If we hadn't been in the EU at the time, with all those foreigners stealing your job, you would have had a much better paid job

🤣

Omg. I live in an area that's 98.8% white. It was probably 99.9% white in the 90s...so doesn't really apply not that it actually applied anywhere as brexshit has proven

@Peregrina

At one time drink driving was acceptable and 'having one for the road'. But the number of road deaths caused by this eventually led to change.

25 years ago trains had smoking carriages and you could smoke upstairs on double decker buses. We can't now.

So let's hear a bit less of how you could get blind drunk one time at work, as though it didn't matter.

💯

This is exactly why we have left the EU.
Peregrina · 15/01/2022 19:27

But not to worry - some Brexiters, Farage excepted, will be delighted to see more black and brown faces.

Opal8 · 15/01/2022 19:28

In fact...

Where are all these British white people going into the care and medical sector, farming, hgv driving...???

Its almost as if the brexshitters were lying 😲

Doesn't take much skill or effort to see clearly that all data shows that to have a booming vibrant economy with enough tax payers to fund decent public services you need immigration.

I'm pretty scared about the next 2/3 years tbh. I know SO many nurses/Dr's and teachers who are all high level in their respective jobs who are planning on leaving at 55.

One told me she'll stack shelves in a supermarket rather than stay on past 55. (This is a HT btw)

The govt will find they that not only can they not recruit for these professions, but the highly skilled SLT, consultants and band 7/8s will leave because of how they've been treated (both pre pandemic and after)

It's a disaster on the horizon imo

If only the media would stop going on about Big Dog's work meetings, he would be able to get on with the serious work of making sure none of what you say happens, but having a proper sesh and trying to make things even worse than you imagine.
BringBackCoffeeCreams · 15/01/2022 19:37

I worked in the financial services in the 90s and there was lots of drinking after work. But then we weren't in the middle of a sodding pandemic then.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 15/01/2022 19:39

I also used to have a big dog that would try to shag everything it came across. In the end it starting shitting all over the place and the stench was so bad we had to have it put down. Just saying ...

HarrietPierce · 15/01/2022 19:54

I also had a big dog that humped everything in sight including non animate things. He was much better once I had him neutered.

DGRossetti · 15/01/2022 20:39

not on the Underground

Peregrina · 15/01/2022 20:52

DGR, I was particularly thinking of South West Trains and the one out of Reading to Waterloo. The last carriage was the smoker and stank.
Nationally they were phased out in 2005.

London Underground I think was some time after the Kings Cross Fire which was caused by a discarded cigarette.

Is that another of the EU regulations that we are now free of? Can we go back to the good old days.

I suppose its only a matter of time before Chope or one of the other tory dinosaurs start bleating on about bringing back smoking in pubs/cinemas/restaurants/public transport.
Amazed they haven't tried to bring back hunting/hanging tbh...

I just read that thread about the drinking culture, some desperate defending in there, quite an eye opener.

They are desperate on the drinking thread, aren't they? I don't care if MPs are completely blotto in their free time. I do mind when people are supposed to be representing me aren't fully sober. I do mind when quite draconian laws were passed limiting our social contact both in work and outside, but we believed were meant for the common good, are totally ignored by those who passed them.

I saw the Mail trying to slag off Starmer. It's always the way - Labour is held to a higher standard. Just imagine if Blair's Government had been behaving like Johnson's is? The Press and Tory MPs would be screaming, and bursting blood vessels left right and centre.

DuncinToffee · 15/01/2022 23:00

Clav and Co are not getting anywhere with their recycled links. A stray bottle and the colour of Starmer's cheeks just doesn't seem to cut it somehow.

DuncinToffee · 15/01/2022 23:27

Pippa Crerar

V good @ShippersUnbound on Boris Johnson’s ‘Op Red Meat’ to win back Tory MPs - but will it work?

military to stop Channel migrants
more cash for NHS backlog
2 year BBC licence fee freeze
end of Covid restrictions
levelling up WP
help w energy bills

DuncinToffee · 15/01/2022 23:29

Also included a knighthood for Gavin Williams to keep him quite and scapegoat staff.

Peregrina · 15/01/2022 23:41

How will the Military stop Channel Migrants? Priti Patel's previous ideas ended up with the Public giving the RNLI it's best year ever for donations. It rather suggests that (thankfully) that the the Tory right wing are out of step on this issue.

I don't suppose she will be aware that there are international rules governing sea faring and rescues.

DuncinToffee · 16/01/2022 09:57

Dennis Skinner was right
When posh boys are in trouble they sack their servants.
