The 'smooth' exit from transition now leads to a million and one little things that you can't get hold of or took completely for granted.

Why is sainsbury in NI selling spa milk? Why can't you get hold of your favourite food stuff?

Its a slow strangulation of the country.

In which you get to learn all about the merits of the EU and what a donkey Johnson really is.

Has someone already linked to another source with this news on the Stena ferry running from Rosslare to Cherbourg instead of Belfast to Liverpool as originally intended?

We are not being told the full story though:

STENA EMBLA is due to operate two round-trips in place of the STENA HORIZON ex Rosslare Thursday and Saturday, and ex Cherbourg Friday and Sunday.

It is understood that Horizon needs some maintenance to be carried out which will take around 4 days.

STENA HORIZON is expected to return to service in place of STENA EMBLA once this maintenance is completed. STENA EMBLA is then expected to enter service between Belfast and Liverpool (Birkenhead) later this month.

Also, there is no mention of the Covid test requirement for drivers in the BBC article. Of course demand has increased on ferry routes sailing direct to France avoiding the land bridge, although Macron has caught up with the drivers from NI. From a different BBC article 5 days ago;

Lorry drivers working for Northern Ireland companies will require a negative Covid test to travel to France directly from Ireland.

Some NI hauliers have used direct ferries from Rosslare to Cherbourg and a new route to Dunkirk to avoid Covid-19-related delays through Britain.

I love peregrine falcons
Watching them go into a stoop is incredible

@ListeningQuietly

RTB They are breeding them and interestingly they have to remove them after a few years anyway as Ravens are INCREDIBLY clever also, with the population recovering well across Southern England, she may well have had a better offer IYSWIM Grin
One of the Tower’s ravens was sacked for “conduct unbecoming” - he was destroying TV aerials.

I can recommend the book “Corvus: A Life With Birds” by Esther Woolfson.

My sympathy knows no beginning

mrslaughan · 14/01/2021 17:54

So Labour would back Covid measures. But Johnson obviously doesn't want to do that - he does want to stand up to them...... why?

I personally think it re-enforces his lack of leadership ability and quite frankly - balls...

Whinging Brexiteers eh ? Well, they should start getting used to being told to shut their unpatriotic and traitorous mouths pretty damn quickly. I'm pretty certain they can find one in two people with experience of that.

Yep!

Peregrina · 14/01/2021 18:01

Instead of wasting time dumping rotting fish, they should be marching on Downing Street to demand the £350 million a week for the NHS. Which I think pretty much all of us would agree it could use.

If that's re the Scottish fisherman, he claims on Twitter he didn't vote. I know. But, it's what he says.
Shrillharridan · 14/01/2021 18:03

Maybe I could set up a counselling service for brexshitters with help them deal with all the gaslighting coming their way??

Shrillharridan · 14/01/2021 18:03

Check out his twitter feed
You didn't need to vote to push their shitty agenda

prettybird · 14/01/2021 18:07

If that's re the Scottish fisherman, he claims on Twitter he didn't vote. I know. But, it's what he says.

But he did actively support Brexit and re-tweeted loads of pro-Brexit tweets.

Hence no sympathy from me either - but sympathy for those also impacted who did try to point out the potential consequences risks.

Sky update:

Backbench MP who told colleagues he wanted the PM to end lockdown has backtracked...

Remember earlier when it was reported Steve Baker, a prominent backbench MP and lockdown sceptic, wanted Boris Johnson to end the lockdown otherwise he would face threats to his leadership?

Well Mr Baker has now backtracked on that report and has offered his support to the prime minister.

That was quick!

SwedishEdith · 14/01/2021 18:08

Oh, I was reading it yesterday. He still says he didn't vote as didn't understand enough. The mind boggles. I suspect there will be a lot more "I didn't vote".

But was happy to back the leave campaign ?
TheElementsOfMedical · 14/01/2021 18:16

Lorry queues building up? Bankrupt fishermen? Rotten seafood?

One could try obfuscating the matter with screeds of C&P tangential wordclouds, but why bother when the intended target audience would equally well accept "There are No American Troops in Baghdad!" Hmm Mind you, the former has a veneer of something which might comfort the operative, whilst the latter might feel a bit too naked.
