Westminstenders: Indicative Crossiants

RedToothBrush · 26/03/2019 18:23

Tomorrow the Indicative debate starts at 3pm

The Speaker will choose options to go to vote.

Vote at 7pm for yes or no for each option.

7.30pm The SI debate on extension followed by vote.

Announcement of the indicative vote sometime between 8.15pm and 9.30pm

Meanwhile the DUP have indicated they would prefer a long delay (and presumably EU elections by default) rather than May's deal, in a strange twist of Brexit.

PMK (awesome title Grin)

OK it's American talking about Trump and trade but quite a good explanation of the things that can go wrong with deals and tariffs. Also very funny/scary when you consider the Wherrity sniffer has been there.

1tisILeClerc · 26/03/2019 20:24

The summary at 19 minutes or so into it is relevant to the UK.

RevokeRemainRebuild · 26/03/2019 20:25

Those of you love bombing Sir Oliver et al, what are you saying?

ContinuityError · 26/03/2019 20:27

dreichuplands have the Siamese taken over Scotland?

Runningintothesunset · 26/03/2019 20:30

This was my email - but anything positive for them has to be a good thing.

Dear Mr Grieve,

I’m not a constituent of yours, but I just want to say a wholehearted thank you for your phenomenal efforts to try and do the best for the country. Your speeches are making a difference and hopefully the tide can be turned towards sensibility.

You must be exhausted, and inundated with correspondence so please don’t reply, but know that for many of us in the country (particularly those of us who have MPs that are acting in a way at odds to our personal views) you are a shining light of hope.

Yours in gratitude,
Running

RedToothBrush · 26/03/2019 20:31

Sorry totally out of loop today and tonight and I suspect a lot of tomorrow. DS is really not well and is waking every 30 mins atm, so I'm headed off to bed myself as otherwise he's going to kill me.

Dear Oliver Letwin,
Thanks for tabling amendment A.
P.s. You're on Mumsnet.

Runningintothesunset · 26/03/2019 20:33

Look after yourself Red, hope DS feels better soon

AutumnCrow · 26/03/2019 20:33

Night, Red. Hope you get some rest.

StripeyChina · 26/03/2019 20:34

Sorry to hear DS not well RTB.
Hope you get some kip.
PMK

lonelyplanetmum · 26/03/2019 20:34

I've been doing thank you emails too!

Hey ho and on we go...meanwhile...

The UK’s current role within ‘factory Europe’ cannot be taken for granted. The trade links currently most at risk are those which form part of existing production chains.

“In the event of a reversion to trade on the basis of WTO rules, these links would be disrupted. Ultimately, such barriers to trade could lead to a reorganisation of value chains that bypass the UK entirely.”

@RevokeRemainRebuild

This was the generic one I sent to the 30 odd rebels from last night:

I am not one of your constituents, but nevertheless I wanted to write to you to thank you for voting to allow parliament to hold indicative votes on how to move forward with the brexit process. I appreciate that defying the whip is not an easy decision to make, however last night you did your part to ensure that parliament remained sovereign and that our democracy was protected. Thank you so much for having the courage to stand up and be counted amongst the people trying to avert this crisis. As the march on Saturday and the growing petition shows, there are millions of people around the country who are grateful for to the MPs brave enough to make sure that our elected representatives get a meaningful say in the future of this country.
Thank you again
Yours sincerely

But I added bits in for the stalwarts like Clarke and Grieve about how awesome they have been throughout, and mentioned the ministerial resignations to those it applied to - and how brave it was of them to do it. Letwin himself got an entirely personalised one - but it can't have been that much different - just mentioned it being him that put down the amendment, thanking him for that.

the tiggers are getting completely personalised ones - thanking them for everything so far but also asking them to go to the parliamentary debate on Monday.

I also emailed my own MP ... but that was not a love bombing.

Littleoakhorn · 26/03/2019 20:37

If revoke replaces no deal, will the WA be supported by enough Conservatives, DUP and Labour rebels to go through? Surely the ERG would prefer the WA to revoke? Isn’t it an own goal for remainers to put revoke forwards too early?

Runningintothesunset · 26/03/2019 20:41

I also emailed my own MP ... but that was not a love bombing

Ha! Me too Wink

Great effort on the emails pretzel. I feel like we’ve collectively done a good thing today. Well done team

Horehound · 26/03/2019 20:42

So JRM, who put in a vote of no confidence against TM is now going to vote for her deal. He is an embarrassment. I kind of think TM has been holding on just to show up the likes of JRM and his buddies.

Here is my crassONTT 🥐

Is there a link to the quiz? Looks fun.

WhatWouldScoobyDoo · 26/03/2019 20:47

Have also emailed - it feels really good Smile.

Thank you for the idea.

Sorry, another video.
Where Nutella meets an automatic rifle.
It's OK, no 'nasty' pictures but we need to give respect to Chevvy's bakery skills.

hereweareyes · 26/03/2019 20:51

PMK. I'd be lost without these threads. (Well I'm lost even with them, but without would be worse.)

SusanWalker · 26/03/2019 20:52

I chose croissants and got PV. If we're reverting to English pronunciation of foreign foodstuffs then it's a pity my mum's no longer with us.

Petits pois was always pet-its poys and mange tout was always manj towt.

I hope your DS feels better soon red.

Sostenueto · 26/03/2019 20:52
