Brexit

Do any of the people who laughed and rolled their eyes at those of us stockpiling six months ago care to comment?

I seem to remember some rather scathing comments. I wonder how many are quietly buying a few extra bits each week and smugly congratulating themselves on being prepared. Forgetting the scorn and contempt.

OP posts:

Again, snarkiness to put people off. Make them think it's all about the beans. And not everyone has a shed. Or didn't you know.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/09/2019 17:05

I dont have a shed full of bake beans

I have a shed full of booze

bellinisurge · 02/09/2019 17:06

Now that's a shed!

RosesAndRaindrops · 02/09/2019 17:06

I'll comment, seeing as you asked - yeah, I'm still thinking some have actually lost their minds and WTF.
The odd tin of tuna or whatever extra, fair enough, but some of the threads I've seen are still in Da Fuq territiory, sorry.
So yeah, still laughing at them....

AutumnCrow · 02/09/2019 17:06

Maybe Ligresa can't afford her own beans. We could have a whip round. Fart them up to her rural paradise.

AutumnCrow · 02/09/2019 17:07

My back passage is full of vodka

TheBigBallOfOil · 02/09/2019 17:08

I find the sneeriness odd since even the government seems to acknowledge the possibility of issues.
They are not giving clear information however. Hence the guesswork and disputes on this thread

Ligresa · 02/09/2019 17:09

Ooh a tinge of chippiness as well!

God forbid anyone doesn't fully respect and admire the preppers! I must say, if you are a prepper, no deal must be the most exciting thing since y2k.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/09/2019 17:10

Ooh a tinge of chippiness as well

Who’s being chippy

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/09/2019 17:11

It is bellini Grin

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/09/2019 17:12

My back passage is full of vodka 😳

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/09/2019 17:13

I think you might be drinking that wrong

Ligresa · 02/09/2019 17:13

Yes there may well be issues. But having a few weeks worth of tinned tomatoes isn't going to help. Being resourceful and able to accept you cannot prep for all eventualities is probably going to stand you in better stead tbh.

TheBigBallOfOil · 02/09/2019 17:13

Here’s the thing.
Lots of people are appearing on telly sand radio talking about shortages.
The government could, if it could substantiate this, state clearly that there is no possibility of this happening.
They have not done so, to the best of my knowledge.
There is really only one conclusion that can be drawn from this, isn’t there? Am I mad?

marywinchester · 02/09/2019 17:18

A couple of pp said we don't make cheese here and don't have the factories to make cheese, just pointing out that yes we do. There are quite a few local small cheese making places near me and both cathedral city and davidstow cheese is made in a big factory a few miles down the road in Cornwall. So we'll have cheese and it might encourage people to buy more UK produce (not just cheese)

lovemenorca · 02/09/2019 17:18

I love these threads. They really tickle me!

marywinchester · 02/09/2019 17:20

Apologies for using the word cheese so many times in my above post. The word looks completely wrong to me now I've used it so much.

bellinisurge · 02/09/2019 17:23

@Ligresa which is what I have been saying and is the tone of all threads on this. You thinking that it isn't tells me a) you know fuck all but that isn't stopping you or b) you want to put people off for reasons of your own.

Gogreen · 02/09/2019 17:23

I’m still laughing, I think it’s just hysterical...I have a busy life and no time for irrational behaviour...

Instead of wasting your time on this and then trying to make others feel stupid (when it’s you that looks silly) try using your time to do more productive things...or something you enjoy.

HTH

bellinisurge · 02/09/2019 17:27

Hope you have factored shopping into the busy life that apparently only you have.

Gogreen · 02/09/2019 17:39

Of course I shop...just not irrationally like the world is going to end when brexit happens.

DippyAvocado · 02/09/2019 17:39

Being resourceful and able to accept you cannot prep for all eventualities is probably going to stand you in better stead tbh.

But this is something that can be prepped for!

Eg, my DC don't drink cow's milk, so for several weeks I have made sure I've popped an extra carton of oat milk in with the shopping. Very simple.

bellinisurge · 02/09/2019 17:39

It's not Brexit. It's no Deal Brexit. There's a difference.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/09/2019 17:40

bellini

I’d be happy to bet that just about everyone who has taken the piss out of stockpilers has more than a weeks worth of ‘spare’ food

They also have more bog roll Grin

People stockpile...they just stockpile cos its a bargain or Christmas

Every BOGOFF deal is stockpiling...buying more than you need

Ligresa · 02/09/2019 17:43

I wonder how many are quietly buying a few extra bits each week and smugly congratulating themselves on being prepared

I don't think the OP meant that nicely bellini, even if you insist that that's all the preppers are recommending.
