Even Sutton Coldfield conservatives don't want to be associated with Boris.

@Peregrina

It ended up with only 5 posts.

But no one stopped us from continuing with it - perhaps asking MN to retitle it to avoid confusion. We chose not to though.

Contrast that with the umpteen threads running about how Johnson ought to resign. It seems even when one thread has filled up there is still room for a dozen more!

I was disappointed with Louise's anti-immigrant post - she seemed to be one of the few Brexit posters who had tried to think through her position. I could respect this, even though I didn't agree with it.

For about 5 years I've been commenting on these threads, reading OPs from various people that were utterly absurd and hyperbolic.

I decided to try starting one myself and the one I started is the only thread in the 5 year series that was rejected by posters. Probably the only one started by a pro Leave poster too, and that was the response. That says more about my fellow posters than it does me IMO.

borntobequiet · 14/01/2022 18:24

The Westminstenders threads were generally notable for the detailed analysis and lack of hyperbole in the OPs, crafted by RTB and, occasionally, others.

True...

The rest of that sentance was rather redundant!

@ICouldHaveCheckedFirst

R4 reporting that BJ & CJ commuted daily between Chequers and Downing Street during the first lockdown, also against the rules at the time. Lord Finkelstein hopes BJ will resign.
If they weren't living in Downing Street why the need for the offensively expensive wallpaper and resulting scandal?

@LouiseCollins28 Your OP in that thread was truly brilliant. I read it while at work earlier drinking a bottle of wine and it made me laugh so hard my colleagues were worried for me.

Lord Finkelstein hopes BJ will resign.

Johnson will have to be pushed, his narcissism won't allow him to jump, nothing is ever his fault in his eyes. I hope he stays, some of the electorate who don't read The Sun, Telegraph, Mail, Express and their ilk will remember how he and other Johnson loyalists partied whilst they followed the law and stayed in their lane. It would make me happy to see the Tory party annihilated and, hopefully, over 40 years of neofascism reversed so we can ditch the Tory version of 'levelling up' and actually do some levelling up, which is what actually happened between the end off WW2 and 1979 and was all undone by Thatcher and has been carried on by every government since, even Labour ones.

Is Sutton Coldfield in Scotland or Wales?

(Am asking on behalf of Raab and Mogg).

DuncinToffee · 14/01/2022 19:04

Not London will do

The post war consensus is well and truly dead

Has been since 1979 really

Perhaps the disaster that is brexit and covid will be the societal shift needed for real polit9cal change a la 1945

Meanwhile The Met

NEW: Despite a flurry of fresh accusations, admissions and confessions of parties in the last 24 hours, the Met Police say tonight that they will only review their decision not to investigate at this stage if “significant evidence” becomes available.

I take it that a confession in parliament on live TV doesn't count as evidence in the Met's eyes then.

I know lady justice is supposed to be blind, but really...

Peregrina · 14/01/2022 20:04

Cressida Dick needs to resign also. She appears to be as corrupt as the rest of them. The Met appear to be truly rotten. Don't forget that someone in her force murdered a woman after using lockdown regulations to make a false arrest.
