Someone needs to be Top Runner and do it x

JelliBelli · 09/07/2011 12:57

LInzerTorte well done on your run. It just doesn't get that warm here, so I almost enjoy running in the warm evenings - it can be beautiful along my railwayline. Last night DH and I saw a deer escaping from us climbing up the embankment.

Rather Envy I believe I run at an respectable speed and look like a 'runner' and finish my runs in the same style as I started but it doesn't make me happy......YET! It will, at somepoint, I am convinced. I think I may be looking too hard and should just look back six months and "celebrate what I look like and can now do" ( to be repeated in my head 6x per day!!).

sweatybrawearer · 09/07/2011 14:25

Hello all! I've had a week off - too hot to go out at any reasonable time of day, and I've been too tired to either stay up late or get up early. I'll try to get out at some point this weekend (famous last words).

BearGryllsBra · 09/07/2011 15:46

Like the new name Peasty Grin, no you need to do the honours for you are Head Girl remember? Netball Champ?!

Re asthma - I've felt like that this past couple of weeks too - legs have been willing, but lungs not so at times, despite having my inhaler before I go and tucked away in my bra just in case. My lungs seem to be burning at times and I'm finding that if I notice that I'm struggling, and then overbreathe to try to control it, it gets worse. Actually didn't go out yesterday as I've been feeling rubbish this week anyway. Just generally knackered. Maybe there's something in the air ....

sweaty hope you get back out there soon - maybe this is when you should put your AGP (Air-conditionedGymPlan) into action Grin. Is your foot better now? Mine still twinges but not as bad - looks good though as I've just had my toenails minxed like this - will have to do barefoot running to get the full benefits!

RatherBeOnThePea · 09/07/2011 17:49

JelliBelli - maybe you have more ambition than me as a runner? I am very happy that i can run at all, but maybe you are setting your bar higher?! Well done you though Grin

BearGryllsBra - whilst I wouldn't wish carpet to be laid in anyone's lungs, I'm glad it's not just me. Weirdly I don't get hayfever, but DH says it is very bad today, so maybe it's just a crappy atmosphere. I coughed such a lot last night, and this morning, there was my fitted carpet.. Not nice Sad This is why I've been running inside of late though, am going to go again tomorrow

sweatybrawearer - do you have an indoor option for when the summer is in full flow? Hope you get out this weekend though...

Yes netball teams and head girls, but maybe it's time to let someone else hold the ball and sit in the middle in the netball team photo? Any takers??!!

RatherBeOnThePea · 09/07/2011 18:18

and....
and....
and.....
I bought new running trousers this afternnon. Yaaay. No more Embarrsaing Holes for me.

dementedma · 09/07/2011 18:47

looks like running on hold for a wee bit. Was in car crash today - bruised knees and sore chest from seatbelt but ok otherwise. car a write off though! Sad

RatherBeOnThePea · 09/07/2011 18:48

Bloody Hell dementedma - are you all OK??

RatherBeOnThePea · 09/07/2011 18:53

How scary for you dementedma (((((hug)))))

LinzerTorte · 09/07/2011 19:25

Oh no demented, hope you're OK - sounds like a very scary experience.

Rather I splashed out on a new running top this afternoon; my excuse is that I need another one for our holiday so that I don't have to be constantly hand-washing my running gear.

Bear / Jelli I'm starting to yearn for some cooler British weather, at least when I'm running - not sure how much I'll appreciate it when I'm back in the UK next month, though!

Have more or less finished packing ready for our early start tomorrow. I'm hoping to be able to report that I've finished C25k when we come back, but will have to force myself to get up early as I doubt it will be much cooler in Italy than it is here - am hoping for a cool sea breeze, though. I worked out that I ran 4.27 k in 30 minutes today, so my next goal will be to manage 5k in 30 minutes.

sweatybrawearer · 09/07/2011 23:38

Oh my goodness dementedma, hope you are OK.

Linzer and Rather, glad that you are keeping up the shopping quotient on this thread. It's very important to have enough of the right running clothes Grin.

Loving the toes bear. I haven't seen that stuff hitting the NYC nail bars yet, but will live in hope Grin. My foot is better, thank you for asking. I walked 33 blocks in birkenstocks this afternoon.

DH has gone out for a run (he took the boys out this afternoon so I could start to write my final TMA - only 6000 or so words to go Shock). Depending on how he looks when he gets back I might try to pop out.

sybilfaulty · 10/07/2011 08:11

Gracious, Dementedma, that sounds terrible, hoipe you are OK.

Toes are lovely Bear. Where did you get them done?

I have just been out for a 45 min run / walk. Still taking a while to get back into it. I prob ran for about 35 mins of that but in 10 min bursts with a song of walking in between. Meant I had to walk through Copacobana but at least I got to appreciate the beauty of Barry's lyrics. I am going to aim to be able to run the whole circuit (which is about 5.3K I think - done in car though not fancy pants foot chip) then work on times and getting to 10k. My new year resolution was to run a 10k by the end of the year and I'm miles off. Literally. Must do better.

Loving the shopping chat. I haven't bought any running stuff for a bit, but have been shopping for London since beginning of June, when I thought I might be made redundant. I have known for 2 weeks now that I won't be, at least not for a year or so, but haven't stopped the comfort shopping. Or eating. Time to take myself in hand.

Keep on shopping running, everyone.

BearGryllsBra · 10/07/2011 09:51

Oh dementedma, you poor wee things, hope you are all ok today - thinking of you all, as you well know.

You'll have to have your tootsies done next time you're here sweaty, they would look gorgeous with your Birkies! Had mine done in a Spa and Beauty place in the local town sybil, but quite a lot of places are doing them now inc. mobile technicians. Very sparklesome in the sunshine. With you on the comfort eating too, I rather stupidly made these calorific delicious things yesterday. They are delish, but I might as well just stick them to my thighs and bypass the eating bit Grin.

Liking the S&B that's occurring on this thread Grin, I need new running tops too, but obviously ones that cover the dreaded camel toe, will need to go and have a look. Don't want anything too clingy either or it will show off my physique flabby filled with traybake belly.

Good luck today Linzer, run like the wind.

The sun is shining here for once, so I'm going to sit outside for an hour and get some Vitamin D - have a lovely Sunday one and all :)

RatherBeOnThePea · 10/07/2011 12:02

I missed the sparkly toes - just gone back to find them! I had a pedicure not so long ago and mine were lovely but certainly not minxed! When I was having my pedicure I was reading a poster on the wall about vajazzling. I think I might give that a miss!!

It is certainly easier running now than in the winter, remember when we had to wear woolly hats, gloves and jackets? I used to get dead White fingers even with gloves on.

Bear .... Hows your fitted (lung) carpet? Mine is possibly marginally better. Maybe not shag pile but short pile Hmm today.

dementedma · 10/07/2011 14:38

thanks all. I am very bruised and sore today. supposed to be doing a park run 5K on Saturday next, but don't think I'll get out much this week. Keep running everyone!

RatherBeOnThePea · 11/07/2011 19:24

dementedma - look after yourself please!

I ran 3K yesterday, but I so need new music!!!! Song titles please!!!

dementedma · 11/07/2011 21:33

Don't stop me now - Queen
Fat bottomed Girls - Queen
Proud - Heather Small
Pencil full of lead - Paulo Nutini

RatherBeOnThePea · 11/07/2011 21:48

Thank you demented!! I've just bought all except 'don't stop me now' which I already had!! But I love fat bottomed girls! That will cheer me up...

I need a couple more. Anyone??!!!

BearGryllsBra · 12/07/2011 09:04

I've got and don't laugh Love Machine by Girls Aloud! And some of the above, Fat Bottomed Girls makes me chortle when it comes on Grin. Killing time before I go to work, here's what's on my Running playlist at the mo:

Born This Way - Lady Gaga
aforementioned Love Machine
Do You Love Me - The Contours - gets me shaking my ass every time

RatherBeOnThePea · 12/07/2011 15:19

Righty ho. I am here with Bear's list and my iphone and itunes, and I'm going to work through, I reckon I need about 5 or 6...

Got Fat Bottomed Girls the other day, funny how two of you recommend it!! I'm thinking it's a team song Grin practically. Disclaimer... Obviously I'm not saying anyone has a fat arse...!

Got Another One Bites the Dust - could be very appropriate (5)

Let me look at these Proclaimers.........

Ok... I've bought I'm Gonna Be (500miles) 6)

I enjoyed that! Still up for more suggestions

Until my revamping I had an eclectic mix....
Nina Simone Feeling Good, not upbeat but encouraging!

Sorry you have fully fitted carpets Bear, me too Sad

We will have team music, what we need next is Team T shirts !!

BearGryllsBra · 12/07/2011 17:23

And Team Bras Pea!

I'm off to Grooveshark to check out some of your choices now I'm back from work. Also love Poker Face and TRex! Pleased you like some of mine at Beyonce Grin - yes ELO, it is MAGIC - seems to have just the right beat and when I think I can run no further, or take no more of Laura's music (does that song on W6R1 at the end really go 'not so wheezy now'??!) I rummage in my bra and change the music to Mr Blue Sky - that one reminds me of sweatybrawearer :)

Continuing my strange eclectic choice of songs:

Take a Chance On Me - ABBA
Love Shack - B52's
Jive Talkin' - Bee Gees
Love Machine - Arctic Monkeys version from Radio 1's Live Lounge where they arse around and giggle all the way through it - makes me chuckle
Something Kinda Oooh - Girls Aloud Blush
Town Called Malice - The Jam
Sex On Fire - Kings of Leon
Everything Changes But You - Take That (I heart Take That)
Little Lion Man - Mumford and Sons - I love Mumford - like to listen to them at the beginning and end on my warm up/cool down dawdles
Dog Days Are Over - Florence and the Machine
A-Punk - Vampire Weekend
Bang Bang You're Dead - Dirty Pretty Things
Chelsea Dagger - The Fratellis
I Don't Feel Like Dancin' - Scissor Sisters - SNAP - that'll make me think of you now Peas :)
Song 2 - Blur - wooo hooooooooo!
Teenage Kicks - The Raconteurs
Tiger Feet - Mud Shock + Blush

BearGryllsBra · 12/07/2011 17:34

No Speak Americano - genius!

Ooooh The Hoosiers, not heard that one for ages! Fab! Sunny Afternoon is great for a little amble home ....

Walking On Sunshine is great ma (are you feeling better today?)

Bloody hell, look at the time, I'd better go and cobble something together for dinner produce some culinary delights!

RatherBeOnThePea · 12/07/2011 18:58

YY Chelsea Dagger ! Brilliant
Clearly no need to apologise for Take That Grin
[heart] the scissor sisters, there are others too but that's my fave. I always get a bit Blush when DC sing along in the car < snort>
And Mud!! Jam! Blur!....Fab.
And yes.... Blue Sky is Sweaty!

What about Don't worry, be happy, bobby mcFerrin for a cool down? Always makes me Grin laugh, especially the line about the phone number!

Also got Men at work - land down under, because DS had it for a school project and I remembered how much I loved it. We saw them support David Bowie. Now you'll know how old I am. Grin

Obviously if you want to experience my DC's wit they put on (without me knowing until I was actually running)
the Benny hill theme tune
The Great Escape
And the Final Countdown!!

I'm overexcited now about all my new tunes for tomorrow!!
