The 'smooth' exit from transition now leads to a million and one little things that you can't get hold of or took completely for granted.

Why is sainsbury in NI selling spa milk? Why can't you get hold of your favourite food stuff?

Its a slow strangulation of the country.

In which you get to learn all about the merits of the EU and what a donkey Johnson really is.

Coronavirus sparks exodus of foreign-born people from UK
New study questions official data and says more than 1.3m may have left in 12 months

Coronavirus has caused an exodus of immigrants from the UK, triggering what is likely to be the largest fall in Britain’s population since the second world war, according to a new statistical analysis of official data.

A blog published by the government-funded Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence (ESCOE) on Thursday estimated that up to 1.3m people born abroad left the UK between the third quarter of 2019 and the same period in 2020.

In London alone, almost 700,000 foreign-born residents have probably moved out, the authors of the blog calculated, leading to a potential 8 per cent drop in the capital’s population last year.

and

“It seems that much of the burden of job losses during the pandemic has fallen on non-UK workers and that has manifested itself in return migration, rather than unemployment,” the authors concluded.

The picture is further complicated by new post-Brexit immigration rules which mean EU nationals who left the UK in the past year will, in future, need work visas to return and work in Britain. Those with settled status would be able to return to fill jobs, but new migrants would not.

Interesting prospect over visas...

It'll be fascinating.
You'll be hard pushed to find a leave voter by next year...!
Several business owners I know who import most of their stock from the EU didn't vote.
Not like it was an important vote or anything....🙄

Peregrina · 14/01/2021 18:31

Ah well, more jobs for the Brexiters. Every cloud has a silver lining. If Larry Elliot of the Guardian was to be believed, it will push up wages. Bonus.

That strange sound you hear is the collective simultaneous orgasm of 17.4 million TruBrits.

That lobster fisherman is standing in front of a sign saying 'No berried lobster in UK orders'. I thought you weren't supposed to catch berried lobsters (those with eggs) in UK waters.

You can’t in English waters, Scotland has different legislation.

Peregrina · 14/01/2021 19:12

You don't say! I thought we had to leave the EU to make our own laws, and now you are telling us that countries within the UK had the freedom to make their own laws.

SabrinaThwaite · 14/01/2021 19:26

Who knew. It’s almost like Scotland and England are different countries.

I don't know how much more weeping Jesus can do. But, you know those laptops for schools given to a company that gave the Tory party £105000, it seems that they don't come with cameras or microphones for Zoom. 🤦

mrslaughan · 14/01/2021 20:18

That FT article is interesting...... there is growing ill-will in NZ with NZers moving back ..... if you are in NZ for longer than 3 months the NZ gov pays for your managed isolation..... also property prices being driven up etc..... would love to know how many NZ'ers have left the UK.... and whether it's for good.

I can tell you it's tempting (but completely impractical.....)

That account is the one that tweeted about the "NHS nurse" accounts. More here

I was just going to say that Hannibal's Twitter friend appears to support Antifa from his hashtag.

mrslaughan · 14/01/2021 21:24

So he's anti facist and anti racists..... oooohhhh damning....
Jesus - get a life

Clavinova · 14/01/2021 21:30

So he's anti facist and anti racists

But is he anti truth as well though? According to some of the comments in the link he is.

mrslaughan · 14/01/2021 21:37

Well that's an interesting comment coming from you of all people

Clavinova · 14/01/2021 21:44

mrslaughan

Did you read SwedishEdith's link? That's the same man you are defending.

Clavinova · 14/01/2021 21:48

Full Fact:
For the record, this is not the first time we have fact checked a claim that Mr O’Connell has made. His was the first account we were able to find that shared a false quote that went viral during the 2019 election campaign.

mrslaughan · 14/01/2021 21:52

No - because that's not the point for me - you dismiss him to start with, with the Trumpism of him being antifa - as if being antifa is a terrible terrible thing.......rather than a democratic choice

RedToothBrush · 14/01/2021 21:55

Lexiteer?

Hows that going?

No, I read the comments on HannibalHayes' link first (missing cameras/microphones). Several posters on the thread were doubting his claim and I couldn't find the TES article he was referring to. I noticed the antifa hashtag on my second look. Then I saw SwedishEdith's post.

HannibalHayes · 14/01/2021 22:04

It's alright Clav, we know you're Anti-Antifa.

I think there's a shorter version of that though...

Clavinova · 14/01/2021 22:10

It's alright Clav, we know you're Anti-Antifa.

Do you? I had to Google them. Why are some of them wearing scarves and carrying baseball bats?
