like am THAT far away but anyway!

Good news- eyes have stayed in- puffyiness mainly gone and redness is better and yellow weeping dried up (nice). Just look tired now so no change there. So off out tomorrow, currently trying to get dd2 back of to sleep, she is fighting it.

Well done for getting out slutty.

Keep running Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/04/2011 13:58

Well Yorkshire - I don't know what happened to my suggestion for not losing your eyeballs when running, but I will try agin
here

What do you think??!!

OP posts:
ClenchedBottom · 01/04/2011 18:38

Ooooh am really jealous reading about everyone's progress!

I'm getting nowhere at the moment - was getting back into it after 2 weeks off due to horrid cold quickly followed by bladder infection, then it's all stalled again. Lost my mobile phone somewhere on a 7 mile walk - so repeated the walk the next day to look for it, surely 14 miles walking in 2 days should have helped something? - then very busy birthday weekend (ok I'm not moaning about that bit!) then busy busy and now - the horror - the bladder infection is back with a vengeance. I've just started another week's worth of antibiotics, can't see me running for a few days yet. Will I ever start W5??????
sorry to moan. I'm really missing it! - How strange, as I do still sort of hate it...... but want to do it anyway. I think I'm missing the feeling of progress through the weeks.
Anyway, well done everyone, happy running this weekend.

ClenchedBottom · 01/04/2011 18:39

Ooooooh I do still have buttock corners, by the way! But they're not progressing any more.....

Week 2 run 3 done for me, I still found it a bit hard in places but will try to get out at least twice next week before my 2 week holiday where I'll come home and no doubt have to re do a week!

CalamityKate · 01/04/2011 19:50

Hi ladies - I haven't posted on here much the last couple of weeks. I'm doing the C25K but had a few hold ups, what with illness/lack of running buddy etc.... anyway I've been plodding on, and today I....

RAN FOR 20 MINUTES NON STOP!!

For someone who - literally - struggled to do 40 seconds at the beginning, this is amazing!

I was really worried I wouldn't be able to do it; it seems such a jump from running 2 lots of 8 minutes to one lot of 20, but I went for it and I did it! And it wasn't too bad at all - not half as hard as I thought it would be!!

Keep on running, girls - if I can do it, literally ANYONE can do it!!! Grin

CalamityKate · 01/04/2011 19:54

sluttyslut - "oh it was so lovely running along"

It is, isn't it?! I love it! Can't wait until I can go faster!

Thanks Sal, I intend to! DP is saying I should pack my trainers and go running if I want but i'm not sure I will, well I might pack them but whether they get an airing remains to be seen!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/04/2011 21:00

Yorkshire - check out your eyeball picture, posted a bit earlier.

Well I've been again tonight as we have a busy weekend, did nearly 4.5K with no ill affect except I am so hot ( in more ways than one Hmm) and feel I am melting.

I still find the first 500m the hardest, no question.

OP posts:
SluttySlutSlutOfTheSkies · 01/04/2011 22:16

Oh I'm so glad I found you lot - you really are so lovely and encouraging, thanks for all your support!

Thanks yorkshire and midtowner - happy running if you get out at the weekend.

Clenchedbottom, what's a buttock corner and do I need one? Grin

Supersal, I'm sticking to the flat for now as I find the hills wear me out too quick. I need to get myself a sports bra now so my ample norks don't give me a black eye as I run along :)

Calamity - I know! I love it! Can't wait for Monday ... 20 mins non stop is fantastic, well done! Am tempted to go out at the weekend but then i wouldn't have a day off in between.

bluebump - have a great holiday, take your running shoes, just in case.

And piste. 4.5K, you are a star!

SluttySlutSlutOfTheSkies · 01/04/2011 22:20

Oh forgot to say, I picked up at leaflet when I was in Aldi today and they've got running gear in from Thursday 7th April, jackets, leggings, socks etc. V cheap and bargainous.

midtowner · 01/04/2011 23:40

I should be packing, but I just wanted to check in and see how y'all were doing...

Yorkshire - I'll be in a small village in West Yorkshire with my parents and boys next week. So deffo no post-run latte/bagel Grin. Looking forward to the fresh air. Glad that your eyes are getting better Smile.

Clenched - so sorry to hear you are suffering still.

Calamity - WELL DONE Grin WELL DONE Grin WELL DONE Grin.

Piste glad to hear you are getting back in the groove Smile.

See you all next week!
