So how are the celebrating going?

Didn’t exactly go to plan did it?

Has it started to sink in what a fucking mess this all is?

OP posts:
Bowchicawowow · 29/03/2019 21:19

And ignore a democratic vote? That gives the Tories unfettered power. No fucking thanks.

time4chocolate · 29/03/2019 21:20

time and catsin what do you seriously think can happen now?

Well, there are eight different options currently on the table so anything could happen. I expect however these will be whittled down in the next few days and we will have spent two years going all round the houses and end up back exactly where we started with the original in (fully) or out (completely).

Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 21:20

Peanut, I haven’t insulted anyone.

Ok, I’m being sarcastic, but what I’m saying isn’t actually insulting.

And most importantly, you can’t argue against it without just trying to silence it.

Which is par for the course now.

OP posts:
Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 21:22

So that’s back to my point time

No deal or Revoke

And if no deal was going to happen it would have done today

OP posts:
Bowchicawowow · 29/03/2019 21:24

Your attitude it what is causing this mess in the first place OP. You are always going to be the problem, not the solution. You are no better than the vocal Leavers you hate so much.

time4chocolate · 29/03/2019 21:24

I certainly wouldn’t discount a no deal yet.

jasjas1973 · 29/03/2019 21:24

Revoke without any acceptance of the issues ie FOM, regions feeling ignored, London centric is not going to heal the divisions.

We should now start negotiating to stay IN, get some changes, cancel hs2 and use that 56 billion to help the poorer parts and peoples of the UK, how about properly funding UC for starters?

Not sure goading leavers genuinely held beliefs is a great way to go forward. (as much as i think they are wrong)

Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 21:24

If we don’t honour the result we lose our democracy and that’s a lot more worrying than Brexit

Please can you explain how democracy is having to deliver the result of a vote, 3 years ago, when the goalposts have moved massively.

Also how is it democratic to force that choice through parliament when they’ve voted it down 3 times already

OP posts:
Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 21:25

As above time, TM’s mantra was ‘no deal is better than a bad deal’

If it’s possible, why didn’t it happen today?

OP posts:
jasjas1973 · 29/03/2019 21:26

No deal can easily happen Bear, the EU just have to refuse an extension and do you really think May would revoke as a consequence?

PerspicaciaTick · 29/03/2019 21:26

We now need clear heads to move forward.

TBF if makes absolutely zero difference what I think, hope, believe or what ideas I might have about moving forward. I have never felt so utterly powerless, the future direction of travel isn't something I can influence in anyway.

Bowchicawowow · 29/03/2019 21:27

There are four years between general elections. Do you think we should have one every year?

Parliament promised to honour the result of the referendum. They haven't done that. That is a very dangerous precedent.

CatsinSpace · 29/03/2019 21:27

I suppose more will be known after the votes on Monday.
The reality is that no one knows what's going to happen.

According to the news today, the EP elections are on course to deliver around 33% populist MEPs from the far left, far right and shades in between.

The EU has greater problems than Brexit it would appear.

Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 21:27

jas I have said on this thread we should revoke and actually deal with the issues, which are entirely within the governments control, which led to leave winning in the first place.

Rubbish, leavers at the next GE, can all vote for ukip/brexit party and get a brexit Govt if thats what the uk want.

Clavinova · 29/03/2019 21:28

The European Commission seem to think that a "no-deal" scenario is a likely outcome now:

europa.eu/rapid/press-release_STATEMENT-19-1914_en.htm

European Commission - Statement

Statement by the European Commission on the vote on the Withdrawal Agreement in the House of Commons

Brussels, 29 March 2019

The Commission regrets the negative vote in the House of Commons today. As per the European Council (Article 50) decision on 22 March, the period provided for in Article 50(3) is extended to 12 April. It will be for the UK to indicate the way forward before that date, for consideration by the European Council.

A “no-deal” scenario on 12 April is now a likely scenario. The EU has been preparing for this since December 2017 and is now fully prepared for a “no-deal” scenario at midnight on 12 April. The EU will remain united. The benefits of the Withdrawal Agreement, including a transition period, will in no circumstances be replicated in a “no-deal” scenario. Sectoral mini-deals are not an option.

Bowchicawowow · 29/03/2019 21:30

it really isn't rubbish jasjas. They promised to uphold the decision. They haven't. That is seriously worrying.

jasjas1973 · 29/03/2019 21:30

CatsinSpace

But leavers say MEPs have no power, its all in the commission and is undemocratic, so what does it matter if there are populist MEPs Hmm

Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 21:30

do you really think May would revoke as a consequence?

TM is a lunatic, sociopath, nut job so I wouldn’t put anything passed her.

I genuinely think she would choose no deal only because she thinks it would save her pride, not because it was the right thing to do.

But she won’t be allowed to do it.

OP posts:
Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 21:32

They promised to uphold the decision. They haven't. That is seriously worrying.

Why is it worrying to try and prevent to country committing economic suicide?

OP posts:
CatsinSpace · 29/03/2019 21:32

The MEPs are the nearest the EU gets to actual public opinion jas.

Don't sit on the fence with your judgement !

Yes she is, makes Thatcher look utterly normal.

QueenOfIce · 29/03/2019 21:33

Let's have a no deal and get this shit over with. Hopefully then all the sanctimonious remainers will bugger off cap in hand the the beloved EU and beg for mercy. So sick of stupid bloody threads like this. Constant 'I'm so angry' threads. Boring.

Bearbehind · 29/03/2019 21:34
