More space for us to talk about our progress on the C25K programme, the highs, the lows, the hills, the rain, our pelvic floors and our choice of running music!

All are welcome on this international thread, stay with us and enjoy success Grin

Yes to scissor sisters here too, then an eclectic mix really, T Rex, Madonna, kinks, coldplay + some of that modern stuff too!! I want to have something different now though :-)

Mine's all old stuff, culled from 70s and 80s compilations that we had on Itunes. I just went through looking for all the up-beat stuff. Michael Jackson, The Jam, Blondie, Dr Feelgood, Steve Harley, Tom Jones, Frankie. My playlist about 70 mins and I just have it on shuffle, so I don't get exactly the same stuff every time.

sweatybrawearer · 18/06/2011 15:35

I also have quite a lot of the Priscilla, Queen of the Desert soundtrack.

NimpyWindowmash · 18/06/2011 21:54

I did W6R1 today Smile - it was good, bit faster, did 2.5 miles / 4k.

I generally listen to club classics both old and contemporary. I really enjoyed listening to an upbeat remix of "Here comes the rain" by Eurythmics, freemasons remix, whilst running in the pouring rain today, brilliant. Also, does anyone remember I wanna give you devotion by Nomad, circa 1991, listened to that today as well, god I'm old. I couldn't run with anything like REM or Coldplay though, even though I like that music, I just couldn't get myself moving with it.

JelliBelli · 19/06/2011 12:39

I finished the programme!!!! I did my W8R3 this morning with DH. It was very pretty hard work which was very disappointing, it felt very slow. My end time wasn't AS slow as it had felt though. DH suggested I may be premenstral and when I got home -TMI diversion- he was right!! So I feel a lot better about my time now, and I have looked back on all I have achieved since W1R1 and how my fitness has increased since then. Hurrah for me and all fellow C25Kers!!Grin

I am so impressed with the programme I am going to pursue the Bupa 10k plan now and am pondering on entering a 5k race later in the year. I have always considered myself to be non-competitive but have resigned myself that DH is right and I am actually proper competitive! I have admitted to myself I want an slightly impressive 5k time rather than to 'just'Shock complete a 10k race. Oh dear, I've just read that back and i really do sound like a pot-hunter type Hmm!

sweatybrawearer · 19/06/2011 20:35

Well done jelli, and great news about your future plans to keep running Grin.

We had quite a long hike yesterday, and I tried a bit of gentle jogging on the flat parts. It felt fine, but I was wearing in some new hiking shoes (to try to avoid any more ankle twisting!) and they rubbed a bit at the back. My foot is a bit sore this morning so I'm postponing my return to the running world until tomorrow.

rowrowrowyourboat · 19/06/2011 21:30

It's good to hear everyone is getting on so well! Take it easy Sweaty and you'll be back in no time (it just feels like forever when you're waiting Smile).

I found last week hard, still haven't managed 20 mins, I just don't seem to be able to push myself. I'm hoping it was just the combintion for DCs not sleeping through, late nights and premenstral, if not I'm just a wuse, which is prefectly possible Grin.

I'm still having trouble getting the gps on my phone to work to log my (pathetic) runs, I managed to get runkeeper to work once but since then I haven't got my phone to pick up the gps signal at all, even if I tun it on hours before Hmm

SuchProspects · 20/06/2011 08:07

Ran on Friday for the first time in over a week - managed the whole thing at the same pace as previously so pretty pleased a bit relieved I got away with being lazy. Don't listen to anything when I run, can never find earbuds that stay in and by the half way music normally just annoys me.

Rowrow have you considered ignoring the 20 minutes for now and trying to do an extra 8 minute section or something (i.e. 3 x 8 mins instead of 1 x 20)? If the progamme's not working for you mixing it up might be more fun than just keeping on trying and not managing...

sweatybrawearer · 21/06/2011 01:38

Popped out tonight for a quick leg stretch. It wasn't too hot, and my foot was OK. I covered 4k in 40 mins, ran most of it so quite pleased with myself.

Less pleased about the bag of crisps I stuffed down when I got in Smile

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/06/2011 07:34

It is quite an effort building back up. I seem to lose stamina very easily Sad
I will be running at lunchtime today.

By the way, if the crisps were cheese and onion, I'll let you off!!

Thanks pistey! They were plain.

Followed by white Wine and a big plate of pasta with spinach, mushrooms and creamy Alfredo sauce. I got a bit carried away remembering the other running thread where someone said if they ran every day they could eat what they liked. I don't think she meant my kind of running, or what I like to eat Grin

encyclogirl · 21/06/2011 14:14

Wow, well done and congrats Jelli! You give me hope. W2R2 tonight. Looking forward to it. Feel impatience creeping in, feel like I should be jumping ahead to W4 or 5 even.

Did anyone else feel that way.

I have Sigur Ros playing on mine. I love a bit of ambient running me Grin

JelliBelli · 21/06/2011 18:12

Encyclogirl I felt like I could do more when I did the earlier weeks too. I didn't though and even made myself walk home when I was in a hurry and could have run. The programme will work (and get hard soon enough I expect) if you just follow it. Be patient. Even if you skipped to W4 you'd only have saved yourself two weeks over doing it properly.

Sweaty you are funny! Grin

Should be running tonight as it's Tuesday but can feel a big wall of can't-be-bothered closing in aroud me........

sybilfaulty · 21/06/2011 18:16

Sorry girls, I have been rubbish at keeping in touch, and at the running. The last few weeks have been super stressful so instead of running (which actually would have helped a lot) I have been taking refuge in the house and the odd G and T. I am not now being made redundant - HURRAY - and this project finishes on Thursday so I am going to start again in earnest.

Would love to be able to eat what I wanted. and to do 5K in 30m.

Keep on running everyone.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/06/2011 18:33

I did 3K on the running machine - next time I will do 4K and the good news is my hips and knees don't hurt at all.

The bad news is, according to my machine - I only burnt 196 calories Shock Confused

Only 196 calories

Awww hello everyone, you are all doing so well eating crisps and drinking g&t's, I am v v v v Envy.

Went on treadmill today, only did 5 min bursts but feeling very despondent as was doing 28 mins only a few weeks ago. My fitness levels seem to have plummeted, as have my energy levels.

I am scunnered. Scunnered I tell you.

PistyNoMates · 21/06/2011 22:08

scunnered???? Hmm

encyclogirl · 21/06/2011 23:21

Jelli, that's good advice. I did W2R2 this evening and actually I did run thru the cool down and then walked an extra cool down. I felt I had loads in the tank, but now I feel really stiff.

I will stick to the plan, but I might do 4 a week instead of three. That should satisfy my impatience for a while.

sweatybrawearer · 22/06/2011 00:22

scunnered is a good old Scottish word that my mother regularly used. Shattered/worn out/knackered Smile

sybil - glad to hear you sounding positive now.

bear and pistey - well done for getting back on the treadmill!

encyclogirl - sounds like you are doing well. Keep going!

sweatybrawearer · 22/06/2011 04:28

How about these for the winter? And there was me thinking that people just put their shorts on over their tights Grin

PistyNoMates · 22/06/2011 06:52

I have been scunnered a lot recently!

That combination is weird isn't it. I need new running bottoms. The ones I've been using have Embarrassing Holes. Now I go to the gym I know this Blush but I'm not sure I want that combo!!

tinker316 · 23/06/2011 10:08
