Brexit

to still be angry about Brexit?

I've mentioned this before and got shot down - 'move on', 'we won, you lost', 'red wall was justified', 'democracy' (although as Brexiter David Davis said, democracies can change their minds) etc etc. Anyway, if anything I am even more angry now than in 2016! Seeing queues at Dover/airports etc (I know not only down to Brexit, but it makes it worse) just reinforced it. I'm not going to rehash all the reasons here, but am just interested in whether other people are still as furious as I am. (And I do know it's not doing my stress levels any good!)

I’ll be angry about brexit until the day that I die

anotherbrewplease · 01/08/2022 13:37

Completely agree

SilverDragonfly1 · 01/08/2022 13:37

You're not unreasonable, but try and ignore as much as possible since there is going to be years of problems to come.

VeronicaBeccabunga · 01/08/2022 13:37

Me too.
On a daily basis. I'm posting this from my laptop with a EU flag beside me.

SilverDragonfly1 · 01/08/2022 13:38

Oh and yes, I still shuttle between angry and dumbfounded about it all.

pd339 · 01/08/2022 13:41

The bit that really got me was in the weeks and months following the vote (when we had decided to leave but hadn't actually left) the brexiteers were saying that "all these predictions of doom and gloom haven't come true have they"? Morons.

Slavetomytoddlers · 01/08/2022 13:41

I’m not British or living in the UK, and I’m just astounded watching this from afar.

How could anyone have thought this was a good idea?

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/08/2022 13:44

YANBU. Long queues, empty shelves, pissed of Brexiteers, pissed off Remainers, pissed off holiday makers, farmers, fishermen, small and medium business owners, law breaking by the Tory government and international mistrust. Not to mention the expense.

PM Johnson didn't do Brexit, it is a continuously damaging, toxic, clusterfuck.

Butterlover1 · 01/08/2022 13:48

As the months go by I get more and more frustrated by it, there's lots of things coming out of the decision that were predicted by the remain camp and shouted down as "project fear"

-Northern Ireland
-Difficult border crossing
-Lack of labour to fill uk jobs
-Magical new trade deals not happening
-Where's our £350m a week?
-Prominent Brexiteers relocating their own financial and business interests overseas

However, I'm learning to come to terms with it because the only alternative is to be miserable about it. Can't see it changing any time soon, maybe not even in my lifetime.

Circlesandtriangles · 01/08/2022 13:49

@pd339 oh my god, YES!

and now that's it's all going to shit, still pointing finger at the EU member states! Gives me a headache every time

i also hate the faux outrage at suggesting the delays etc, which are caused by Brexit, are caused by Brexit

i look at the price of everything, the inability to find people to work (labour for building particularly difficult), the problems with travel and then the NHS in bits and think... those lying pricks who sold the brexit dream told you it would solve every problem, this is what you got, aren't you angry!? But no. It's everyone else's fault.

and now, trying to strip away European laws that protect our workers rights and human rights......... to remove "bureaucracy"........but surely replacing the laws will be bureaucratic!? Argh! I've made the mistake of thinking about it and getting myself wound up again!

Giggorata · 01/08/2022 13:49

Echoing the above. Yes, still angry.
The UK is a shitshow.

mynamesnotsam · 01/08/2022 13:50

I totally agree. I am still angry about Brexit and can't forgive the politicians who lied about it and the people who voted for it.

BrokenToy · 01/08/2022 13:51

Every single day.

I can’t recruit kitchen staff. Deliveries are fucked. Prices are insane.

This country is a laughing stock.

Circlesandtriangles · 01/08/2022 13:52

Oh sorry I also forgot I'm sick of being called a "remoaner" and this polarised over simplified brand of politics being played out today. And don't start me on the conservative leadership candidates - do you want to be stabbed in the right eye or left eye basically - I want them both to lose!

Quitelikeit · 01/08/2022 13:52

I wanted Brexit. I didn’t support free movement.

I am waiting for the HRA to be axed.

I didn’t enjoy bailing other countries out

trade deals have been done but still far to go

not our fault the checks required to get into France. That’s to do with them

Swizandswap · 01/08/2022 13:53

Well I'm completely delighted and proud of Brexit 😁 Happy days. Each to their own.

Topseyt123 · 01/08/2022 13:53

I'll always be angry about Brexshit.

Abra1d1 · 01/08/2022 13:54

I agree, OP.

I think for your own health, though, you have to detach a bit because it does no good to be furious when we can't do anything about it except eventually vote for people who will prioritise a better working relationship between us and the EU.

lot123 · 01/08/2022 13:55

No because I voted Leave.

ClaudineClare · 01/08/2022 13:55

not our fault the checks required to get into France. That’s to do with them

🤣🤣🤣

Cheeseplant72 · 01/08/2022 13:55

Hurrah for Brexit.........

SleeplessInEngland · 01/08/2022 13:56

I'm angry that no-one could agree what brexit actually was before we voted for it. We made ourselves weaker and poorer for no gain whatsoever.

Polling now shows 55% think it was a bad idea (with only 35% saying it was a good idea) so it looks like the remain sentiment won out, not that it matters when we have a first past the post system and the tory party only aknowledging that 35%.
