More space for us to talk about our progress on the C25K programme, the highs, the lows, the hills, the rain, our pelvic floors and our choice of running music!

All are welcome on this international thread, stay with us and enjoy success Grin

Wine x 5 for Piste - hope you're feeling a bit better (and your iPhone too)
Wine x 5 for midtowner - sounds like you're having fun Wink

And hello wannabe - well done on getting started. I should be starting W5 on Friday but repeated W3 this week as my running buddy had problems with her knees and she didn't want to bugger them up totally. So Friday W4R1 here I come!

letsgetloud - funnily enough I've not had too many aches and pains but have been careful to stretch afterwards - I had a dodgy knee before I started which doesn't hurt when I run, only when I go upstairs (and only sometimes).

supersal - Shred? Shred? As well?! You are well and truly hooked!

We ran at 0730 this morning and it was lovely - saw kestrels, a fox, a rabbit and lots of tweety birds. Very peaceful way to start the day ....

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/04/2011 21:56

SluttySlutSlutOfTheSkies - I can relate to dodgy knees, mine went twangy and I had a week off.

You are doing so well everyone < proud >

sadly iphone has had its day, the screen is totally shattered

Supersal - well done on weight loss, I lost two and a half stone over last year, and I am finding the running is helping tone things somewhat, I even have a corner like Clenched!

midtowner · 07/04/2011 10:14

piste, how are you feeling today?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/04/2011 14:32

Like a plonker Midtowner Grin Thank you for asking!

Everything is a bit sore especially my knee, it feels sore on the inside iykwim, but it will heal, like my poor iphone which DH has sent off to be mended today. Hooray!

How's your day going?

OP posts:
midtowner · 07/04/2011 16:24

Take it easy piste. Glad both you and the phone are fixable!

Today is much better than yesterday thank you! We're travelling tomorrow, so the end is in sight!

dubaipieeye · 07/04/2011 16:27

Emotional runner alert: I finished my first 30 minute-er today and CRIED LIKE A BABY at the end.

My little man was born six months ago today. Traumatic birth and really thought my body was RUINED afterwards! I had never run more than a few mins before so to get to 30 felt like a huge huge milestone. Especially post baby. Am now having a large Wine to celebrate.

Midtowner - what you describe is about to be my life for four weeks as I fly back on Sunday for an extended visit with my parents. DH off to Nepal! Mum here now and already sending me nuts. Only 4.5 weeks to go...! I shall think of you as I run.

Sal I've been shredding too and it is so hard but soooo addictive. You'll get hooked on Jillian phrases...I WANT YOU GARGLING YOUR HEART!!

Piste - poor you and poor pod. New shiny one?

Welcome all newcomers. I was a new person not so long ago and now feel like an old timer. You can do this! x

dubaipieeye · 07/04/2011 16:28

Piste - mended iphone, much better. Faithful old running buddy!

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 07/04/2011 17:27

Condolences re: the injuries/falls etc.

I have to go for Week One Day 3 tonight. I don't want to. Who's going to make me?! :)

It's okay - I will go - but it may kill me....

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/04/2011 17:57

Get your butt out there Colonel Brandon. Or else.

< Piste looks menacingly >

Did that work?!

bluebump · 07/04/2011 18:00

Ouch Piste, and eek to a broken iPhone, i'd be lost without mine. I have my podcast on my iPod but the bloody thing broke this week so i've not run at all and i'm on my hols for the next two weeks, i'm going to be so behind now. Boo!

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 07/04/2011 18:47

Ha ha - I'd already gone out before I saw that but it would certainly have worked! It was soooo much better today than it was on Monday. I was out for about 35 minutes and was actively running for about 15 of that (dp timed me to make sure I wasn't cheating!). No sign of the leg agony which I had on Monday.

Thanks for the ass-kicking! :)

I have failed again. My children are ill again now, so I had to send the babysitter away as they wouldn't let me leave. The older one has a temp of 40.5. Poor girl. Am on easter hols from monday though so am going to fit in as much as I can.

Have heard of shred but not really very clued up. The Dukan diet book arrived today. Anyone tried that? I might go and have a read whilst I have a beer. Hence the need for diet books. I did shape up quite nicely when I was running 3x a week for about 6 weeks so just need to get everyone well and get back into it.

Keep on running everyone.

WannabeaShootingStar · 07/04/2011 20:31

I did buy the shred DVD and it's good but I'm not disciplined enough to do exercise in the home, I have to go 'out' to do it!!!

Thanks for all the encouragement, I'm on a rest day today but will be back out tomorrow hopefully to do day two of week two :)

letsgetloud · 07/04/2011 21:52

Sybil - hope your children are better soon.

Slutty - I did ache yesterday but not as bad as I had imagined. Your morning run sounds lovely. I would never get my backside out of bed.

Piste - hope your on the mend.

Dubai - could never imagine doing 30 minutes. Well done.

Well done everyone else who has completed more runs.

I did my w1 r2 tonight and actually feel ok. Also managed the full 8 runs/jogs. Whereas first time I had to walk the fourth jog. Took things alot slower tonight but hoping I will still get there.

CalamityKate · 08/04/2011 00:18

Everyone's doing so well!

Piste poor you falling over! Mind you at least you described it as "going splat" - when you start calling it "having a fall" you'll know you're too old for running Grin Hope your injuries are suitably impressive for maximum sympathy, without being too sore.

I did W6 R2 on Wed, and it was SO. HARD. Especially the first 10 mins; it felt longer than my 20 minute run the previous Friday! The second 10 was better, but I'm not overly hopeful of managing 25 minutes tomorrow.... we'll see.

SluttySlutSlutOfTheSkies · 08/04/2011 16:06

W4R1 - went out at 0730 again, it was so sunny and fresh. Same route but about halfway down the road, a wee furry black cat poked its head out of the hedgerow and ran along with us for a bit! Took this as a good luck sign that I would manage it and not keel over in a heap by the roadside Grin. He disappeared but reappeared on the way back, running alongside us again and causing much merriment for passing traffic!

Well done to everyone (dubai 30 mins, you star!), and good luck if you're going out later/tomorrow.

justaminute · 08/04/2011 21:58

Was meant to be doing w8r3 tonight but did my usual of recharging my nano and "losing" the played podcasts so week 8 wasn't there. Undeterred I went out and did week 9. I am now a runner. Oh yeah! Laura is fab in the last 60 seconds of the podcast. In my head I was chanting "you can do this" as I sprinted ran slightly faster for the final push.

Slutty I think I saw the same black cat. - it scared the life out of me as it leapt out of the hedgerow in front of me.

WannabeaShootingStar · 08/04/2011 22:18

Did day two week two today, did struggle a bit but think I pushed myself a bit too hard and ran for longer than I was meant to as I kept bumping into people, this village is too small!!!

SluttySlutSlutOfTheSkies · 08/04/2011 22:22

You must've been that runner that sprinted past us like a bolt of lightning justaminute! Wow, W9, that is fabulastic - bet you're feeling great this evening, what an achievement! You deserve Wine

I'm just entertaining the kids with my eclectic choice in music faffing around now playing songs on Grooveshark for W10 Grin when I can run to my own music and so far:

ELO - Mr Blue Sky
The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be, I'm On My Way, King of the Road, Sunshine on Leith - oh loads I love them!
Gypsy Kings - Bambaleo & Volare

and some Blushing ones which may or may not make it to the final playlist, and may be shared with you at a later date Grin, when I'm drunk.

Haven't been out since Tuesday as have a horrible cold. Am going to a conference today which doesn't appeal at all. Hope I get out for a run tomorrow am. Bit scared that by lapsing I'll end up fat and unfit again. Just want to feel better.

letsgetloud · 09/04/2011 14:18

I have now completed w1r3. Was exhausted during and after it. Not sure if you are just suppose to be able to complete w1 without feeling pain before moving onto w2.

I will start w2 either monday or tuesday and if can't manage or just too exhausting will repeat w1 again.

To everyone else running today or tomorrow - enjoy.
