@ancientgran

I felt particularly insulted by Liz Truss telling us we need to move on. Does she think she is the headmistress or something. Odious woman, I don't know why they gave her the time on TV to just insult us and I reserve the right to not move on until I decide it's time.
So agree, I’m so tired of being told to move on. Yy Peregrina my dgd’s have missed on so much one being born just days before the March lockdown & the other one starting school in September 2020.
ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 14/01/2022 13:25

Thanks for the new thread, Opal8.

Well well well, there's something I didn't know...

HNY to all the regulars on here

Sooo then...it's been made pretty clear that only a chosen "few" are allowed to start threads on this Brexit board, that's a shame. Don't worry, I shan't bother trying again.

Will probably be contributing a good deal less which I'm sure will come as a relief to you all. Anyhow, all the best.

prettybird · 14/01/2022 13:54

It was nothing to do with the fact that you weren't "allowed" to start a new thread LouiseCollins28 and everything to do with your apparently goading and definitely insensitive musings about why refugees were continuing to risk life and limb to come to the UK. Sad

Seeing that as a constant reminder every time the thread was opened wasn't something that others were prepared to thole.

HannibalHeyes · 14/01/2022 14:03

Particularly as we were constantly reminded by Brexshittiers that Brexit was absolutely nothing to do with forriners and immigrashun. Repeatedly.

Until, one by one, your masks all slipped...

My memory was how much Brexiteers told us they welcomed immigration as long as it was from India (Pakistan to match for fairness) and Africa.

Certainly on these threads.

So here it comes. How many visas is this costing the UK ?

No way! Shock

Is that real? If that is, then the whole bloody lot of them need to go.

HannibalHeyes · 14/01/2022 14:23

Looks legit.

Wonder if it's too soon to watch Boardwalk Empire again ?
pointythings · 14/01/2022 14:24

I wish I could say I was surprised about the Javid brothers. But I'm not.

But no doubt the Tory and Brexit apologists will all say it's a total coincidence, nothing to see her, move along now...

Opal8 · 14/01/2022 14:31

@ICouldHaveCheckedFirst

Thanks for the new thread, Opal8.
You're welcome

I didn't know that about the Javid brothers either.

Did Louise get a thread deleted?

Talking about immigration
A man has drowned and 30 other people have been brought to safety by French rescue services after they tried to cross the Channel to the UK.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-59992918

We need safe legal routes Sad

prettybird · 14/01/2022 15:04

No - she started a Megathread when the 2nd one was nearly full, but the OP was so goady Hmm that @Opal8 started a different one Smile

It ended up with only 5 posts.

DuncinToffee · 14/01/2022 15:13

Ah thank you, I missed that completely.

pointythings · 14/01/2022 15:21

It was a truly appalling OP, the mask came off so hard... And the sad thing is, Louise doesn't even see what was wrong about it.

Peregrina · 14/01/2022 15:39

It ended up with only 5 posts.

But no one stopped us from continuing with it - perhaps asking MN to retitle it to avoid confusion. We chose not to though.

Contrast that with the umpteen threads running about how Johnson ought to resign. It seems even when one thread has filled up there is still room for a dozen more!

I was disappointed with Louise's anti-immigrant post - she seemed to be one of the few Brexit posters who had tried to think through her position. I could respect this, even though I didn't agree with it.

The few that actually engaged had cleverly worked out the necessary soundbites to make them sound reasonable and peddle the absolute bollocks fiction it was nothing to do with immigration. But as Edward Leigh MP, SOT, LB, FBF let slip last week, it was all about immigration. And now - hoist by their own petard - Brexiteers can watch as we wave in thousands of people from India and Pakistan. Now I don't really mind. My Hindi needs some practice, and my late DM often spoke of my DGDs love for the country he was born in (Darjeeling).

borntobequiet · 14/01/2022 17:12

I hadn’t seen that thread. But the OP was - well, weird. I couldn’t understand it at all.

borntobequiet · 14/01/2022 17:13

I mean I hadn’t seen it, but now I’ve taken a look.

Its awesome. Better than any of my attempts at parody.

Oh, I don't know. Your parody is pretty damn good.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 14/01/2022 17:47

R4 reporting that BJ & CJ commuted daily between Chequers and Downing Street during the first lockdown, also against the rules at the time.
Lord Finkelstein hopes BJ will resign.

DuncinToffee · 14/01/2022 18:07

David Schneider summarises it

Update

◾️ Johnson commuted between Chequers & London in March 2020
◾️ Head of No 10 Covid unit attended another party
◾️Sun Deputy Editor apologises for his party
◾️No 10 apologises to Queen for 2 parties
◾️Number of parties hits 17
◾️Met stay silent

And the day isn't over yet
