Are there any Brexiters left?

... on here, or more or less anywhere on SM? The last entry on 'Leave Means Leave' is months old. Though I understand most sites are 'member only', now....

I am really quite surprised how they more or less evaporated on MN! They appear to be gone!

Why?

Was I an idiot to respond to so many, like, off the top of my head, mummmytime? Were they a bot??

The Arms collapsed. The victors are, well... gone!

Why is that?

Anyone who knows me will know I am a Remainer, but I patiently read, often 500 threads!- pros and cons, to 'get a handle' on the direction of travel.

However, now absolutely no one, bar Clav, is standing up for Leave.

I find the silence more chilling than the arguing.

Given the vitriolic way they spoke to people trying to build bridges with them, I am thrilled that they have grown the fuck up.

You quite clearly posted;
"Only a complete muppet would wade into a discussion and quote what he [Keir Starmer] said."

Surely this applies to everyone who quotes Keir Starmer on here.

bellinisurge · 09/11/2020 14:08

I just want to know more about Narnia where there is balanced, factual and respectful pro-Brexit discussion . It sounds great.

Only when it's of little to no relevance to the topic in hand. In this case any UK-EU trade deal that for all his opinions, Keir Starmer has no agency in.

Out of interest, which venue is it that discusses cogent arguments for Brexit.
I have no interest in posting on there I too find the aggression and swearing rather tiresome but I'd be interested to see what the points being made are

KenDodd
I find the Britain Bites Back facebook feed very nuanced Wink

Even when Brexiteers think they are being clever, they aren't. Firstly how can a majority ever be bullied ?

Bullied is a word I use very reluctantly, but I think the point is that Mumsnet is a vocal, strongly pro-Remain, micro community, so they are the majority here. I put up with some frankly ridiculous comments, and no I wasn't remotely bothered because it's only a few randoms on the internet who thought I wasn't doing the job that I actually was, but why bother? I have no idea who any of you are or the level of professionalism you have applied to your views, so why care (as you also were quite free to reject my professional view)? My interest in these boards is all about how echo chambers sustain themselves.

And as we know from history, no amount of name calling or intimidation can keep a good idea down, so why are they so sensitive ?

It's not been kept down. It is going ahead in spite of Remain's best efforts over quite a few years. Perhaps even pushed along its way by Remain's best efforts. The most sensitive person on this Board is a remainer. Clav has put up with all sorts over the years and rarely complained.

Like many people whose life has been affected by Brexit, I am seeking some sort of validation of it in terms of what was promised. Not some pound-shop psychic retrospective "proof" that it's all going swimmingly because we now have blue passports (that were never mentioned in 2016).
I don't blame you, but you'll just have to wait, because it will take time for this to graduate from hopes and expectations into reality, if it ever does, which no-one can be sure of. In the meantime you can demean it with sneery comments about blue passports if that makes you feel better, because making remainers feel better is the one good thing about these Boards.

@ListeningQuietly
Very funny.
I have to admit, I wasn't optimistic, even before I looked, that I'd find the most intelligent debate given the name was 'Britain Bites Back'.

@Toptotoeunicolour

Hi
Can you recommend a well informed, fact based site for pro Brexit discussion please? I really do want to hear some solid fact and good news about Brexit detailing how much better off we are. Thanks.

I'm sorry I keep repeating this but I really would like to find somewhere. I don't want to live in an echo chamber (and don't) I follow lots of pro Brexit groups but they're all so full of racists it's fucking depressing. I know you aren't all like that and that there are some thoughtful, well informed Leavers as well. I would really like an insight into what they know and see some positive (and factual) information about how well Brexit is going.

Toptotoeunicolour · 09/11/2020 14:50

@KenDodd
Sorry I've never tried to find a Brexit discussion board - I really don't do social media at all, except mumsnet if that counts. I do follow people who have worked as SpAds in DexEU or elsewhere in government and attend talks by them where possible (recently Zoom), but that's it really for me. I have very little faith in journalists these days so stick with people whose job has actually been directly relevant.

I think you are a Labour supporter - have you tried Labour Leave?

Their "News" seems to have stopped in early 2019 www.labourleave.org.uk/news So even they cannot find the positives of Brexit Smile

"I don't blame you, but you'll just have to wait, because it will take time for this to graduate from hopes and expectations into reality, if it ever does, which no-one can be sure of. "

Kinda like a new boyfriend that you can dump if it doesn't work out. No, wait a minute, you are stuck with him.

bellinisurge · 09/11/2020 15:23

Your continued characterisation of people who don't agree with you as " Remainers " speaks volumes. There is only Leave. We have left. I and everyone else has a democratic right to say it's a stupid fucking path . Or it's a hopeful path. Or it's a somewhere in between path.

Clavinova · 09/11/2020 15:28

Their "News" seems to have stopped in early 2019

Labour Leave Facebook posted an hour ago.

Caroncanta · 09/11/2020 15:29

Of course you do. And others have the right to cease debate and discussion, go elsewhere and leave this part of MN to fall into an echo chamber.

When the Labour Leave FB page ( www.facebook.com/LabourLeaveGroup ) is quoting the Telegraph, the Express, the Sun on repeat
I'm afraid they have somewhat lost their Left Wing credentials Grin

bellinisurge · 09/11/2020 15:39

Not stopping you Caroncanta .

Thing is, I desperately want to be wrong. Being wrong would be excellent. Egg on my face is a great result. Because if I am right, we are all worse off.

Clavinova · 09/11/2020 16:05

When the Labour Leave FB page is quoting the Telegraph, the Express, the Sun on repeat I'm afraid they have somewhat lost their Left Wing credentials.

That's what I like to hear. Grin

KenDodd - on Brexit threads there were endless attempts by leavers to explain why they voted as they did but they were sneered at and told they were thick and racist etc so they gave up.
You have posted hundreds, if not thousands of times about how all your leave voting relations are racist and I don’t think any pro Brexit site will ever convince you that leaving the EU could ever be a good idea.

bellinisurge · 09/11/2020 16:35

Don't want to be convinced it's a good idea. That ain't gonna happen. I just want to see it's not a completely fucked up and dangerous idea. Because, right now. It looks like it's only bad stuff. Not the good stuff you all swore it would be.

KenDodd · 09/11/2020 16:39

I think you are a Labour supporter - have you tried Labour Leave

I'm not a labour supporter, but thank you, I'll have a look.

Pumperthepumper · 09/11/2020 16:42

Absolute rubbish. All pro-Brexit posters ever did was flounce. I have never seen a single positive outcome, a definite positive outcome to Brexit. Ever. No leaver has ever given a succinct reason for how we will be better off out of Europe.

ListeningQuietly · 09/11/2020 16:52

Andante
So which pro Brexit side should we look at to inform ourselves

Clavinova
If Labour Leave is really a Tory supporting group, where are the pro Brexit groups that actually run through the positives for other than Disaster capitalists ?

Clavinova · 09/11/2020 17:11

ListeningQuietly

I (very) occasionally look on TalkRadio, Guido Fawkes/order-order but I can't vouch for the quality of discussion. There are groups such as Lawyers for Britain and Scientists for Britain - but again I don't follow them. I listen to LBC instead.

ListeningQuietly · 09/11/2020 17:17

Talkradio - Murdoch
Guido Fawkes - rabid Tory
Scientists for Britain scientistsforbritain.uk/wordpress/?p=277 - last web post 2016
Come on, you can do better than that Grin

are there any BALANCED pro Brexit discussion sites
where the issues and options are covered and ways around them reviewed?
