Westminstenders: 1001 Ways to wait for EUCO - Sprouts, Nits and Brexit

Not much more to say other than, all we can do is wait to hear our fate.

Which seems to lie in the hands of Macron.

I think these tweet sums a lot of it up from a couple of jaded soft leavers

Iain Martin @ iainmartin1
This terrible farce in Brussels tonight is like being British during the eurovision song contest. British entrant awaits fate, watching humiliating results come in, trying to smile for the audience back home.

George Trefgarne @georgetrefgarne
To be honest I think Buck’s Fizz and Cheryl thingummy would have made a better job of it

My advice: Don't wait up!

Pippa Crerar @pippacrerar
EU source on Macron: "He is in a bit of a schizophrenic situation - (his) domestic audience demands that he is tough on Britain for historic reasons. On the other hand, France is among the most-hit in any no-deal Brexit. It will take hours before we pull him down from his tree."

So Macron may end up being the one who gets the UK what it wants but is doing it to be tough on us. I'm not sure I understand EU politics.

We are entering the twilight zone. Night all and see you all in the morning!

Night, Red. And thanks.

Littlespaces · 10/04/2019 22:39

To be fair the UK would be worse if the position were reversed.

Sostenueto · 10/04/2019 22:40

PMK thanks as always for new thread REDFlowers

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 10/04/2019 22:42

Pmk, I’m taking your advice and heading for bed.

dreichuplands · 10/04/2019 22:42

Thanks Red.
I am often grateful for the transatlantic time difference. I get time to catch up while waiting in the school pick up line, often politics is still in full throttle. I'd sleep through half of it in the UK.

magimedi · 10/04/2019 22:43

PMK - Flowers Red.

(Love the title of this thread.)

Peregrina · 10/04/2019 22:44

PMK. Do I stay up for a decision or not? On balance, I think not, because my eyes are closing right now.

AwdBovril · 10/04/2019 22:44

PMK. I've completely missed today's events, need to catch up. Thanks, as always, for the thread.

jasjas1973 · 10/04/2019 22:46

Macron is right, the EU have had enough of the UK fcuking about and we should be made to choose.

BlackeyedGruesome · 10/04/2019 22:47

Waiting, waiting, waiting....

I just bought 12.5kg potatoes. If Murphy is true to form then we will get that extension.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/04/2019 22:47

PMK.

So, if the EU27 decide that it's no deal for us, do we reckon that Parliament would have an urgent revoke vote tomorrow?

And, if so, what would the result be, do we think?

twofingerstoEverything · 10/04/2019 22:49

pmk tks rtb

magimedi · 10/04/2019 22:49

I'm not staying up - but if I wake up in the night I might just have to look........

Bon soir everyone - hope you all get some sleep.

Darkbendis · 10/04/2019 22:50

Oooh, PMK on first page? Yay me, I am not going to bed just yet! Thanks Red !

Greensleeves · 10/04/2019 22:53

I'm tempted to stay up and wait for a decision, do you think we will get one tonight? Will Theresa just suck up whatever's offered? Will Mark Francois spontaneously explode like an angry blood pudding?

IrenetheQuaint · 10/04/2019 22:53

Thanks Red!

OublietteBravo · 10/04/2019 22:53

I’m too tired to stay up. I’m going to try and get some sleep.

CordeliaEarhart · 10/04/2019 22:56

Macron was talked down last time, hopefully he can be again.

Can anyone explain the rationale of a short extension? We'd still need to vote in the EP elections and have seats allocated to us because, theoretically at least, we could revoke A50 at any point during the extension.

woman19 · 10/04/2019 22:58

@liliebayer
Some officials are far from happy with how the discussion is evolving. “We are hostages of small group of mainly Francophones doing it for purely domestic show,” said one senior official. t.co/xfwnK9fn6o

One can see exactly why Macron is doing what he does.
One can see exactly why Merkel is doing what she does.

BigChocFrenzy · 10/04/2019 22:58

Thanks, red 💐

Fluffy No E27 leaders so far have said they don't want any extension.

So I'd expect we get at least to 22 May - which would avoid the EP feeling abused

Macron wants to give May the Schlong she requested, to 30 June

Strange if the UK press criticise him for for not giving long enough,
while the same papers also criticise May for having any extension at all.

Maybe 'cos he's French; it has to be his fault

RedToothBrush · 10/04/2019 22:58

I'm tempted to stay up and wait for a decision, do you think we will get one tonight?
It's going to be late. As in election night endurance late. Minus the fun bits and swingometers and the ministerial shocker.

Will Theresa just suck up whatever's offered?
Every indication she will. And legally she's not got much option, but to.

Will Mark Francois spontaneously explode like an angry blood pudding?
We are not spoken to wish misfortune or ill health on our politicians. Just think that British politics would be a lot less entertaining without him. Poor bloke hasn't had a shag in years after all.

PMK - the shopping order is done, for better or for worse Hmm

sos I may be mixed up but did you have a key hospital appointment on Monday? Are you all ok?

OogieMcBoogie · 10/04/2019 22:59

I’m off to bed, with thanks to Red and the rest of you for such an incisive, informative and entertaining set of threads FlowersWine

prettybird · 10/04/2019 23:00

Wish I could be as relaxed as this regal pussy cat assuming his rightful place rather than a human Wink on a seat Grin

I hope they're not too late tonight as I'm knackered and unusually as I'm a night owl desperate for bed Hmm
