And if so why, and how do you expect it to play out if that's the outcome?

OP posts:
derxa · 04/09/2019 17:08

You live rurally, bit cut off from all the nearest towns, ie thick Hmm

onalongsabbatical · 04/09/2019 17:40

derxa no, i.e. the UK cut off from continental Europe.

Alsohuman · 04/09/2019 17:40

Another ridiculous assertion. Do you people actually read before you make inane comments?

MissGiddyPants · 04/09/2019 17:44

Dear god could your analogy be any more torturous

TopBitchoftheWitches · 04/09/2019 17:49

To whoever said yes and acknowledged there will be food shortages, are you aware of the amount of people who, in the U.K. currently rely on food banks?
I guess it doesn't matter if those people can't eat though. Leave means leave Hmm

onalongsabbatical · 04/09/2019 17:52

Dear god could your analogy be any more torturous
I'll have a go if you like! Grin
The word is 'tortuous' though.

MissGiddyPants · 04/09/2019 17:59

I’m just a humble Leaver.

Mamamia456 · 04/09/2019 18:51

Chupchup - Why is my post hilarious?

It's grammatically incorrect to say "that'll learn them. Or are you one of those people who use the word lend when you mean borrow?

Mamamia456 · 04/09/2019 18:53

Mr. Pan - Where have you read that about body bags. Do you have a link?

MsTSwift · 04/09/2019 19:11

I’ve not met a leaver.

How can you not know the expression “that’ll learn ‘em”. It’s a good one

Mamamia456 · 04/09/2019 19:15

MsTSwift - As I said before, it might be an expression (not where I'm from though), but It's gramatically incorrect.

What's that got to do with you not having met a leaver?

Mamamia456 · 04/09/2019 19:22

Also human - They're not stocking up on body bags because they think people will die because of Brexit, but just in case there is a shortage of supplies.

lljkk · 04/09/2019 19:24

It's funny how 'single market' is a phrase not written on this thread so far.

UK embraces a view that SM is something awful. But For EU, single market is a great thing. Worth protecting, sheltering, nurturing, supporting.

value of Uk trade

Alsohuman · 04/09/2019 19:43

Why would there be a shortage of supplies if people don’t die?

Alsohuman · 04/09/2019 19:45

And with “It’ll larn ‘em”, the incorrect grammar is kind of the whole point.

jasjas1973 · 04/09/2019 20:30

I wonder why 21 tory MPs, especially Hammond who has been in Govt until recently and has seen all the Yellowhammer reports, are prepared to ruin their careers to stop no-deal ?

These are Con MPs who have fully supported leaving the EU but with a deal.
Nicholas Soames was in tears at being denied the whip, he is Churchill's grandson, Ken Clarke a thatcherite, Rory Stewart a leadership contender

Why would they do this if no-deal would be ok? it doesn't make sense does it.

MsTSwift · 04/09/2019 20:58

The whole point is it’s grammatically incorrect! Correcting it is cringe. Fair enough if English not your first language

Chupchup · 04/09/2019 21:02

@Mamamia456 no, I have a degree in English! It is a well known expression! It's supposed to be incorrect.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 04/09/2019 21:04

Yes, I want it to go hideously wrong so the Leavers have to eat their words!

Well they won't have much else to eat!

StarbucksSmarterSister · 04/09/2019 21:05

No I don't want it, because I'm not an F-ing idiot.

duckling84 · 04/09/2019 21:09

I support no deal (though I voted remain)

There are 195 countries in the world, the EU is only 28 of them. 167 counties have not completely gone to the dogs because they are not part of this elite community and I reckon we will be fine. Sure they will be a transition period and a few bumps in the road, but in 5yrs time I'm certain we will look back and wonder what we were all so worried about.

Also, I'm bored of Brexit, I just want it done with

Milkywayfan · 04/09/2019 21:14

Hi duckling 84
If you are bored of brexit then no deal will be a disaster for you. Day we crash out it is then years of negotiating deals from a weak position and making horrible trade offs eg in food standard. And do you find peace in Ni and no bombs “boring”. Because crash out creates the Return of the troubles. Food shopping will be more exciting though around shortages.

TanMateix · 04/09/2019 21:19

Deals are built on trust and good will, what good will and trust Europe will feel for us after we break out practically with our political system in shreds and our economy in ruin, having deeply offended and de stabilised their countries, makes me wonder if breaking with a deal is the only chance of a deal we will ever have.

Sunflowers211 · 04/09/2019 21:20

Yes sick of Brexit, sick of Remainers spitting their dummy's out, sick of our Elected MP's ignoring their constituents. Let's crack on with it. I work in the NHS and no one is worried, all scare tactics to provoke a reaction.
