So how are the celebrating going?

Didn’t exactly go to plan did it?

Has it started to sink in what a fucking mess this all is?

Jas so you are suggesting revoking and buying off 17 million voters with £x, £y & £z? shades of Tories/DUP there which I thought was highly disapproved of by most remainders.

Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 21:36

Let's have a no deal and get this shit over with.

So what didn’t it happen today queen?

OP posts:
jasjas1973 · 29/03/2019 21:36

CatsinSpace i don't agree with that, Farage is hardly representative of most people in the UK, he could never win a uk election or even come close, failed 7 x.
i'd suggest given recent events, EU are a heck of a lot more in touch with public opinion than our govt is.

Amanduh · 29/03/2019 21:41

I like the ‘leavers need to know xyz and they need to accept that.’
Remainers don’t accept what they are told though? And that’s not coming from a ‘side’ as I didn’t vote because of a fuck up that wasn’t mine but I am utterly fed up of the hypocrisy.
Hmm

PortiaCastis · 29/03/2019 21:42

I'll never beg anyone for mercy how sodding ridiculous would that be why on earth would I, how silly and especially not to the sort of twat who's swearing at a female MP and being obnoxious in general

jasjas1973 · 29/03/2019 21:42

Time4

No i'm not, but if we leave we fuck off at least 16m, who will not shut up, whatever you may want!! if we stay we piss off the other 1/2, we need to move forward and address the issues that urgently need addressing.
Leaving will mean years more of arguing and bickering, with nothing getting done.
10/15 years ago, few in this country gave a flying fig about the EU.

the DUP issue is buying power for short term gain and being part governed by a party few can vote for.

CatsinSpace · 29/03/2019 21:43

Hmm in touch with public opinion they agree with.

MEP elections in the UK normally have a poor turn out. If we do hold EU elections it'll be interesting to see turnout / results.

I agree wholeheartedly that the UK government is beyond useless.

Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 21:43

amanduh the reality is that there is no silver bullet that will make Leavers happy.

That is absolutely indisputable now.

Why pretend otherwise?

OP posts:
LeadMeToTheChocolate · 29/03/2019 21:44

The EU has had a major role in the longest period of peace and the most affluent period for EU markets.... why oh why are we trying to throw this away?

Why can’t people see that we are a middle sized economy in a large pond. We aren’t the powerhouse we used to be since we stopped pillaging newly ‘discovered’ territory (that didn’t need or want ‘discovering’) ...the world is a different place now.
Most people don’t even know how the EU even works! How can you reject something you don’t know the foggiest about?! Political education needs a kick up the bum.

Revoke revoke revoke.
And then we should get down on our knees to apologise for the 3yr drama some of us caused with (not so) cloaked racism and wide spread susceptibility to lies.

time4chocolate · 29/03/2019 21:44

Farage is hardly representative of most people in the UK, he could never win a uk election or even come close, failed 7 x

Not yet but we have never had an eu referendum before that was ignored.

Imagine having a hung parliament in a GE with the tories having to pal up with UKIP Wink That would be too ironic for words.

Cattenberg · 29/03/2019 21:45

I have listened to Owen Jones and Jess Phillips over the past few days and they both say that remainers (myself included) should accept the result and move forward towards a workable divorce from the EU.

Wasn’t Owen Jones a vocal Leave supporter?

Anyway, I saw footage of the pro-Brexit protest today and I’d really like to know what the US flags were there for. Does anyone know?

time4chocolate · 29/03/2019 21:46

No i'm not, but if we leave we fuck off at least 16m, who will not shut up, whatever you may want!!

But you think it’s ok to fuck of 17m and expect them to shut up - okayyy.

Bowchicawowow · 29/03/2019 21:46

Farage is hardly representative of most people in the UK, he could never win a uk election or even come close, failed 7 x

I have heard this said many times before. Too many people underestimated Farage and we are all living with the consequences.

Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 21:47

time or any other Leaver, what were your honest thoughts about the fact TM offered to resign to get her deal through and then BJ and JRM agreed to support the WA which they’d trashed before.

Did it honestly not occur to you that you are justa pawn in their game and that they actually don’t give a shit about the EU, it’s just about themselves?

OP posts:
CatsinSpace · 29/03/2019 21:49

I would sag that they want TM to go so they could install a Brexiteer as PM for the next stage of the process.

We're all pawns in a rich man's game.

CatsinSpace · 29/03/2019 21:50

Say, not sag. I am starting to sag atm though Grin

Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 21:51

But they would have to have agreed the WA to get that far so couldn’t just sack that off in favour of Leave Utopia.

everythingisginandroses · 29/03/2019 21:57

Owen Jones campaigned for Remain. We need a soft Brexit, and I don't give a stuff about any howls re: the 17m and the will of the people and all that. 37% of the electorate is not a mandate to crash out and wreck the economy in pursuit of some sado-masochistic fantasy. I won't be happy, Leavers won't be happy (as they seemingly never are), but them's the breaks in a divided democracy.

Bowchicawowow · 29/03/2019 22:03

37% is enough though because Parliament said they would honour the result.

RunningNinja79 · 29/03/2019 22:03

In answer to the question to the original title of this thread. They've all been postponed for 2 weeks.

Personally Ive never really cared if we left or not. In fact Ive only really just started to take proper notice of it the last couple of days. (I voted remain BTW - not that I need to tell anyone) and I still dont care if we stay or go.

Just wish it would all be over so goadiness like this can stop. In fact all the posts and things Ive seen are just remainers winding up the leavers (not just on MN, but on FB etc - I probably dont have very many leaver friends so appreciate its most likely a very one sided view and that there is likely to be a lot both ways)

Hiddenaspie1973 · 29/03/2019 22:04

I'm a leaver. I'm not hard to please. The majority voted leave. You keep calling us thick, uneducated, etc. Whatever.
The public voted. What would make me happy is to leave. Simple.
Stop painting leavers as moanbags. We've been disrespected and disregarded. Of course that is offensive.
Remainers didn't like the way the vote went, so determinedly wrecked it and destroyed democracy.

Pinkfluffyelephant · 29/03/2019 22:11

If you want a reason why we need to get out now have a look at some of the YouTube EU discussions. I came across them last night after someone recommended watching Afd leader Dr Alice Weidel’s speech on the handling of Brexit dated March 19.
A quote from Michael Barnier ‘My mission will have been a success when the terms are so brutal for the British that they prefer to stay in the union.
Regarding the referendum in Ireland whether to enter the Treaty of Lisbon. The result was ignored and they were made to vote again. As well as other countries whose results were ignored because they voted the wrong answer in the EUs opinion.
Greece is on it’s knees and Italy is heading the same way.
We are on a sinking ship with still time to get off before it goes down.
You may disagree with me and I respect your right to do that. Please if you’d like to share your views to give other perspectives.

Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 22:11

hidden you post typifies the problem here.

You (ie Leavers) winning wasn’t the end of it.

You need to show how it’s going to work and why it’s worth it.

The problem is you can’t.

That’s why we’re in this mess.

It was never about just winning.

OP posts:
everythingisginandroses · 29/03/2019 22:14

I voted Remain. We lost, and we need to negotiate a sensible exit. I'm not going to apologise to anyone who thinks I am in some way disrespecting them by saying that we need to leave without fucking up the economy and breaking up the UK.

The80sweregreat · 29/03/2019 22:15

Owen jones wrote one article about a possible leave outcome long before the vote.
He is a Remainer and opposes Brexit.
Don't diss him when people like Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees mogg flip and flop around changing their minds at all opportunities.
