Westminstenders: 1001 Ways to wait for EUCO - Sprouts, Nits and Brexit

Not much more to say other than, all we can do is wait to hear our fate.

Which seems to lie in the hands of Macron.

I think these tweet sums a lot of it up from a couple of jaded soft leavers

Iain Martin @ iainmartin1
This terrible farce in Brussels tonight is like being British during the eurovision song contest. British entrant awaits fate, watching humiliating results come in, trying to smile for the audience back home.

George Trefgarne @georgetrefgarne
To be honest I think Buck’s Fizz and Cheryl thingummy would have made a better job of it

My advice: Don't wait up!

Pippa Crerar @pippacrerar
EU source on Macron: "He is in a bit of a schizophrenic situation - (his) domestic audience demands that he is tough on Britain for historic reasons. On the other hand, France is among the most-hit in any no-deal Brexit. It will take hours before we pull him down from his tree."

So Macron may end up being the one who gets the UK what it wants but is doing it to be tough on us. I'm not sure I understand EU politics.

Talks between Tories & Labour descend into acrimony:

* Tories say Starmer is 'ideologue' who is 'obstructing' negotiations

* McDonnell & Long-Bailey seen as more open to compromise

* Labour accuses Tories of failing to offer anything new

Tories on Labour: 'The greatest ideologue is Keir, we get impression he would be quite happy for Brexit not to happen'

Labour on Tories: 'The biggest obstacle in talks has been Cabinet ministers' inability to offer anything substantially different to deal rejected 3 times'

Add in a potential Tory Leadership contest to divert attention, it really doesn't look like the UK is following Tusk's advice Sad

So, given the amount of time that will be wasted not spent in Parliament between now and the end of October, what are the relative odds of No Deal versus yet another extension Hmm Note: I'm not even considering the possibility of an early Brexit because the WA has been passed Confused

In other news, I've now sown half of the seeds from my Brexit Survival Pack Wink and I have 16 asparagus spears showing not including the one that dh broke with the flex of the strimmer while he was strimming around the raised beds (not that they're "needed" now so I can minimise the harvest I take from then as the crowns have only been in for a year) so Brexit has got me out in the garden. The pumpkins should come good at just about the right time Grin

The Human Rights lawyer points out the human rights issues and is an ideologue

Leave voters have no idea what they have let themselves in for after Brexit.

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 12/04/2019 21:42

Hammond Says U.K.’s May Won’t Quit Until Brexit Is Delivered

That's gonna piss a few off then. The Tory Party conference will be cracking!

Should I go? I recently joined the Conservative party in the hope of thwarting Boris/ERG candidates in the inevitable?leadership contest. I’m not sure I could actually bring myself to hang out with them though.

prettybird · 12/04/2019 21:44

The "complaints" about Starmer and the comments about Long-Bailey and McDonnell being more open to compromise suggests that the sticking point is a meaningful PV Hmm

I will admit to not liking being distrustful of Long-Bailey in particular (and McDonnell) as being a Corbyn acolyte.

PestyMachtubernahme · 12/04/2019 21:48

Until otherwise declared
Labour is a leave party

(I know, I am being annoying)

Littlespaces · 12/04/2019 21:49

Why can't voters see through people like Farage?

Westminstenders: 1001 Ways to wait for EUCO - Sprouts, Nits and Brexit
Littlespaces · 12/04/2019 21:50

Labour is a Leave party and needs to be avoided until they have a firm policy stating otherwise.

LonelyTiredandLow · 12/04/2019 21:50

Just back from wading though fb. Apparently the latest jibe at remoaners is that it is us who is wasting £1bn a month by delaying Brexit Hmm

I was just trying to imagine what Fartage would do if he became PM. I don't think he would last very long and suspect he is doing it because some mafia gang will put his head in a vice if he isn't shown to be 'giving it his all'. Still I think I would rather he had his mitts on the rudder of Brexit if given a choice between him and BoJo. I would rather see the blame lie squarely with him from his 'people'. Boris will be an outcast from the circles he enjoys for life which is almost punishment enough.

PestyMachtubernahme · 12/04/2019 21:51

I do wonder how much money the disaster capitalists have lost as we sail through Brexit day MKII

Dontlickthetrolley · 12/04/2019 21:52

A PP said about the possibility of the Shires changing colour in the local elections, unfortunately, ours will continue to be Blue as the government have delayed our election in order for a unitary organisation to be put together starting allegedly from May 2020, however, due to Brexit the proposed unitary confirmation hasn't been signed off by parliament and from May, the current councillors don't have any mandate to council! As with everything else I can see a number of extensions being added and in the meantime we get stuck with the county councillors that got us in to this mess in the first place!!!

TalkinPaece · 12/04/2019 21:54

trolley
How are things in Northampton Wink

woman19 · 12/04/2019 21:54

Brexit has got me out in the garden
Mine is unrecognisable. Cleared, pots in, onions in, beans in, tomatoes going mad in pots in the kitchen and elsewhere! Sweetcorn and sunflowers turning into triffids. Chilis, herbs and salad on the go. I'm an absolute beginner though. Asparagus, prettybird, I am in awe.

The Human Rights lawyer points out the human rights issues and is an ideologue
Your rights are my oppression. Hmm

Bailey is being lined up for office, so far.

Labour is a Leave party
We were supposed to brexit on 29.3.19. Wink

Littlespaces · 12/04/2019 21:55

My very small garden looks amazing compared to every other year. A lot of stress has been downloaded into the garden.

Littlespaces · 12/04/2019 21:57

A poster on Beth Rigby's twitter page has written this -

You miss the point imho. McDonnell's plan for power and state "asset grab" needs the absence of 'state aid rules' , this need to be outside EU. That's his Part I , #GE is Part II

It rings true.

prettybird · 12/04/2019 21:59

Woman - this is the 2nd attempt at asparagus (all Ginglijm crowns which is more frost resistant) as my previous medley of different asparaguses got crucified in the really cold winter we had a few years ago. I dug out a lot of dead roots Sad when I planted the new crowns last year.

Dontlickthetrolley · 12/04/2019 22:00

Talkin messy!

Littlespaces · 12/04/2019 22:05

@carolecadwalla

More Carole Cadwalladr Retweeted BBC Politics
Fascinating interview with Farage. He really really doesn’t want to get into questions about Banks’ ££. But issue of how the Brexit Party is funding itself is key. ‘Small donations’ from where? Paid by who? Prove itCarole Cadwalladr added,

@BBCPolitics
“Six times I have told you no” Nigel Farage on whether former UKIP-backer Arron Banks would fund the new Brexit Party

prettybird · 12/04/2019 22:09

Littlespaces - in addition to all the veg I've been sowing, I've also sown a whole load of sweet peas and planted up my dahlia crowns lifted from last year. Got to have some prettiness too! Flowers

yolofish · 12/04/2019 22:22

prettybird will be interested to hear how you get on with asparagus - I only ever got one stem at a time which was pretty useless. nice foliage though! but I gave up on them in the end and dug them out. got my veg beds under black plastic at the mo to kill weeds and warm the soil til I can buy plants - am crap at seeds and envy those who can do them.

where is red? we need a new fred!

TalkinPaece · 12/04/2019 22:24

This is an interesting list
but Change.UK is not on it

woman19 · 12/04/2019 22:24

Yup, littlespaces it's a mystery. Hmm

Farage tells BBC host 'NO' SIX TIMES during FIERY exchange over Brexit Party funding

NIGEL FARAGE got into a fiery debate with BBC host Elizabeth Glinka after she repeatedly demanded to know whether businessman and political donor Aaron Banks would be funding the former Ukip leaders’ new Brexit Party

www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1113436/Brexit-news-Nigel-Farage-BBC-Politics-UK-EU-Theresa-May-no-deal-vote-latest

Got to have some prettiness
For sure! I vaguely remember marigolds being helpful to veg, or something? I've got some on the go, anyway. If I don't accidentaly behead them like I do to a lot of my plants. Blush

woman19 · 12/04/2019 22:27

TiP Soubry said in an interview on Channel 4 news mid week (?), that they haven't been ratified/ OKed as a party yet........
